Makes for a decent What-if, but that's about all.

India cancels $550 million attack helicopter tender
ST0RM replied to Atreides's topic in Military and General Aviation
Boeing sounds like a broken record. On how many programs are they going to request an extension for? Seems the other companies had no problems with getting their proposals in on time. I'm for the American products, but Boeing's on time track record over the past few years is horrible. They do it to themselves, but it affects many more. -
Building new airbases

Awesome! I'd really like to see Ramstein get some love. -
False. I actually like the PS3 as it's more capable and user friendly in relation to the XBox 360. The games on the XBox are just more to my liking. The person below me has never been in MY kitchen.

Building new airbases
ST0RM replied to ST0RM's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Ok, so if something is already pretty far along and done by people much more experienced than I, then I'll just wait and move on to something else. I may still try the object placement via the targets.ini though to try and see what I can come up with. Thanks much for all the replies and info! -
A civil mod for TK's sims
ST0RM replied to Gepard's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
You could even include some of the Army National Guard helos with a Bambi bucket or MAFFS C-130s. Or even civil Coast Guard missions. -
Looks to be a scripted mission, like the B-17 gunner in the CoD:UO or the AC-130 mission in CoD 4. The Blackcat PBY-5s were some crazy dudes. They, along with the Air Apache B-25s, are some of my favorite units from WWII.

Ghost, I'd gladly take you up on your offer, but I'll be back in the sand for a large part of the late Spring and Summer. Otherwise you might have had an entire -135 crew to host. Drink a cold one for me, will ya?

Modern F-16 cockpit
ST0RM replied to ST0RM's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Ok, not a MF cockpit. My mistake. What I did notice is that the later cockpit does have the left MFD working with the radar. It seems I've broken mine with the transfer. Right now I'm going through line by line to figure out how to get it reactivated. Well, with that. Is there an Avionics70 capable F-16 cockpit with all the bells and whistles? I don't recall one being done, but more of just a quick ini edit to change GroundMode to GM, etc... -
I'm not even British, but the more I've learned about the TSR.2 program and it's very abrupt end, makes me sick. The amount of money wasted and then discarded when they chopped up the airframes. Allowing 219 to be used as a target on a bombing range? At least someone had enough sense to hang onto 220 and 222. The Arrow is another case in stupid political interference.

anamation backwards after patch - how to fix?
ST0RM replied to vampirella's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Flip you DeployValue with your RetractValue. If you notice, the number for the deploy value is a higher speed than the retract speed. -

J79 Exhaust Effects
ST0RM replied to Spillone104's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Awesome mod. After just refueling F-4s, this is exactly how I saw it. Nice work. -
Got turned onto this over the weekend. A friend up on KC has it installed at his business and he and his employees all play at lunch. I'm on my free 2 week trial and will subscribe. I also played hours on Air Warrior when it was free on AOL. Tried playing it payware for about a year after it went that direction, but the BS factor got too high, so I dropped it. I'm currently using ST0RM135 in AH.

Sound acceleration when throttle pushed up
ST0RM posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'm using some 3rd party sounds for my installs. The one I'm having an issue with is the F110-1 engine sound I use on my F-16s. Whenever I push the throttles up past 50% or so, the sound accelerates also and sounds like crap. Is there a fix for this? I did a search, but cannot recall this ever coming up as a topic. Even the KB was blank. -Jeff -
Sound acceleration when throttle pushed up
ST0RM replied to ST0RM's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Ok, went back and cross checked with the stock WoI Netz and your 65-68% was correct. I wasn't understanding the value system TK used as he always seems to use something different for each. Anyhow, got it fixed and the sound is much better. Thanks Fubar! -
Opinions.......

That is awesome. The attention to detail is great. Yes, you need to release it. -
A sad day all around. Over the past year, I've made 3 trips to Edwards in support of the F-22 CTF and directly worked with Mr. Cooley in the air during the flight tests. My condolences to his family.

Sound acceleration when throttle pushed up
ST0RM replied to ST0RM's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
For the MF F-16C Blk 52 it shows in the data.ini as 0.20 for the idleRPM. Is that close to 60-65% that you listed? -
Anyone interested...

Happy Birthday Dave! Time to get back up on the flying horse.

AIR REFUELING
ST0RM replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Most players probably use the Alt-N function and warp to the target area, right? If A/R is implemented, the guys who want to use it and actually fly the whole mission length would benefit. Taking off in a fully loaded Viper, my aux tanks are nearly empty. In fact, I usually load my wingmen with less weapons to decrease their fuel consumption as they play catch up to me. Or I orbit overhead the field to allow for a quicker rejoin. The drive to the target, and maybe a little loiter time to ensure mission success, plus the occasional A-to-A if you get jumped. Fuel is life. Having air refueling would be just another step closer to realistic operations. But as I said previously, a proper mission editor is a must in order to make it work right. Unless TK added dedication A/R tracks on the maps where the tankers would always be. -Jeff -
AIR REFUELING
ST0RM replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Said Yes for obvious reasons. But honestly, in real missions you have to A/R to get to the target or get back home. In some cases, both. Having a mission editor that would allow you to create missions where the tanker is in the right place(s) is a must for A/R to work in this sim though. -

Pretty sick Kevin. Always happy to see more life put into the F-4.
