You will probably be resupplied pretty shortly, and if the campaign is split into different sub campaigns you will probably have the full number of pilots and AC once you begin a new sub-campaign. Anyways, love reading these! It also reminds us that SF2 is actually a game and not a modding toolkit
  2. The wholly unintended and unplanned detour that is the F-5E project continues. I decided to make a very modest upgrade to the cockpit to make it feel more like flying a current standard stock aircraft, so I cut-n-pasted some SF2 era instruments and baked some new materials... There is a lot one could do with it still but considering that Sophocles F-5A cockpit seems to be more or less done I don't feel like duplicating work. Anyway, some WIP images below of the cockpit and also the Tiger with smaller LERXs.

  4. RC can't wait for those new F-4s! Yes Russ please, I am unsure exactly when they entered service but IIRC they served at least towards the end of the conflict. All contributors get access to closed betas After spending my _entire_ friday on this, I can finally say that a hipoly F-5E is now almost a reality. It is not a new model and a dedicated new one like for example Sophocles F-5 will probably be a lot better, but that said I don't think this is too shabby. The old but updated TMF F-5E nose mated to FastCargos considerably more detailed F-5F fuselage = new F-5E. A lot of stuff got reworked in the process and some more work is still needed, but I am satisfied so far!

    Hi sophocles, how's it going? Any chance of you making a F-5E cockpit out of your source files, I'm no expert on the Tiger but adding the radar and RWR scope would be pretty straightforward?

  9. Good point gerwin, though I'd like to say that it really depends on the service, aircraft type and paint, when was it last given a complete paint job et cetera. But to be fair the IIAF and IRIAF show their aircraft to be in excellent paint more often than not, especially "back in the day". I think I will also make some more heavily weathered "late" skins that simulate late in the war aircraft or modern ones. While the IRIAF seems to keep the F-4s and F-14s in good paint I have seen some F-5Es that are in a pretty sorry state, at least paint wise. I however toned down the weathering, what do you think now: IRIAF Camo 43rd TFS "Tigers" IRIAF Camo TFB2 Carlo has helped the mod forward some more, this time some high resolution skins for the Hunters and MiG-21PFM!

  14. One thing I have been meaning to do for a longer while now is update the F-5E templates, since the Tiger is of course one of the main stars of this conflict. So below are WIP pictures of my "new" 2048 templates with Paulos decal work!
  15. Nevar!!1 There can only be one Wrench! Seriously tho, I would never have the patience to do what you do, targeting and tiling terrains from scratch. I merely did some clever copy-pasting here. I will be sure to give you the tileset plus tilelists and 256x256s for TE when it's done tho, you never know where it might come in handy.

Thanks to Gerwin very speedy work and his superb editor (and also a little thanks to good ole' 3W TE) I have now come about one lightyear ahead when it comes to the terrain, and I have now been able to realize my dream: to make Iran a varied and interested place to fly over! It now feels totally different from the rivered flatlands of Iraq and that is how I always wanted it to be! Also the mountains are varied and do not feel like wierd shapes covered by a tile blanket. I could not be more pleased at the moment. Again, all the thanks goes to Aggie and Gerwin! Also wanted to add that I had a pretty hair raising attack mission in my Su-20 straight into the heart of the Zagros mountains and Iraq, it was good fun to zip amongs the valleys to get in undetected. My faithful wingman finally nailed the target but unfortunately was not quick enough on his feet throttle and did not make it out of dodge. Finally I ran out of fuel just 20km from my base and performed a semi-crash landing into the contryside. Oh well, I lived to fight another day only to have my entire flight of 8 Su-20s slaughtered by flak on the next mission (which ironically enough was air defence supression)

  23. The final textures will be in jpg for sure! IIRC it is pretty unclear what missions the Hunters flew but probably CAS missions along the front ACIG.org states the following: Flying Leaders School - Detachment ?, Hunter F.Mk.59A/B at Rashid AB (Baghdad) - Detachment ?, Jet Provost T.Mk.52 at Rashid AB (Baghdad)

Hey Gerwin, I managed to find some kind of a unknown problem with the TFD to BMP to TFD process: -I am working on the Iran / Iraq terrain to add more defintion to the mountain areas of iran. -My plan was to retile it using auto texture in TE, then use photoshop to copy-paste all cities and rivers and roads and stuff that are hand placed into my auto generated terrain. -It works like a charm in TFD editor but it crashes the game at 100% load. -My copy-pasted TFD works in TFD Editor, but when I open it in TerrainEditor (loads just fine) and try to for example rotate a single tile, it crashes. ---> Ergo: somewhere there is a error in this frankenstein TFD file, but my know-how stops here on how to look for it. I attached two TFDs for you to compare, maybe you can use somekind of magic programming divination to work out what is wrong with it? Also, thanks for a great tool! IR TFDs.7z

    Very nice video! To this day, I've gotta admit I've spent very few minutes above Vietnam in SF2 even though I bought SF2:V ages ago. Your video did make me wanna change that
