Well it's official
ST0RM replied to Romflyer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
The paint jobs aren't time specific based on the screenies. I've noticed a difference in F-14A models in the various screenshots. Some early F-14As without the nose pitot and later shots with it. The screenshot angles dont allow me to view the gun vents to match the timelimes either. Overall, this will affect paint jobs and the slight variances. (ie, with/without white tails, flaps, etc...) Yep, I can rivet count too. -S -
I'm building that -204 Centennial Hornet in 1/72. I would have loved to get pics of it on my own, but it never went where I could get to it. Great vid and pics. -S

Awesome 81st skin. A couple of critiques. Prior to 2008, with the Panther head, black fin caps with yellow lightning bolts were the norm. White bolts even earlier. And the caps covered the inside and outside, and were not on the rudders. Another awesome addition to the Herk fleet. Thanks Dels! -Jeff -
Here is a closer photo of it. Credit to the same photographer as above

Excellent bit of photog work. The angles you've captured are very complimentary, as is the museum lighting. Looks like you had the run of the place. No random heads in any of the photos. Thanks for sharing. Jeff

Thanks fellas! Taking some leave for the weekend. And, I just opened up a box that had a Track IR for me. Winning!! Cheers! Jeff

After some back and forth PMs with Matt, we've come to a solution on this. Thanks for the support. Jeff -
Beautiful country! The spa photos were really cool. The style of the building would fit into the retro look that is making it's way back into fashion. I hope that some investor comes along and returns it to it's former glory. Thanks for sharing. Jeff

Struggling in US, F-35 fighter pushes sales abroad
ST0RM replied to MAKO69's topic in Military and General Aviation
It doesn't. That's the point. The requirements had to be adjusted as the aircraft progressed (or not). Now it's overdue and over budget. The B-model isn't needed and doesn't do what it should. So it may get cut reducing the numbers and driving the cost per aircraft up. -

Thanks Dels. A proper Harvest Hawk! You rock! -Jeff -

Thank you all for the support and assistance. I've contacted Matt and will await a reply. Yes, with all the hardache over piracy, you would think ED would have done their research a bit better. I'll hopefully post a positive solution to this as I get it. Thanks! Jeff -
First Production Model F-35B Delivered
ST0RM replied to starfighter2's topic in Military and General Aviation
I worked that ramp (Eglin) for 1.5 years. It's changed a bit. Even more now with sun shades, no F-15s and Marines. Might have to pay a visit to the 58th when we head south in March. -S -
Government snuffs AT-6 in favor of Embraer’s A-29 Super Tucano
ST0RM replied to Fates's topic in Military and General Aviation
Slightly off. The USAF/ANG operates the C-27J which is an updated G.222. We also fly the T-6 Texan which is a licensed copy of the Swiss PC-9. I have to disagree with this decision though. Commonality of many spare parts with the T-6/AT-6 would seem like a clear advantage. But apparently the AT-6 just didn't cut it, where the Tucano did. Or the AT-6 needed more dev time?!? But once again, lawsuits will drag this out. -
You guys are thinking too "conventionally". Given the opportunity, the Iranians will strike first and with the hardest weapons in their arsenal because they know that they won't get a second chance. Closing the Straits did not work out well for them in the 80s and they've learned from that. The real question is why aren't the Gulf Nations doing anything about this? It's their backyard. -S

I'm staying back from this game for quite some time. MS screwed the FSX buyers by not completing the game and patching it to work properly with DX10. Instead, it flashes and half the animations don't work. I'll be waiting to see how the reviews pan out, before trusting MS and their new game. -S

USN Phantom questions
ST0RM replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
BuNos stayed the same as their previous type (B or J). My N-mod had the ECM painted on the skin as I didn't have a LOD to add it via the fake pilot method. -S -
I try and go after the radars, instead of the missiles themselves. That seemed to reduce some of the activity since they are harder to replace. -S

The 57th got Charlie Eagles in 1985, so both the F-4 and F-15 could be included. -S -
Mirage Factory C-135A/B and KC-135A/E/R
ST0RM replied to hurc's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
I had no issues during testing. The leading edge flaps retracted with the trailing edge ones, as is the norm. Let me do some checking in the ini I've got here. It's the same as what I sent Dave. -S -
Me too, but fulfilling initial release features should have been a priority.

That is some beautiful animation Mannie. I'm not doubting that. Just don't expect it from TW. Like I said, on the 2002 release box, drag chutes were to be a feature. -S
