Talking with the operators, many share the same thoughts. No such thing as "On time, under budget", anymore.

Luke AFB F-4 skins?
ST0RM posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I could have sworn there used to be some skins for the F-4C or F-4D that were from the Training Wing at Luke AFB. Or am I smokin' rocks? If someone has them, can they send via PM? Thanks! -S -
Luke AFB F-4 skins?
ST0RM replied to ST0RM's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Here is a quick update shot. These are for the stock TW model, but based off of Ant's SEA templates. I'll be doing more for mppd's Phantom models also. Pardon the low quality of the screenshot. My laptop is 4 years old, so it's not up to the latest graphics quality. -
No A-7 Corsair Squadron in default SF2:Europe?
ST0RM replied to Helmut_AUT's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
To help you a bit if you care about accuracy. (I know, it's a fictional campaign anyhow) The units still flying the A-7D were mostly ANG. But one Active-Duty hung around until '81. The 23rd TFW (Flying Tigers) out of England AFB, La. It's actually represented with tail codes in the defaults decals. Here are the Guard units: 114th TFG, SD ANG started in 1977 121st TFW, Oh ANG started in 1978 127th TFW, Mich ANG started in 1978 132nd TFW, Ia ANG started in 1977 185th TFG, Ia ANG started in 1976 140th TFG, Co ANG started in 1974 156th TFW, PR ANG started in 1976 162nd TFG, Az ANG started in 1978 169th TFG, SC ANG started in 1975 As a stretch, you could also use the 355th TFW, Davis-Monthan AFB. They tranferred their aircraft to the ANG in 1979. Good luck. -

Some WIPs of new skins. -
Not sure if you knew this, but Don Logan is also a former F-4E/F-111A WSO. He was flying in a Phantom over North Vietnam, when he was shot down in Jul 1972. He lives in Wichita, so getting his books is as simple as a 30 minute drive. He's a great scale modeler also. FC, the Sword kits are nice! As you mentioned, it has some issues, but leaps above the old 1/50 Testors/Fujimi kit.

That is one of the projects awaiting my return. Need to put up some shelves and clear the floor space.

Those are awesome. I'd love one for my garage. I wonder if them make them for the two car garages in the States?

It does make one stop and think. Thanks

The hydraulic dump vents are underneath the wings, outboard of the #1 and #4 engines. One for each system (2 systems). When overserviced or the crew leaves the system pressurized prior to engine shutdown, they will piss fluid all over the place. Well, the question is what will happen to the money. Will it be spent as promised; to further and speed up the F-35 program? Or will it end up elsewhere, not helping anyone. If this gets drug out for a long time, the money won't go anywhere and we still lose.

Weapons range in SF2?
ST0RM replied to Planejunky's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yes. Just install the basic pack and then use the Range update by Wrench. In the Range.ini file, change the pointers to the Desert/Desert.cat if its not already done. Works fine. -
The crew of an F-15E Strike Eagle went down this morning in Afghanistan. Pray for the families of both and for the squadron mates they left behind who are still out there doing the job. -Jeff

Luke AFB F-4 skins?
ST0RM replied to ST0RM's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Got the first one nearly complete. 63-7426. But after talking with Mike, I'll probably re-do the whole thing. Still plodding along. -
Invisible Mavericks
ST0RM replied to daddyairplanes's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The default SF2 weapons list already has the CBU-24/B. While trying to use the revised CBU-24/B shape by mppd, the SF2 series requires a different approach. In SF2E, the revised CBU-24/B (SUU-30B.lod) must be posted in the weapons folder. In SF2V, it was ok to place them in the Objectdata folder alongside the default SUU-30.lods and just make the text change in the wep editor to use the new lods/textures. -

Luke AFB F-4 skins?
ST0RM replied to ST0RM's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Thanks Mike. I just re-downloaded some of your SF1 SEA Phantom skins. I'll start with them. I can't find any higher-res SEA templates. -Jeff -
Field of View - TrackIR
ST0RM replied to JG7_X_MAN's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The view is aircraft specific. Using the F-16A_Blk10, open the cockpit.ini Scroll down to the [CockpitSeat001] See the values for MaxYaw, MinYaw, MaxPitch, etc? Adjusting those numbers will increase or decrease the FoV to the left and right, up and down. I don't have TIR4, so I don't know how to adjust it to utilize it's full potential. -S -

ST0RM replied to ataribaby's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Impressive work with the different variants and their peticulars. Thank you. -
Tornado this time. Most likely German. Thankfully they made it out safely. Bad week for mil aviation.

Nice static line. That RF-4 is awesome! Looks like the weather was hit and miss, but much better than last year. My best friend flew over from Kansas, just to attend this and the show at Waddington. He's finishing up a 3 week photo vacation over there. I can't wait to see his photos. He got rained out last year. Thanks for sharing. I would have loved to be there. -Jeff

I don't question the abilities of these ladies, and applaud them for achieving this position. But why do we have to go out of our way to make an all female crew, just to make the news? For Women's History Month, our deployed Ops Officer put together an all female crew from 3 different crews, just so PA could write about it and fly along. It wasn't the normal day to day op. They didn't fly together normally. I felt it would have been a better event had they left the crews as is and wrote about how integrated females are into previously male only or male dominated fields. Just my $.02

I just watched a BBC program on him. Interesting Gentleman. RIP Sir!
