Russian built a/c for Wild Weasel missions
ST0RM replied to WDH's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Again, correct me if I'm wrong, but the MiG-25 doesnt just instantly accelerate to Mach 3. Nor is it impossible for it to fly at normal speeds when required. As for the MiG-31 not being used in the SEAD role. I wouldnt disclued it altogether. And for this sim, why not use it. Here's a pic I found of a BM carrying Kh-58 ARMs and you'll notice R-77's also. -S -
Experienced flyers/drivers are always welcome. Cheers, Storm

New sim released: Thunder Over Vegas
ST0RM replied to streakeagle's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
I see this as something to get kids back into simming, rather than WoW or some other RPG. I hope it does well and has them wanting more of a challenge later on, so they may move onto other sims and keep the demand alive. -S -
No. My first was back in 2006 at Edwards. A/R'd with Raptor 8 on a test mission. When I took the photo above, I was giving a checkride, so my hands were free to shoot pics. We're getting alot of the Holloman Raptors as of late. -S

Actually, you are correct. My mistake. I was thinking of the later BM and the Kh-31 combo. Thanks for the correction. -S -
Russian built a/c for Wild Weasel missions
ST0RM replied to WDH's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The MiG-31 was designed with SEAD in mind. IIRC, the Kh-31 is the weapon of choice. I'm sure some of the other guys will chime in with more info for you though. Hope it helps you get started. Jeff ----------------------- Just did some quick research in a couple of books I've got in my office at home (non-classified). Along with the Foxhound, the MiG-25BM, Su-22M3/M4 and Su-24M/MK are fitted with the Kh-58U "Kilter" Anti-Radiation missile and are/were used in the SEAD role. Also, China's Su-27MKK has the ability to carry the Kh-58UshE ARM. So, thats an even better start for you. -
@Silverbolt, Thanks! Here's another of my favs. She's an old cougar, but still does the job very well!

How to couple Flap operation to Landing Gear operation?
ST0RM replied to SidDogg's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Thanks Sid. Got the flaps set for a 30 and 50 degrees with the appropriate speed restrictions. Now to mess with the fuel tanks/capacities and many other things. Man, I wish I could model in MAX to help out. -Jeff -
I'm rather fond of this one. Took it just last week.

Radio DJ's are some of the lowest scum on this earth, IMO. Todd and Tyler out of KC are some of the worst bunch. I just read that a Congressional Aide leaked info to the press in regards to the initial debrief. "No official initial finding of the cause of the crash was given, but a congressional aide who had been briefed on the crash said the pilot was trying to land at Miramar after his right engine malfunctioned. The aide spoke on condition of anonymity because the information was not yet public." What an a$$hole! He/She knew that they werent supposed to release anything and yet they did it anyhow. On the other side, I feel for the father/husband who lost his family that day. -S

How to couple Flap operation to Landing Gear operation?
ST0RM replied to SidDogg's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Pardon me for piggy backing on your thread, but if I wanted to limit the flap setting to a speed (to prevent overspeeding the flaps), would I adjust the DeployValue of that flap in the data.ini? I'm working on the KC-135 from Veltro and we have 4 flap settings (5 if you count up). For Flaps 20, our speed limit is 230kts, 220kts for 30 degrees and on down to full down at 50 degrees. I'd like to add this. Thanks! Storm -

Ok, you know this is going to come up, so I'll ask first. Is the parachuting pilot a new add-on that you've discovered or Photoshop? Nice! -
Inflight Map Icons
ST0RM replied to serverandenforcer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Nice update! What would be cool is the have individual aircraft classes with their own icons. Helos, bombers, etc... Maybe someday when we get a real C&C function. -S -

ST0RM replied to Jug's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Yea Kevin, I did ask you a while back when I was messing with the MH-60 and AH-6 lighting, IIRC. I was meaning more of a true strobe, like on the tail of F-16, or on a helo. Bummer, as that would be a cool effect. -Jeff -

ST0RM replied to Jug's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I've tried to make strobe lights, but couldnt get them to work right. The timing interval in between flashes and intensity was ok, but the time of the actual flash isnt modelled (or known to me), so it just looked like a bright and rapidly flashing light. Great light work Jug. Thanks! -S -
avionics70.dll need help
ST0RM replied to lindr2's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Terrain Avoidance was disabled in the Avionics 70. Bt GMT, do you mean the Ground Mode of the radar? It should be listed as just GM and not Ground_mode in the AvailableModes section in the avionics ini for the specific aircraft. The Ground Mode just maps what is in front of you and targets will appear as white blobs, but are not be targeted using the radar. Hope that answers your question. -S -

Nice touch. http://www.airliners.net/photo/Iran---Air/...iger/1416172/L/ http://www.airliners.net/photo/Iran---Air/...iger/1398085/L/ Great work from all of you guys on this F-5F. Especially FC. Looking forward to the family model. Thanks! -

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the T-34 using a Hurricane FM as in interim? I could have sworn I read that. -S -
