Operation Odyssey Dawn
ST0RM replied to Peugeot205's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mission & Campaign Building Discussion
I don't remember the Mirage 2000Cs being part of the op. Maybe add some UAE or Qatari decals/paint. We don't have the B-2, so that kills nights one & two operations. Don't forget us tanker guys. -
Happy Birthday Sony

You are correct, but at least I can use it NOW, and not wait until September or another "two weeks". -

ST0RM posted a topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
I just downloaded and installed Flaming Cliffs 2.0 to my LOMAC install and noticed that one of my photographs was used in the mission page. The F-15C Aggressor photograph behind the pilot is mine. I took it in 2006 at Peterson AFB, Co. They modified it slightly by flipping it the opposite way and placed it over their background. I want to inform them of their copyright violation and seek compensation. Thanks! Jeff -
The AWACS tried directing the rendezvous and messed it up again Nice combo photo Ant!

SF2: North Atlantic Ideas
ST0RM replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Piggy-backing on Dave's thoughts. take a look at this page. This covers all of the Coronets from 1970 to the 1990s for ANG deployments to Europe. This will greatly help with planning accurate units for a scenario: http://www.sharpshooter-maj.com/html/coronet_index3.htm -Jeff -

Request for clarifications regarding the differences between the F-15D & F-15E Eagles
ST0RM replied to SkyStrike's topic in Military and General Aviation
D & Es are two different airframes. The Echo has a stronger fuselage overall, optimised for heavy weapons. The D-model was a modified C with the Bay 5 avionics bay (behind the pilot)redesigned to hold a cockpit. It is very combat limited as it has no internal ECM systems. It was basically a combat trainer. F-15B 71-0291 was the second B-model off the line, and was the E-model demonstrator. It wore the Euro I scheme. Aside from looking like a Strike Eagle, it had FASTPacks with MERs, not what the E has today. It wasnt even wired for LANTIRN and I've never seen pictures of it carrying the pods. -S -

Virtavia Bone? I hate paying their inflated prices for half-finished jets. Nice shots though. -

Yes, an interesting read. But, IMO, its an outdated theory. The A-10 is great at CAS because it can carry an impressive weapons load and can loiter for longer durations than an F-16 with a smaller load. But converting to a drone would take away it's one trump card. The gun. CAS is more than dropping JDAMs and LGBs. If you rewrite the mission to only include that weapon employment plan, you might as well save the money and stick with the current Predator and Reaper since they are already doing that very thing. Saturate the air with those and you don't need a $30Mil QA-10 that, oh by the way, still needs a tanker and other expensive support. I just dont think our remote piloting programs are up to the challenge of engaging ground targets with all of what the A-10 brings to the fight. -S

Enemy list? They stole from me. Well, I sent off another email to several people within ED. If I don't hear back, I'm going public on every forum board I know of and will spread the word. In today's anti-piracy world, I hope I'll get the backing from the masses. Whats sucks is that I was going to buy the DCS:A-10 sim. -
I'm trying to hook up through FSX and always get a timed out error. Since the instructions on WCATC are mostly for FS9, I'm having a hard time troubleshooting my problems. Any help? I miss flying on this server. It was awesome! -Jeff

They host flights several times during the week. However, they are limited to certain regions throughout the US. So this week is the Dallas/Ft Worth area. Next week might be Ohio. You'll have live ATC controllers vectoring you around. It's fun.

You know, if I was stealing from them, I'd be strung up and sued. These guys basically steal from me and drag their feet. Tick, tock... my patience is running out -
F-15C questions, especialy Israeli ones
ST0RM replied to squid's topic in Military and General Aviation
The F-15C/Ds they recieved were new built jets. From more than one source, the last 5 F-15Ds were actually E-model airframes, configured to D-model specs. So they are structurally stronger. And they do use the D-models as bomb trucks. The F-15 always had an A-to-G mode, but the software was deactivated. A couple of years ago, there was talk about reactivating it on the "Golden Eagles" and certifying them for JDAM drops since the airframe is already cleard for the Mk.80 series of bombs. Obviously the IDF has done so with theirs. -S -

Here we are nearly a month after Matt/ED and I came to an agreement and I've received nothing from them. After a quick note inquiring as to the status, I've received no reply from their UK office who was supposed to be handling it. If the 26th comes and goes, I will then move to plan B and it won't be as nice. -

Brilliant Stary. Such a huge level of immersion. Thanks! Jeff -
We pass the trash, every day. The new, nicer military seems to cast a blind eye to certain officer's and their history. Shameful!

Why not. Isn't that why we've got forum boards? To discuss things? Maybe you are right. Let's delete this whole thread. -

ST0RM replied to Romflyer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
That picture, based on the lack of the white stabs and flaps, is around 1980-81. VF-84 received Block 95 jets already with the nose cone pitot tube in 1977. So TK's early screenshots without the probe, are incorrect for VF-84. -S
