J-10 WIP
baldo replied to 101tfs's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
some suggestion for you,may be helpful :) 1. 57mm rocket pod has 12 rockets inside, no russia type like 16/32 RP 2. 90mm rocket pod has 7 rockets, this is widely used 3. 122mm(130mm??) rocket is used in single mount 4. 212mm(??? not sure) or some other 'BIG' rockets are used before 70s, one photo showed a Q-5 firing them 5. Before 70s all the bombs are russia bomb copies, then go to NATO type, like what u said, MK.80 series, but some 500kg bombs looks like British 1000lb 6. About the cluster bomb, like standard bombs described above, before 70s they are russia copies. And then in the vienam some Mk20 rockeye are found and tested, but only a little copies made. Then, as we know, British gave the BL755 series, and they are widely used by PLAAF, in single pylon or MER,but NO TER is used, this bomb called type 250-3 -
where ist the F-7 topic?
baldo replied to 76.IAP-Blackbird's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
NO,at least not now. Erwin.Hans is working on a new cockpit with chinese symbols and busy refining the J-7s. Folks on insky are eager for J-10 and J-8II, And Rick gave us the lod file of J-10/J-8II for months, so these two birds will be the next. And maybe LOCKON mod team will make a J-8III, as J-8B/J-8IIACT will be released in a week. -
J-8 Finback
baldo replied to Erwin_Hans's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
yes,it will vibrate. As reported to be a big problem confused Insititute 601 for years, J-8 had been dangerously vibrating in Mach 0.89 and Mach2+ Great effort taken and then solved this problem, but still vibrate a little. Before J10(around 1400km/h), J8 is the fastest machine in low level in china. And from some rumour, she is also the fastest one in high level, Mach 2.2+ as designed, but even achieved Mach 2.35+ in test flight, the reasons why cann't be more fast are material and fuel, it's too hot for aluminium and not enough fuel when Full AB to boost more -

J-8 Finback
baldo replied to Erwin_Hans's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
I can't find Erwin on IM,so post this new description here. And, a new J-7E is coming soon. J-8II and J-10 are under working also. So,maybe some time we can have a new category of Chinese Aircraft J-8 (Jian Ji 8) / F-8 (Fighter Type 8) The J-8 was the first PLAAF aircraft of domestic design, with design work beginning in 1964, as a low risk backup project for the entirely new beast J-9. The overall configuration is a rather straightforward enlargement of the MiG-21/J-7 layout to accommodate two engines. Although it resembled Mikoyan's experimental Ye-152A, contrary to some early reports, it was not based on that aircraft. In fact, not like most people thought, it was designed to be an air superiority fighter instead of an interceptor. Production began in December 1979, with about 100-150 units of the first configuration entering service. Because the delay of research work, first block of J-8 have to use the old 30mm type 30-1 cannon and a radar ranger, with old Mig-21F-13 type windshield. They are called J-8(day type). Then the improved version came with 23mm type 23-2 cannon (Gsh23) and a new radar, with J-7II type new windshield. They then are called J-8I (day and night type, today the remained units are Middle Life Upgraded with name J-8E). Design work on the deeply improved J-8II began in 1980, with production beginning in the late 1980. As with the cancelled "Super 7" upgrade to the single-engine J-7, the J-8II completely reworks the front end of the aircraft, adding much larger radar and ventral air inlets, along with various other less pronounced improvements. Also, another upgrade project is known as ‘Pearl Peace’ with USA, using avionics of F-16. The best that can be said of the J-8 series is that it is the best second generation fighter of the world, but was born too late. When he is mass produced, many other second generation fighters are retired and even some third generation fighters are stopped production. But, whatever, it’s a great achievement for China. -

J-8II Finback Part II
baldo replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Great work man!!!!! But there may be a little mistake, the default loadout for CAS work is six BL755 with MER in center line under fuselage, two BL755 under outer-wing,and two external fuel tank( 760L/200galon ?? ), and could be two PL-5/PL-8 under inner-wing station, as this inner-wing stations have some length and load limit because the main gear. the center line external fuel tank is 1400L/370gal , am i right? -
J-8II Finback Part II
baldo replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
And about those weapons, why in the pics J-8 using russia bomb??? The bomb mainly for J-8ii is the 250kg cluster-bomb or you can call them BL755,and other bombs you can call them BAP100,MK-81,82,83,84 The main BVR missle is PL11 or call them Aspide,WVR PL8 Python。 The main rocket-launcher is HF series, but only 90mm type can be spotted, seems russia type 57mm/130mm are retired Since 1980s,most china planes are using WEST/NATO type weapon, and because the different pylon/interface,NO russia type weapon can be used in china build plane. Even the new built J-11(Su-27),they can fire PL11,PL12,PL5,PL8 but no R27,R77,R73. Though in some magazines it's said a new general pylon/interface is under designing. -

J-8II Finback Part II
baldo replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
J-10 do have some feature from Lavi/israel, but they are particularly in the FBW and Avionics design, NOT like many people think, in aerodynamics/structure. J-10 is the son of died J-9. And please never forget French friends help, j-10 is sometime called 'powerful mirage2000',Even now, some parts of J-10 are imported from France or helped by Dassault . As these two planes are designed in similar concept, more like a interceptor than a fighter, and Lavi ,is a light fighter-bomber first. These differents made Lavi and j-10 look similar but totally are two different plane, while M2k and J-10 look different but are similar -

How to add a Pylon?
baldo posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
every time i get a new plane,i always wanna add more Pylons to carry more weapon, just like their upgrade versions do. i get a F15e,and i know on f15k they add a pair of new Pylons outside i get a mig-29,and i know mig-35 have one more pair of Pylons i get a su-27,and i know su-30 also have more pair of Pylons i can't wait new planes to be released,so i do it myself as i do not know how to change the 3d model,i simply change the _data.ini, add new stations to wing or fuselag, and then fly. i do see the weapon there, right one, right place, BUT ,no pylon at all!!!!!! weapons can be fired, but without pylons,it looks ugly. so ,could u please tell me how to add stations with pylons -
