No, not a higher Tier tank, but a REAL tank. Huge metal beast. Pommes Panzers. That's great.

Thank you both for your thoughts on the tanks. There is still a lot of time left on the sale, so we'll see what Christmas brings. Yes, the kids have fun with it. My 11 year old daughter wants a real tank now. Cheers! Jeff

Wow, that is a surprise. Given that Dassault was practically giving the Rafale away in exchange for older Mirages. Good for SAAB. Nice to the Gripen move forward. -Jeff

I set WoT on my kids' computer and set them up with an account. So far they are only Tier 1 with minor upgrades. Mostly we go into a Training Room and fight each other. My daighter is having the most fun and has learned to use the autotrack function pretty well. Just need her to learn to run and shoot and not sit. WoT is having some special deals on Tier II tanks for $6-7. I'm thinking of buying them each one for kicks. Can you guys look them over and recommend a couple? The other night, had a couple of people griping back and forth about how everyone else is a noob and they shouldnt bother lowering themselves to playing with lower Tiers. In the end, both died. I did well in the M8 Tank Killer and captured the flag with 3 kills plus alot of damage to the other side. -Jeff

Six US soldiers were killed in a helicopter crash in southern Afghanistan

Any loss of life is too much but even more so, this close to Christmas. RIP! -
None of the Brit tanks really impress me. I've tried to move to the Medium III after finally getting sick of being raped by the T18s in my Med II. I could outgun them, but couldnt get out of my own way fast enough to survive. I figured the Med III would be better, but it's just a larger slower tank, with the same gun. More like an undergunned Heavy. Even the Tier IV Matilda is dismal at 28 mph. Geez, no wonder Monty needed months to get his tanks in line after D-Day. I think I'll sell it off and bid farewell to anything British, as I do not want to go light and get stuck as a damn scout!! Anything free sounds nice, but even the T7 car got old very quick. I've still got it (cant seem to force myself to sell it), but havent played it in a while. Even if it is an Elite tank, it needs too much teamwork to win in it, and we've already gone down that path. ;) -S

Gepard, your experience above is all too common. And not just in this game. Any coop program has the same. Everyone is out for their own points. Having an artillery piece is nearly worthless as players will try on their own to kill it (even though they know its a higher Tier and cannot be killed by their lower Tier gun) and end up dying. I'm frequently criticized by other players (usually those that have already died) to move from my perch and seek out targets. Why? I can be more effective from a hide and support with my large caliber gun. The idiots who charge the middle every time lead to the team's downfall and eventual loss. Again, your experience above is where people are spending money and jumping Tiers with premium tanks without the basic understanding of how to play to best effect the outcome of a battle with their tank. Lately, I've been randomly placed on many of these "teams".

I like the Medium, as I can have a decent mix of speed and hitting power. The huge heavies are of no interest to me. They just lumber around. I like to snipe as well, and spot from a distance, calling in arty. Again, thanks for the tips on the Brit line. -Jeff

Not much change in my tanks. Still trudging along with what I've had for a while. I'm getting rid of the T7 car. I don't care that it was a freebee. It sucks. Mainly because of the lame maps it get defaulted too. It has no place in some of them where it can scout, and/or hide. The T-50 is still a scout for the higher Tiers and I'm hating it too. So it'll go pretty quick in favor of the T-34. I'll eat some points to get it faster. The M4 is fun as you've both said. As long as I'm smart with it. Why do the Brit tanks suck so bad? I have the Medium II just to plink for fun on the lower Tiers, but above that, the Brit tanks kind of stagnate. Or am I not seeing things? -Jeff

The car's license plate says T-Bird, so I'm fairly certain the jets are meant as T-33s.

All Right CombatACE I'm curious about something ... do you have a second?

I already paint via an airbrush. -
Too bad I'm out of town for the holiday and don't have access to my computer.

You too Jug, as well as all my friends here. -Jeff

I see what you mean. The T-50 is still catagorized as a light tank and therefore automatically placed as a scout for higher Tier vehicles. Pisses me off!!! Without the 500K pts spotting scope, I'm screwed and fall victim to the enemy before they see me as they already have better optics and radios. Or the heavies want to up their own points and wont risk shooting unless they are 100% a kill, despite me spotting for them. Arty is the same way. At least two are added to a team, but many of the general shooters wont mark targets, so the arty goes unused. So I think the T-50 will have a very short career in my barn. Being a Tier III/IV light tank in a Tier VI+ battle is a losing situation. The move to the medium T-34 will keep me out of scout class, I hope. As for the T-70 and T-80. I still have my MS-1 (love it and the L.Tr), so going back through that route is an option.

The office loved it. Thanks!!!

Traded in my Tier III T-46 for a Tier IV T-50 last night. The T-46 was a fast little tank, but the gun options were poor. The Tier V 37mm cycled fast, but lacked the punch. So I reverted back to the slower 45mm and did much better. In the T-46, I'd always get put into a battle against Tier V or above and was just getting slammed. And I dont like playing the rabbit, as I'd never get any support from the heavies. Just a couple of battles in the T-50 so far. Scored well with the same VT-42 45mm gun and did like that I had several rounds bounce off my sloped armour. This is purely an experience points grabber for the T-34.

Nice score. Enjoy it. -Jeff

"Team" is a relative term. More like a mob is singletons all working for their own points, unknowing that if they would work together they'd get more. Idiots!
-
I'm working up to the T-34, and chose the path toward it purposely. Gaining experience for my Sherman crew slowly. Have to sit back a lot when I'm outgunned/armored. More of an opportunist.

Looks like a homemade movie with bad CGI spliced in. Stinks we cant get a really well made movie in this era of huge budget movies. Oh well...
-
Yeah, I've just figured that I should be scouting for the big guns in those battles. I just don't like being bait. Got my 76mm for the M4 today. Now I'm dealing out some punishment. -Jeff
-
As I said before, I really dislike the way the game matches for a battle. A level III tank against a level VI or VII is pure bull. I have a low chance of survival or even scoring. While I have seen a lot of crap typing back and forth, I generally disregard it. I'm working on getting my M4 up to a better gun so I can penetrate. Right now, the stock 75mm just bounces off EVERYTHING!!!
-
I have been looking to get those but didnt know how well the netting worked. For 100K points, it better be good. I'll look into the binocs too. Thanks Gepard. -Jeff

Flying Station's Buccaneer for FSX
ST0RM posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Hi all! Since not much action makes its way down to that MSFS forum, I thought I'd ask here. The title says it all. I thought this was an outstanding add-on for SF2 and enjoyed flying it. I'm hoping so. -Jeff
