  1. TSFC stands for Thrust Specific Fuel Consumption; it means how much fuel the engine burns per hour. In-game I have noticed that fuel doesn't burn as fast as before; that means you won't run out of fuel as soon as you take off and circle around your airbase. A major improvement if you ask me, as it was quite annoying carrying external fuel tanks to compensate the excessive fuel burn rate for an "around the corner" type of mission having to leave valuable ordnance behind to do so.
  2. Great mod, Crusader! Thank you!
  3. According to unconfirmed Russian sources... yes. But so far I have not been able to find any serious bibliography to back up that claim. PS: it wasn't (allegedly) in OIF but in 1991 Desert Storm.
  4. It just so happens that my latest skinning project is precisely the WOE GR.3, so Crusader's enhacements couldn't have come in a better moment for me... I've always found the GR.3 to be a little bit underpowered, though the VTOL modelling is awesome. I've tweaked my GR.3 to carry heavier ordnance as in real life and have Sidewinder and LGB capability (though not entirely realistic as targeting by ground forces is not modeled, so the aircraft still needs a targeting pod for designation - I simply disabled the model entry so that it does not show in-game). Anyway, great job, Crusader!
  5. I am indeed very interested, thanks!
  6. File Name: Falklands War-era Weapons Mini-Pack File Submitter: ChrisBV File Submitted: 12 Dec 2008 File Category: Weapon Packs Falklands War-era Weapons Mini-Pack This is a small collection of skins for weapons used in the 1982 South Atlantic conflict by both British and Argentine forces. They are made with the Falklands All-Inclusive Mod by Kesselbrut in mind but, should you wish to do so, you can use them in any mod you like. I have chosen to include new LOD files available via the SF/WO* Community Weapons Pack since some skins are purposely designed for them and will not work with stock FLK Mod ones. However, I encourage you to download the Weapons Pack as it contains literally tonnes of new weapons ready for use. You'll get two skins and LOD files for different AIM-9 Sidewinder missile ("G" and "L") models. The Sidewinder "Lima" model was the latest and newest in short-range heat-seeking missiles in the Falklands War and is responsible for downing over 20 Argentine aircraft in air-to-air combat. It's meant to be available for the RAF Harrier GR.3 and RN Sea Harrier FRS.1. The GBU-123/B (LOD and skin included) is a 1000lb British Mk13/18 free-fall bomb fitted with a Paveway II laser guidance kit. It was used, despite a few early miss drops given crew's unfamiliarity with the system, with great success by RAF Harrier GR.3 aicraft having targets designated for them by ground forces. Argentine weapons included are the French-built Matra R550 Magic I AAM. Aircraft that should be able to carry it are the Argentine Air Force Mirage MIIIEA and Navy - Comando Aéreo Naval - Super Étendard... and last but not least, perhaps what was known as the most fearsome weapon in the combat theatre of operations: the Aèrospatiale AM39 Exocet air-to-surface missile, a weapon that caused severe losses to the Royal Navy Task Force by taking out HMS Sheffield, a Type 42 destroyer, and Atlantic Conveyor, which carried vital supplies for the British forces attempting to re-take the islands. This is the primary anti-surface weapon for the Super Étendard. CREDITS: -------- Original LOD files for AIM-9L/G and GBU-123/B obtained from the SF/WO* Community Weapons Pack , so credits go to everyone involved in that particular project. AIM-9L/G and GBU-123/B artwork based upon original work by JanHas, tweaked and enhanced for use in Strike Fighters. AM39 and R550 made from photo references found throughout the Web. Hope you enjoy this mini-pack! Click here to download this file
  7. Greetings everyone! I'm making a Falklands War-era pilot pack for both Argentine and British forces. They are basically re-skins of AmokFloo's outstanding modern pilot models, which I chose because they are simply great and work just fine for what I'm going to do. Even helmet types match closely the real ones for pilots on both sides I'm using this image as a basic reference as well as the few pictures I could find: Here's a WIP on the British Royal Navy Sea Harrier driver. Basic anti-G suit is done (with the exception of some minor details that still require further tweaking), as well as details on the oxygen mask, visor and such. Since both British and Argentine pilots had Western-type anti-G equipment, all I need to do is make a basic flight suit, anti-G trousers and survival vest and change colours accordingly. Very simple but will make pilots look like individuals: Adding shoulder squadron badges is proving difficult as I'm still trying to figure out how the model is mapped, but will get that sorted out sooner or later, don't worry: The original skin colour was a bit "pale", so I used a real RAF pilot photo for adjusting the colour skin tone (you can't say this isn't as real as it gets, can you? ): The goal is to have every pilot for each of the individual squadrons on both sides skinned, so you can have Sea Harriers, Daggers, Skyhawks, Super Etèndards and so on with individual custom pilots.
  8. It seems I owe X-RAY an apology  Dante-TJ's pilot is absolutely PERFECT, I just couldn't find out how it was mapped - and discarded it because of that - but after trying for a few hours, this is what I came up with: I see the oxygen mask is mapped but not active in the LOD, is it still there as a disabled part of the LOD or is it missing altogether? I'd love to see this model with the mask on X-RAY, I hope you accept a fool's apology for having doubted.
  9. Thanks everyone for your feedback and comments! I made two extra weapons for the Argentine forces this time, the R550 Magic I air-to-air missile: ... and the deadly AM39 Exocet air-to-surface missile: I shall be uploading the weapons in the next couple of days while I finish working on the pilots.
  10. I wouldn't dare I took a little time off from the pilot works to do some weapon skins. I got the new weapons pack by the SF/WO* community and I must say IT'S AWESOME!!!! I got a few weapons from it for the Falklands theatre (for the British forces) and did some skinning work on them: AIM-9L (Lima): ooopssss... AIM-9G (Golf): GBU-123/B (1000 pound Brit Paveway II LGB): I also think I finally got the double 'winder launcher thing properly sorted out: The skins are based upon original artwork by JanHas (a fellow Falcon 4.0 simmer and modder some of you may know; he's the true artist, not me), so I need to ask him for permission to release them. Anyway, back to the pilots, it is. Expected release date: within a week (and a few days, give or take... maybe 2, maybe 7, maybe 30, who knows ).
  11. Hi, I'm looking for a British Mk13/18 1000lb Paveway II laser-guided bomb mod, does anybody know if such weapon is available for the Third Wire series of sims? Thanks in advance
  12. How about a new skin for it...?
  13. LOL never mind, I found it, sorry for the inconvenience. I have been looking for this weapon for a long time so I finally could strap a couple of those to my GR.3 for a little pinpoint strike: Looks awesome and works like a charm, thanks!
  14. Where is it? I just downloaded the pack and I can't find it...
  15. Yeah, I know, thank you! Thanks! Soon... I hope A week, perhaps?
  16. Don't apologise. I thank your for your input  X RAY, I tried using Dante's pilot but... I don't know, it just didn't work for me. I hope you don't mind but I chose to stick with AmokFloo's pilot models. I know the British pilot is not 100% accurate but I think it falls within a reasonable margin, so I'm using it. Besides, I have already finished it and it doesn't look too bad, does it? Here's a minor update on some of the Argentine pilots (for the M5 Dagger, in this case): Still lot of work needed on this one but it's a start
  17. Awesome work! It may be a silly question but... is A2A refuelling modeled in SF/WOE/WOI?
  18. ScreenShots Sueltos
