BTW, I think it's admirable that you are sensitive to the feelings of both sides in this conflict, and are concerned about posting vids/pics of battle damage to units still in service. I personally think that if a person does have a problem with that sort of thing, then they probably should not be playing ANY sort of simulation. :D We do the same thing with just about any combat sim, be it IL-2, Strike Fighters, LOMAC or Jet Thunder.

Cool new exhaust mod from Deuces
MadJeff posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Finally, some real exhaust! You can grab Deuces Dirty Exhaust mod in the Strike Fighters Oject Mods File area. Biohaz File Library -
Even though I've been swamped at work the past few weeks, I've been doing a little behind-the-scenes work recruiting. I would like to introduce some new Biohaz staffers to the fold, most of which I'm sure you will recognize. First up is VVanks, who is going to help out with news, graphics, and other assorted odds and ends he doesn't know about it. ;) VVanks has been a longstanding member of the flight sim community, and I'm sure you've seen his name around the different forums such as the Ubi LOMAC scene. He's also a great talent for graphics, as you can see on his site at http://wyn.vze.com/. Buff and Eric2020 are both well-known Project-1 fans and will be helping out on that front, as I just can't keep up with all the mods and such by myself. Eric runs the Strike Fighters Yahoo group as well as maintains the Project-1 Resource Listing. Buff, we just hired him for his looks... :P Last but not least, we have a newcomer to our site, Mongoose. While fairly new to Biohaz, you've probably seen him around the web as well. He brings a wealth of news experience, as he has a background in broadcast journalism, and was active in radio for 28 years. Mongoose not only has experience gathering and writing news, but was also involved in commercial production and script writing. God knows we could use some experience around here... :D So, everyone give the new staffers a warm Biohaz welcome! I know I am personally very happy to have them all aboard, and am greatful that they've stepped up to help. Thanks guys!

Help with Air Defense Complexes (sam sites)
MadJeff replied to SSP_Redy's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series Mission/Campaign Building
Yes, luckily they have pre-made SAM sites you can just drop in the mission. it would be really tedious having to drop those all in by hand. ;) -
That's easy, 2 block south of my house. ;) You familiar with the area?
-
Everyone's taking time off I think. I know I've been buried at work the past week. The pics are awesome, BTW. I need to dig out my old pics from the B-17/B-25/P-51 when they came through Walla Walla about 8 years ago, I got some great in-cockpit shots.
-
Wow, that looks much better. I can actually pick out all the real roads! I live about 2 miles south of Felts, and the area looks very realistic.

Cool, can you post some pics of Spokane area if you get a chance?

Strike Fighters Mod/Editor Needed
MadJeff posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Guys, I just can't keep up with you guys, there seems to be a new addon or skin almost everyday! So, I need some help. I'm looking for a Strike Fighters Editor/Mod at Biohaz. So, with that in mind, I'm looking for someone that can post news daily as well as patrol the Biohaz Strike Fighters forums with a light touch. I need outgoing people that like to help users by answering questions, as well as informing them of the latest news, files and such. HTML knowledge is great, but not required as the software I run is pretty user-friendly. It's relatively easy to post text/pics without HTML knowledge. An attention to detail is a plus, as is a friendly easygoing attitude, as we know how the community can be sometimes. ;) On the news side, there is a lot happening in Project-1, so I would really like to see new Project-1-related news items every day if possible (obviously depends on the day's events) as well as help gathering all the Addons & mods/tweaks/etc for the Project-1 File Library. On the forum side, for those of you not familiar with Biohaz, we tend to run a pretty friendly forum here, and we usually moderate things with a light touch. I've banned a total of 4 people here in 18 months, and usually one warning is enough to get people to simmer down. The good thing is we have a very friendly, mature community here that tend to police themselves pretty well. As for the Files Area, with the huge amount of mods always coming out, I need someone to help keep up to date with the Project-1 files. This person will be in charge of keeping us up to date with the latest file releases, as well as updates to existing mods. The last thing I'm looking for is dedication. I really need people that are going to stick with this. I've had other people in the past that were gung-ho and assured me they wanted the position, then never posted anything once given the job. If you are just kind-of interested in this, then please be honest with yourself and me and don't take the job. If you don't think you have the time, please don't waste your time or mine. =) But with a few dedicated people sharing the load, it will be an easy and fun job for all of us. So that's it in a nutshell. The most important thing is to have fun with this. I run this website with the attitude that it's not MY site, it's OUR site. Everyone has a say in things, and I like the team collaboration to create a community site that people really enjoy coming to. Like I always say, if you're not having fun, then why do it? It's not for the money... ;) So, you've heard what I'm looking for. Still interested? If so, then please shoot me an email and let me know if I've scared you away or not. =) I am shooting to fill these positions by the end of next week, so please get back to me as soon as possible. Also, when you reply, please let me know what your handles are on the other forums (Biohaz/SimHQ/Ubi/Frugals/Whatever forum you frequent the most) so I can get take a look and get a feel for your writing style and such. Thanks again and I hope to hear from you soon! Jeff "MadJeff" Bolden Site Owner/Admin www.biohazcentral.com madjeff@biohazcentral.com -
This is indeed bad news. It looked like a promising title.

LOMAC Missle Guaidance Explained
MadJeff replied to Fates's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
What a hoot! It sounds like some of my network security seminars sometimes... ;) -
About 60 minutes ago, 2 F-18's based out of Miramar collided over the Columbia River by Arlington (About 2 hours east of Portland) and went in. 2 people are dead, but one person ejected and was picked up by a boat. Apparently there were two explosions and debris rained down all over the river. This area has a lot of windsurfing activity and there were quite a few people around when it happened. I'll post more as I hear it, it's on the local news now...

Problems with Uploads? Please read!
MadJeff posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Guys, I've had several people comment that they have problems uploading files to Biohaz, and I need to get some honest feedback from everyone as to what the issues are. How many of you have had issues uploading to Biohaz? If so, what exactly was the problem? I have tried to make the upload process as easy as possible, but if people are not able to figure it out I need to hear why so I can make it better. I have really put in a lot of time and effort to make the File Area one of the best places around for Project-1 and LOMAC, but I feel like I'm fighting an uphill battle here. I check the forums pretty regularly to keep up with the latest releases, and find that 90% of the time I have to upload the file myself, as most of you send things to Avsim. Frankly, it gets a little frustrating sometimes. ;) So please, all of you modders/skinners please weigh in and give me some feedback. I need to hear the reasons why you are not sending stuff my way, so I can try and resolve the problems! -

Cool! I'm gonna start messing with this a little to get a feel for how things work. It would be nice to get a FAQ thread going to get people started, I guess I better work on that. ;) -

v1.02 patch = no CD check?
MadJeff replied to SlickWili's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
I thought that was common knowledge? That was one of the last things Matt got pushed through before he left. -
I was just informed we used up 50Gb of bandwidth on the file server already for the month! So downloads are down until I can get them shifted to my other file server tonight. I'll post when things are back online. UPDATE 2:45pm PDT - I moved all the Project-1 files over to the alternate server and changed the links, so they are now back online. I'll have the LOMAC files moved by later this afternoon.
