  1. Yeah I know, just testing. As I said in my plan, I will go over and make rivers as the very last item, just wanted to test how it looks. The river should go where the airstrip is, it would seem. is there any good really small airstrips in some terrain, like just a single dirt runway?
  2. Well things are going rather well in terrain land! As I suspected the new features in Gerwins terrain tool makes targeting a breeze. I am now zipping up the proto terrain and handing it to Stratos for some targeting. Below you can see some test shots of the mountains and airstrip plus river, and also lots of action. The tiles are currently WIP of course, some color correction of the mountains will be necessary but overall I'm pleased for it to be this early. And something I created from scratch, no less (tho with a lot of borrowing from the excellent work here at CA).
  3. That is weird. I will have to consider something, but are there any one else with this type of problem? Unfortunately reducing polycount on a 3d model like this with a bazillion small 3d objects like switches is easier said than done.

  6. Hmm Happy that sounds like a problem at some other end, while the polycount is high for SF2 standards it should not be that big of a problem for your system. I can't really say. There are some tweaks outlined here in this thread, applies mostly to nvidia but maybe worth a shot? Beware of the ATI tray tools, one download I found had a virus. But it could be one way of getting more control of your system to see what the culprit is. YOu could try one more thing.. go to the F-5E_72_COCKPIT.ini file and change the following: [CockpitSeat001] ModelName=F-5E_4 <<< CHANGE TO SOMETHING ELSE LIKE F-5E_NOTINUSE Offset=0.0,3.1,0.8 //(x,z,y) //Position=0.0,1.65,0.84 //position F5B Position=0.0,2.65,0.85 //Offset=0.0,2.9,0.75 //(x,z,y) //Position=0.0,3.5,0.7 ViewAngles=0.0,0.0,0.0 MaxYaw=152 MinYaw=-152 MaxPitch=120 MinPitchFront=-60 This way the cockpit won't load. Now try a similar place you would get stuttering and see if it still there. If so, it's some other problem. If not, I will have to think about the cockpit some more. Most of it is made by a guy named Sophocles who is super talented, but he does have a taste for the high poly stuff For the following releases and updates I will also try to incorporate some more LOD levels for the external model.
  7. I don't know yet.. I guess it could be cool to be able to paste for example river tiles while in ref map mode and then go over them and just rotate them later. Either way, this is a huge improvement for terrain modding for sure!

    So can someone brush up my canon here, didnt the empire fall after Return of the Jedi? I was under that impression at least. Or did it revert into the Republic again and the stormies are good guys now? Ahh confusion. Anyways, I'm pretty amped even if I have some reservations.

  11. Ok. Well it would be good to get the ball rolling again! There are so many talented people here, I am sure we could make this work. I am swamped in projects otherwise I would give it a go, even got a proto map in TE done. Believe it or not, the first ever mod I attempted to do for SF2 was an Angola map. Lol. That was many, many hours of modding ago.
  12. You guys should make a thread about it in the mods and skinning discussion topic, along with test results. If it really gives this good results it should be added to most AI aircraft I think. Wonder what it would do to my WIP MiG-25.. maybe set it low at just 4-5gs and see what happens.

  17. Hi Denis, nice work! If you want to, I could integrate this work into the "Official" F-5E packs, or make a custom FAB F-5E model with the RFP integrated. Of course the F-5EM cockpit would be a lot of work, but I guess the RFP was added even before that upgrade? Anyways, PM me if interested Cheers, Mats

  20. Well, never intended to, but needed two low-viz skins and decided to try some weathering based on Wrench excellent templates, cause I found some really nice ref pictures. I will post the reason for this in the missions and campaign section soon. Yeah, I don't know but there must be some place in the Corsair II maintenance manual that prohibits cleaning and painting the aircraft too often
