  2. Morteze yes any info about the region is appreciated. Are the highest mountains snowy the year round? EDIT: Carlo, what version of Formosa is that? Link? Making an all new tileset is a little bit out of the scope of this mod, or at least it would take too long. I am happy with integrating different bits that work! I added the Valley tiles from Israel ME to use in mountain valleys, think they look nice

Closed beta still, made by yours truly. Soon, I hope!

  5. Ok, never mind that. I found Gerwins TFD editor and it took literally 15mins (so the tiles are what they are) to incorporate my first snowy peaks. Now I'm in trouble, cause I want to make those mountains as pretty as a picture. Beware of stock Thirdwire graphic settings and clouds *bleurgh*

  7. Ah, much obliged oh master of Terrains Speaking of which, I have some questions that I think you above all others are equipped to answer: Could you, in one sentence, detail how I would go about retiling the map? Will i need to struggle with the Thirdwire terrain editor? Also, can the Tile heightmaps be bigger in size than 32x32? Is that anyway to make the mountains more "sharp" as opposed to round on the top?
  8. I'm hoping I will get it to work! There is a nice team shaping up around this so I have high hopes. I guess this means I will have to finish that MiG-25 sooner rather than later
  9. Nah, don't think so. I did tell him about SF2 modding, so there's always the slim chance he'll hop aboard the mod wagon. I was just mainly looking for permission to use his model, but there is always hope to get more good modders aboard! I have done some extensive tile-set testing, I've used JSF Aggies hi-res desert tiles, Starys IndoPak as well as his hires IsarelME tiles. Based on this, I am remaking the tiles to match Starys Isreal ME for the farms and mountains, and am using a recolored desert tile from jsf. Here are some pics. Still need to make roads and sort out the TODs as well as some minor seams and stuff. The problem is that the mountain area is tiled with just one tile all over, making for some bland looks. My dream is to have lush valleys and snowy mountaintops, but if i'm gonna lern to retile maps then this project will take forever

  13. Hmm yeah. But I don't consider the transport choppers to be really important, most important are the gunships. I am currently contacting an old ArmA modding contact who has an excellent Mi-24 model.
  14. From wikipedia. Thanks to all who have supported me so far, I'm hoping this will turn out to be good project! I am currently testing the campaign and it is working quite nicely. Initially the Iraqis had a bit of a upper hand and pushed into Irani territory, but after 4 missions (about two weeks time ingame) the IrAf losses are starting to mount and Iran is pushing back in the ground war. The AGM-65A Mavericks are used to devastating effect against Iraqi armour just like in real-life. The superior skill of the IRIAF visavi mission planning and recon assets is a bit hard to model ingame, but oh well. Iraqi heavies have not played much of a role so far.
  15. I could use the Fitter temps. I have been on a bit of a skinning-spree lately
  16. Nice one Carlo, those would be good to have. It is one of my favorite addon planes looks-wise, but the skins could always be bumbped up a notch!
  17. Very cool, that's what I'm talking about! It's too bad the Thirdwire AIs have such low res skins as the templates themselves are rather nice looking. Good job, guess I can take that one off my list of worries.
  18. I actually got armed recon flying a Thunderchief the other day over germany. It used starys latest upgrade, before it I never got any armed recon missions..
  19. The INI files I think have had it listed for some time, so it seems it has been on TKs To-do list. Damnit if he releases his before mine Oh well, that's the price you pay for being lazy..
  20. I have been fiddling around with an Iran-Iraq war scenario this afternoon after getting bored with my RL projects that have lately been taking up so much time. Couldn't find it in me to fire up 3dsMax and chip away at all those waiting projects, but I felt doing a bit of skinning would be the perfect time to relax (I just found my ancient Intous tablet in my desk drawer too, had almost forgot about that one). Having just re-read Acig.orgs excellent Bombed by Bilnders article the target was natural. I also collected all the stuff I could find at Combat Ace. Turns out there is a lot relating IRIAF at least. Tu-22KD cruise-missile carrier. Read the article linked above, great read. Yes, the numbers are wrong and at the wrong place. F-5E by MF / PauloPanz. Fun little fighter, but I'm itching to try Sophocles new Tiger. Superb IRIAF F-4D by Sundowner. A quick decal job on this yet-to-be-finished bird. Patience, I have a feeling 2013 is the year of the Foxbat Mighty Blinders armed with Kh-22MP anti-radiation missiles. Haven't gotten them to shoot yet, but oh well. Trying to get a Mirage F.1 to quit bugging my wingman. This particular mission featured the best wingmen in SF2 yet. Flight of four, three survived, there were literally dozens of bandits around for like 20mins. 7 kills between us. Conventional Blinder-A bomber. Now if anyone could help me sort out the campaigns strategic nodes...
