You got hosed, as there are photos of the MB and TA-4K on static and flying over at Fence Check. http://www.fencecheck.com/forums/index.php/topic,24417.0.html

Exactly my thoughts too! Great to see the collection in excellent condition unlike so many other mil museums. Funds just arent there to keep everything looking as it should. Thanks for posting. -Jeff

And the next reverse engineered fighter in China is..........
ST0RM replied to MigBuster's topic in Military and General Aviation
And the A400M. The Chinese transport looks to be more on par in size the Airbus, but with tiny C-141 engines. -
F-21A Lion DLC
ST0RM replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Actually, he has done the opposite. What was once a very open architecture game, has slowly been locked down and limited as to what you can add, tweak or delete. That has been one of the major frustrations from the long-time followers of the series. Additionally, patches that were supposed to fix, ended up breaking even more. On the flip side, this F-21 DLC looks great. If I had any of the SF2 stuff installed anymore, I'd pick this one up for sure. Like Dave, this and the late model Hunter are my fav DLCs. -
There are times you want to pull your hair out. Or, TK's.
ST0RM replied to Heck's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
This is probably the only time I'll stick up for TK. When we mod, we run the risk of breaking things in the game. As has been said, modders are not the primary focus (despite the VERY open architecture). So anything we add, delete or tweak may have weird consequences. That comes with modding. A lot of trial and error. -
Hehehehe. Seriously, congrats!

Contrary to your focus on the MiGs, its more about the NK IADS. A LO aircraft needs to survive in a high threat environment and that is why the F-22 is well suited for this theater.

DCS: Combined Arms V1.2.3
ST0RM replied to Dave's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Thanks for the hints Eric. I tried a few missions and lived for a while. Fire and move. Need to configure my pedals and stick to allow more hands free for driving and shooting. But this is really cool! -
DCS: Combined Arms V1.2.3

Thank you for the link to the practice mission. I'll work with it and teach myself. I was shocked to see how little interface controls there were for vehicles. At least for the axis control. Only moving the turret really. -Jeff -
DCS: Combined Arms V1.2.3
ST0RM replied to Dave's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Are there any training missions to familiarize yourself with the controls/weps? Kind of like a crawl, walk, run. Just bought/installed tonight. -Jeff -
Any series similar to Dogfights from the other end of things?
ST0RM replied to Nesher's topic in Military and General Aviation
It's been several years now since I watched it, but from what I recall, it was mostly graphical. On the episode, they showed all of the F-15Cs were from Lakenheath, despite the unit not even formed until after the war. Some of the unit names got mixed up with what they did. A lot of small errors, but nothing like how the series started out. It was pretty spot on then. As for getting the series on the Canadian network, I dont know, I dont live there. I know that the 2 seasons were available from the History Channel's online store. Not sure now... -
Any series similar to Dogfights from the other end of things?
ST0RM replied to Nesher's topic in Military and General Aviation
They had a new female program director come in that wanted to compete against the reality TV shows on other networks. Is obsessed too strong of a word here? So she pushed Dogfights and other like minded actual history programs to later in the night/early morning to "prove" that they werent being watched in order to cancel them. It worked... Dogfights was a great show, but toward the end suffered from a lack of funding which effected it's accuracy. The Desert Storm episode was full of errors. Apparently, the Canadian TV network has picked up the series and it's shown up there. -
I'd gladly pee on that. Beer sales will go through the roof as the "players" will have to have a good stream of ammo to go the 55 seconds.

DCS Spring Sale!

Was going to pick up CA today, but it's not on their "Buy" page. Plus, I installed World, A-10C and BS:2 today but cannot get it to recognize my CH Products stick, throttle and pedals. So maybe I'll wait on CA. EDIT: Fixed the joystick issue. After much reading and internet searching I figured out that you have configure each aircraft seperately and that the training missions appear to be in full sim mode. So I was able to fly a bit. Now waiting for the CA fix so I can buy it. -S -
Nobody has ever claimed it was unbeatable. In fact it's not even a real dogfighter. It's meant more in an interceptor role, to sit at altitude, nearly invisible and clear out enemy jets. It's been proven that in a turn fight, it can be beat by a good pilot. The Super Hornet did it, the Brits and Germans in the Typhoon and now your HAF claim. I'll buy it. But a determined and well trained pilot in a decent jet, like the Blk52 Viper, can beat it. I knew a F-15E pilot who was on exchange with the GAF flying the Tornado IDS at Buchel. Not a dogfighter at all, but he got several gun kills on MiG-21s during a joint exercise. My point being that everything can be beat if you are determined and are trained well. -S

It's already bought and paid for. Having it as a hip-pocket asset is always something to keep the next guy guessing it good. It forces them to try and counter that next move. Now, has the USAF pissed away it's capabilities. Yes! I dont agree on how restrictive they have been with it. Sending it into places to "project power"? It has yet to be tried under any type of combat. It missed Libya in fear of it's technology being lost and has yet to be seen over Afghanistan. It's got a bomb dropping capability but... Is it worth it? Yes. The Eagles are old and the numbers have been severely reduced. We need a fighter than can lead the others into a high threat environment. Should we have purchased more? Yes, but Lock-Mart failed to deliver on their contract and we had to cut the numbers to afford what we did get. Sound familiar? -S

I miss my old TIR and would like to see if anyone has a working TIR 4 lying around for a reasonable price. Please list here. Would like to keep it in the US for shipping costs. Unless its the deal of a lifetime of course. Thanks! -Storm

Something very nice in work for FS2004
ST0RM replied to Soulfreak's topic in Microsoft Flight Simulator
DAMN!! With all of that AI vehicle traffic, I'd swear it was FSX. Getting all of the AI to move at the right rates must have been a coding nightmare. Would love to see it for FSX. Thanks for posting. -Jeff -
Strike Fighters 2 Screenshots
ST0RM replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Screen Shots
Despite not playing the game anymore, I still peek into the Screenshot thread to see some of the latest. I have to say that the new releases are still outstanding and just raise the bar for a game of this age. The SH and MiG-29 aircraft are especially nice. Skins also. They keep getting sharper. -Jeff No screenshot, but... -
Havent posted back here in a long while, so I missed your offer. I got one about a year ago. The headset/IR portion broke after 5 months of use so I had to request a replacement. Other than that, it's running great. Hopefully you sell it as they are a must for simming.

I used to "fly" on WestCoast ATC in FS9, but when I moved over to FSX, I couldnt not get connected. After some tweaks of my router, I was able to get on very sporadically, but the sessions kind of died off. I think a lack of participation drove off the ATC guys. Sad as this was a fun environment. -Jeff

DCS: Combined Arms V1.2.3
ST0RM replied to Dave's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
That AFV/MBT action is pretty sick. I can just imagine another player rolling in with a Hawg and shwacking a few on their own too. Or having to find cover from a marauding Frogfoot. Nice! -Jeff
