It sounds like you are very much on the right track! It seems you have it set up like this? BLUE SIDE HQ ---> Node X <-----> Node Y <----- RED SIDE HQ A tactic I found helpful to make strategic nodes systems is to print a planning map and with a pen and ruler start to draw lines between areas, then feeding the ini stuff will be alot easier. It is not really difficult and with a paper map of what you want you wont get "lost". Naval units can be made by making the campaign a "Naval campaign" by setting that flag to true. Beware tho, it takes a lot of fiddling to make it work good. -
Tu-22 Blinder literature/cockpit diagrams needed
Centurion-1 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Hi all, with the help of Stary I thought I'd try to cobble together a fast Tu-22 Blinder cockpit based on his excellent Yak-28B cockpit, I wanted to try some ideas at the same time like a switchable navigator/bomber seat and also Starys excellent bombsight mod. Now I need your help regarding reference materails, good quality cockpit drawings and diagrams are the best! I have some decent quality photos from the various seats but diagrams would be a lot better for proportions and also to make out what various buttons and gagues say. So thanks in advance! -

Thx man, yeah that is very cool, your friend should get a medal for that, and the gentleman who took the photos too! Thanks for the books as well Zoltan and Martin. I do believe I have enough material now @Wilches: Yeah I used the Tu-128 pit too before but the whole reason I wanted to do this was to try to get a more "bomber" feel. But I agree, it's a beutiful cockpit! -

Blaze I read about your project, good work on that one! If you intend on remaking the rivers and cities I'll suspend my TFD work for now, please do not make transitions in TE that way I can then merge your work with mine thru TFD editor and then auto transition in TE. I know what you mean about finishing projects, those last 5% of the progress are always the least fun and inspiring.. ANyways, shoot me a PM so we can collaborate on this? I could send you my edited tileset complete with the new mountain textures, I have all the TE files too. Regarding the F-14, I had originally opted for the Thirdwire one with a new custom skin from me, but I intend to include the TMF too in the package. Thing is, the F-14 from TMF could use a few updates regarding skin and serials. And my F-14 skin is still missing proper serials. Here is an old picture of it, think I edited the colors some since: -

I too would like A2A refueling to be avaliable as an option. Maybe not on the top of my list, but still. Esp. in SF2E where you might need to do very long low level dashes at high speed a A2A refuel to top up would be great. Also a simple rearm and refuel button if you are landed at a friendly or your home base would be great for those really intense campaign missions. If WW3 really were happening aircraft turnaround would probably be minimal! -

That sounds great, and yeah at this point I don't see why not? I can't help with anything relating to coding but will gladly test! I think that at least some sort of avionics dll code suport could be very useful to the community and would maybe be good for TK too? He is not giving away his whole product software and does not have to worry about niche features, modders make new avionics DLLs and takes care of them working with the latest patches. It stands to reason that TK would not have released all those weapons editors, TE etc and have an open folder structure if modding was not a inherent feature of his game? This would just be taking it to the next level! Also, custom shaders and more freedom in the eye candy department would be pretty nice. BUT I think TK is fed up with us/modders in general because the ask for too much and complain too much. Maybe he is just burnt out with PC dev. Think about it, he has been working on SF for PC for a long ass time, most of the time alone. Still, stuff like Steam Greenlight or a kickstarter for EXP3 could be excellent for the future of the series, and it bothers me that TK does not seem it. The last 1,5 year has seen some major success for genres and games that would never made had been made in a traditional game publisher/developer relation. -
We are still zipping around in our RIB boat around here when there should be about a metre of snow and atelast -10C at this time of year and most of the Gulf of Finland should be more or less frozen or freezing. Oh well, looks like the cold is coming over here finally, pretty cold weather promised for the weekend. Which is good, so we can finally end the boat season and start the snowmobile action This morning was pretty purdy tho.

Sea Control Ships: your thoughts...
Centurion-1 replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Sci-Fi/Anime/What If Forum
Wov, did not know about the YA-7F, very cool plane. Interesting ideas you are throwing about too! -
Looking good, I like that they are keeping the old factions for MP play and not just discarding them. It will be interesting to see how the ship stuff will work, personally I'm not super excited about that but the ability to ford rivers will be great! Have played a bit of AirLandBattle lately and I like the campaigns now that they are patched!

IF anyone is wondering why this mod is taking so long it is because it will feature (almost) 100% new content that is of the very latest SF2 HD++ standard, this will become in it's own right a "mini-EXP3". Examples of newly made or rewamped flyables that will be present in this mod (not to imply that all these are made for the mod): Su-20/22/22M F-5E F-4E Mirage F.1 MiG-25 MiG-23 So you see, it will take some time. If I had wanted to I could just have packaged up the mod from what is already there in the downloads section, but I really wanted to have a SF2 standard all around and do away with some of the older SF1 mods. Add to this the revamped map and well, it takes time! -
A Very Small Nellis Test Rage Update
Centurion-1 replied to Dave's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
I guess the difficult part is figuring out a whole new workflow... and you need someone who knows C++ to write code for it, AFAIK there is no "fill in the blanks/important numbers" approach to making these like SF2s data.ini. Just the external 100k polys model and 6DOF cockpit = assload of work. That said, if there was some decent guide or "template" aircraft released I am absolutely sure the modders could start making planes that are atleast Flaming Cliffs standard. If you look at the different studios producing addons all seem to have the longest dev time for the first addon, the subsequent ones are much faster. Also, you can ofcourse re-use code from project to project for all the similar bits. The problem is that this code is proprietary, so the chances of any studio giving away their work for free is pretty slim. -> This is my biggest problem with DCS: everyone wants money for their efforts so everything takes AGES to be done and costs way more than it should. That and the fact it needs a super computer to run properly and look even decent... Personally I'd love to be involved in a DCS project, freeware or payware.. -
A Very Small Nellis Test Rage Update

That depens I think on how trees and forests are handled, if they are individual objects placed into the world then making a jungle terrain might be quite daunting and system taxing even if there are good randomize/seed tools in place. On the other hand, if jungles can be made to be the "default" ground coverage and we settle for very lowpoly trees/sprites i don't see why a SEA map would not be possible. Then we'd just need ALL THE AIRCRAFT from SF2. -

I hope once EDGE is out they start offering the tools to modders or at the very least 3rd party creators so people can start working on new maps for DCS! Anyways, the latest EDGE screenies do look very good. -
Returning to Strike Fighters
Centurion-1 replied to saisran's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
If you have a "switcher" that switches between the Intel and Geforce gfx unit you might want to double check that SF2 uses the high performance one. Personally I think that any mobile GPU of 2013 should be able to run SF2. Your GPU seems to be rated about the same as the ATI Radeon 6700M series I have and it runs SF2 good enough. -
WIP Mega THREAD!
Centurion-1 replied to ErikGen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Hello guys! Good and bad news: The good news is that Sophocles has sent me his F-5A cockpit and has give me permission to use it, so that means we will get a 300% prettier F-5E cockpit as a result! The bad news is that this will push the release back a wee bit from my planned Christmas special. Hope that did not ruin anybodys christmas Anyways, have a merry Christmas guys! -

WIP Mega THREAD!
Centurion-1 replied to ErikGen's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
That's very good news Sophocles! My dream is to eventually just stick the F-5E radar, gunsight and other panels that are diffierent from the F-5A straight into your cockpit, since you have really worked on the details there. Most other things seems to be the same, different gauge layout ofcourse but that is a minor thing to re-arrange and subtle differences in the weapons panel..The only reason i developed this F-5E pit as far as I did was to have a "failsafe" should yours not be avaliable for whatever reason. What is the status of your cockpit currently? -
Does anyone have the A-37B Dragonfly manual?
Centurion-1 posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Yeah so, I was feeling a bit bad about the A-37B languishing on my HDD and actually thought that it needs a new, proper cockpit. To that end, I would very much need the flight manual, so I was wondering if anyone had this particular one? If not, I'll just buy it myself! http://www.flight-manuals.com/cessna-a37b-dragonfly-flight-manual-us37.html Thanks!
