Air Refueling Mission
ST0RM replied to redcorsair's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Air Refueling is not truly represented in the sim. The tankers are only there to give you something to pretend with. -

Nice choice of callsigns for the tanker Paul. We're Pythons here. In fact I was Python 40 yesterday. -Jeff -

First look at new B-52 Cockpit
ST0RM replied to Dels's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Another excellent cockpit. Between this and your J-model pit, you are putting out some fine work. Thanks! -
something interesting happened in SF2 Europe
ST0RM replied to whiteknight06604's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Which F-86D? The D-45 or D-31? I requested the D-31 and F-86L be removed as I missed several things during the update. I'm working on them now. They both flew fine in SF2E. AI had no problems with them. Are you on HARD for your FM setting? I tested in both. One thing I did notice is that the AI does pull very hard when manuevering. If you are just after takeoff, low speed and/or close to the ground, they may have simply stalled and spun in. -
Updating Older Planes to SF2 Standards
ST0RM replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Open up the SquadronList.ini and you can use the entries in there to create new ones for the new units. Here are some examples: [squadron00X] Name=106IDF DisplayName=No. 106 Spearhead Squadron Nation=ISRAEL [squadron00X] Name=58TFS DisplayName=58th TFS 'Gorillas' Nation=USAF [squadron00X] Name=VF114 DisplayName=VF-114 'Fightin Aardvarks' Nation=USN [squadron00X] Name=617RAF DisplayName=No. 617 Squadron 'Dambusters' Nation=RAF -
Was sent to me this morning. If it's truly written by a soldier, then good on 'em. It's exactly how I fealt during that circus. THIS WAS WRITTEN BY A SOLDIER IN IRAQ . I was just watching the news, and I caught part of a report on Michael Jackson . As we all know, Jackson died the other day. He was an entertainer who performed for decades. He made millions, he spent millions, and he did a lot of things that make him a villain to many people. I understand that his death would affect a lot of people, and I respect those people who mourn his death, but that isn't the point of my rant. Why is it that when ONE man dies, the whole of America loses their minds with grief. When a man dies whose only contribution to the country was to ENTERTAIN people, the American people find the need to flock to a memorial in Hollywood , and even Congress sees the need to hold a "moment of silence" for his passing? Am I missing something here? ONE man dies, and all of a sudden he's a freaking martyr because he entertained us for a few decades? What about all those SOLDIERS who have died to give us freedom? All those Soldiers who, knowing that they would be asked to fight in a war, still raised their hands and swore to defend the Constitution and the United States of America . Where is there moment of silence? Where are the people flocking to their graves or memorials and mourning over them because they made the ultimate sacrifice? Why is it when a Soldier dies, there are more people saying "good ridence," and "Thank God for IEDs?" When did this country become so calloused to the sacrifice of GOOD MEN and WOMEN, that they can arbitrarily blow off their deaths, and instead, throw themselves into mourning for a "Pop Icon?" I think that if they are going to hold a moment of silence IN CONGRESS for Michael Jackson, they need to hold a moment of silence for every service member killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. They need to PUBLICLY recognize every life that has been lost so that the American people can live their callous little lives in the luxury and freedom that WE, those that are living and those that have gone on, have provided for them. But, wait, that would take too much time, because there have been so many willing to make that sacrifice. After all, we will never make millions of dollars. We will never star in movies, or write hit songs that the world will listen too. We only shed our blood, sweat and tears so that people can enjoy what they have.

Gunner, Bombardier positions
ST0RM replied to Jack Morris's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
It does (the F-16), but adding a modern CCIP to a WWII bomber would be inaccurate. Have you seen the new pit for the glass nosed Canberras? The pilot/bombardier view by Kessselbrut is outstanding and the concept might be tranferable to other aircraft with some work. -
Updating Older Planes to SF2 Standards

I've been converting some of the skins for use on the new models. One would think that an old A-4E skin would work fine on the new A-4E(through 65/67). Nope, TK moved stuff around. Decals are out of place and details do not match. VMA-211 is done though -

Love the new views. Now to learn how to level bomb using the sight. -
I got into this discussion once with some random person while at an airshow, of all places. An older couple approached my group as we were photographing the show. They asked if we were professional photographers and we explained that we were Air Force. Long story short, the older lady asked if I had been deployed. I said "yes, many times." Well she went on to tell me that she was for the troops, but against the war. I didn't say it there, but it got me thinking. Can you be for the troops, but against the war? What we are doing in this war is our main job. To fight. So if you are against the fight, then aren't you really against us?

Not from what we've seen. There have been a few WoX VirSqns advertise here that they were starting up or restarting , but they didn't appear to go anywhere. Find some buddies and use Himachi.

Reminds me of the golf course at Hurlburt Field. You'd chip onto the green and there would be a gator there. "Ahh, I'll just take a 5 on that one", and quickly walk away.

Frankly, I feel the media is as worse an enemy to us, as the Taliban or Al Qaeda. As has been said, they report on what will get them the highest ratings. If it means giving the military a black eye, so be it. It's in the name of giving the public "the truth". The truth? Give me a break. Journalism is only a means for one or a few to get their point of view out to millions. To me it's just more propaganda. On that note, see my next post.

SF2/SF2V Knowledge Base
ST0RM replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Knowledge Base
Noticed a typo on the stock SNEB rocket pod. It was listing ROCKET68 as the Rocket Name (under Rocket Data), so no rockets would be loaded/fired. Change this to SNEB68, save and you're ready to go. -

Is F-16 the only modern US jet fighter to have "blocks"?
ST0RM replied to SFP1Ace's topic in Military and General Aviation
The KC-135Rs are up to Block 40.4. The .4 signifies some software updates to the basic Blk40 upgrade to the entire aircraft. -
