  1. For me, it's the combination of jets, and NO MFDs! Yup, I like things simple. No complicated radar sub-modes, no encyclopedia of mfd screens and gunsites, just pure airmanship, and basic weapons. The aircraft are gorgeous, the graphics are great, the FMs are convincing, (especially after the patch) and let's face it, if you love the F-100, F-4, F-104, etc. it's the only game in town!-Sledge
  2. OK I got USAF...now what?

It is a great game, I wish I could play it on my new machine. Is there any way to get this to work with my WIN XP pro system? AAAAAAArg!-Sledge
  3. MJ...Site Improvements

I agree with all the above!! Thanks for your hard work MJ!! We all appreciate it!!-Sledge
  4. Well, just installed the latest drivers for my Radeon 9700... No change. It seems none of the pull down menus will work. Can't select an aircraft in quick mission, and if I go to single mission I CAN select a mission, but the the program asks me to insert the USAF disk#1 when it IS in the drive already! Then, I get a ctd when I try to run it again! AAAAAARG!!!
  5. Yeah, I installed it like it said to do, renaming the original usaf file to usaf2, and moved the sound and texture files and all. I'm starting to think this might be a Radeon 9700 card issue or something. Alot of games would'nt run before I got the first drivers for the thing. Maybe there are some issues with it still.-Sledge
  6. Well, I got the super pro USAF update and I still can't get USAF to run! It'll go to the quick mission builder page and then when I try to click on something, like selecting the aircraft, nothing happens! This is very strange, thats what it was doing before too. Anyone else have this problem with Win XPpro? Thanks!-Sledge
  7. I have the extract utility and would like to do the mod for the F-100 that was offered by DK and I would like to fix the reversed rudders in my F-104, but how do you put the data back into those "secured" files? I know there must be a really obvious answer to this! Thanks!- Sledge
  8. Hmmmm... That sounds like a good idea. Think I'll wait!-Sledge
  9. Just got back from a trip so have not had a chance to try this yet. Thanks for all the replies! Time to get to work! -Sledge
  10. Well, this format is new to me. I mean, having some of these files in that bundle of secured files that you can't access without the extract utility. I was wanting to try to fix the F-100 like I said, but if you can only extract, how do you put the new data back into that secured file so the program will use it? I know I'm exposing my ignorance here, but I'm at a loss... Thanks Ranger!-Sledge
  11. Thanks Ranger! I'll go check it out. It ran great on my old win98 550 mhz AMD k6, so I never bothered to get any other stuff for the game except to patch it to 1.02F. I guess there are still some USAF fans out there. Thanks again!-Sledge
  12. My first flight lesson

Congrats on your first flight! I learned in a Cherokee also. Great aircraft! Keep the blue side up and don't forget to LOOK DOWN THE RUNWAY ON LANDING! ....Sorry, thats the former flight instructor in me coming out again....-Sledge

  14. Apollo project sims?

I am mostly a fan of air combat sims and to a lesser extent civilian sims, but I've always been fascinated by the Apollo program and space shuttle operations. Does anyone out there know if there is, in existence or development, a sim that would be believable? I've used microsoft's space sim, (an old dos based program) but it was not exactly what I was looking for. (Too much of a "game") X-plane's shuttle missions are fun, but the cockpit is not true to the real thing, and there is nothing about the Apollo program in X-plane at all. I'm talking about a real mission simulator, from pre-launch to TLI to LOI, lunar landing, and return to earth. If it does not exist someone should do this! Anyone else interested?
  15. Apollo project sims?

Thanks again Dagger! I completely missed the link there! Thanks to MadJeff, I'll check that out tonight!
  16. Just showing off

    Thanks Dagger!
  17. "Bunz out the Oven"

I know it's a month late, but congratulations! I have three little ones in my tribe (Potawatomi and Creek). My oldest is 13 and I just sent him up for his first flying lesson. It's great teaching your kids the stuff you enjoy. There's nothing like being a DAD!! Once again, congratulations!! Oh, and about that "enjoy it while it lasts" thing... Amen to that!! I can't believe how fast they are growing up!
  18. Just showing off

Is there someplace where I can read how to put a picture on my posts? They look great, and I'm pretty new to this, therefore, I'm clueless as to how it's done! Thanks!
  19. Apollo project sims?

Is this a fairly new sim? I've never heard of it. Where can I get it? If you can die that easy, it must be good! Does it have a convincing cockpit and visuals? Ah, so many questions!
  20. Same story here, busy during holidays, not much time on my hands till now. Hey!, I guess this is a response! :D
  21. Christmas card you would only find on a AF base

That's a beautiful thing! A hearty HERE HERE! Can't wait to see their new year's greetings!
  22. This is a great game, however, I have discovered that my rudders are reversed in the game. In any other game they work fine, but as soon as I go to SF, they are backwards! I am using Thrusmaster's HOTAS Cougar with PFC rudders. Anyone else have this problem? After a little more research, I have narrowed it down to just the F-104. The other aircraft have correct rudder response.
  23. It appears to be only on the F-104. The rest of the aircraft respond correctly! :? :?
