F-105 rather abnormally large bomb bay
ST0RM replied to Anthony W.'s topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Was wondering, but I figured they wanted to have all 3 bays available. Great info FC. And that story of the rotating tank is priceless! -S -
The idea for this flight sim is commendable and quite original. I just think that the execution is wrong, along with the marketing. After the initial post here from the devs, they've not came back to answer some of the questions. Basically, Pay and you shall receive. Oh well. I'll wait until release to make up my mind.

Provoked? If you only knew the BS we go through to ensure we dont go near Iranian airspace...
-
No, they still carry A-to-A missiles.
-
I'd store away a bunch of aircraft. Paying much attention in preserving them for those 60 years of waiting.

The A/R probe is out! While just eye-candy, I think it's awesome. The amount of animation in some of these models is great. I've been unsuccessful at finding the animation for the Phantom's wing fold. Does it even have it modelled? -S

F-105 rather abnormally large bomb bay
ST0RM replied to Anthony W.'s topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The B-1 also has special removable tanks that are placed in the bomb bays for deployment/redeployment flights. -S -
Ultra Sabre Lights

Yep, I'll take a look at it tonight -
Wow, some big shoes to try and fill. The few songs I've heard from Slipknot, I only really cared for Duality. It's a good angry running song. Love the scary mask thing though. Gotta have a gimik when your "music" is just so-so.

The HD stays running for an abnormally long time. More so than my own laptop or any other that I've seen. What she is mainly concerned with is why it will CTD when trying to view photos in a folder. By default, Windows opens a folder with photos displayed as thumbnails. This causes the computer to nearly stroke out and takes 30 minutes for it to load. If you try and view a photo, it will CTD. Not understanding how the PF worked, I assumed that because it was using a large amount, it might be a culprit. It could be simply that Toshiba laptops suck :(

Prop Engine Values
ST0RM replied to Dels's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Dels, This isnt related to the engine, but the Herk FM in general. Have you figured out how to overcome the standard upward pitch tendancy? The aircraft seems to have a tremendous amount of lift or trim. You are always fighting the aircraft to stay level? Being a Herk baby, I hope you get your project squared away. The Four Fans of Freedom will always be close to heart. -S -

My Projects (EricJ)
ST0RM replied to EricJ's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
That sucks. We always had a 2-3 hour lay over in Shannon for a crew swap and fuel, coming out of wherever. They allowed us to have a few in the terminal lounge, before reboarding. In uniform and all. Bummer dude. But there will be time for that soon enough. -S -

Cant wait to do the assymetrical loadout like the OEF birds. Looks great! -S P.S. Ireland huh? Have a few Guiness' did ya? -
I've heard some great things about Sam Adams' Chocolate Bock. It's about $15 a bottle (big bottle though), so you had better be a fan. I also like Blue Moon. Their beers are all pretty tasty and have a nice variety for different tastes. The Pumpkin Ale rocks! -S

That because I wasnt talking about the airframe only. The weapons and configuration will not be something radically new that will eat up time. They are using already tried and true weapons. The 25mm Bushmaster is a contender and is used on the Bradley. Talking with a few gunship guys I still know, engineers wanted millions to redo the mounts for the aircraft. The gunners simply showed them how to do a minor modification to the existing mount design. Problem solved. The idea for the Gunship Light is not to replace the AC-130, but as you said, supplement them. You cant be everywhere at once and the AC-130 fleet is requested everywhere.

Disregard. Went over to the A2A Sim/Shockwave forums and read through the Tech Support threads. I'm slowly getting this thing playable. -S

I just got this sim today via download. I've installed the 2.08 patch plus multiskin. I use a CH Products stick and throttle and while the game recognizes the stick, the throttle (after I assigned it) works backwards. I have the same issue with the screen res as Hinch. It is low and really lousy, no matter what I set it at. Where is the key listing? I'd like to map my stick/throttle. Thanks! Storm

TEST
ST0RM replied to Veltro2k's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Looking good Ed. Just stretch the fuselage before and after the wing about 8ft each. Will make a nice Saudi, French or Brit AWACS. Is Nikki going to jump out of a cake for you? -
Did anything change as in new programs being installed? Or after I ran the Spybot/Ad Aware, did anything change? Yes and No. The PF usage went down to 250Mb, but I really havent seen much change, so I think it might be something deeper. Avast, huh? I look for it. Thanks! Jeff

Happy Birthday Ed. Hopefully you find work, very soon! Jeff

Boeing is trying like mad to find more customers and missions for the C-17 airframe. I'm looking forward to the AC-27J. I think it's one of the smarter moves the AF has made recently, in regards to acquiring new aircraft. COTS (Commercial Off the Shelf) is the way to go and doesnt keep the aircraft in a drawn out testing phase for years. -S
