  1. I talked to Klav about how did the new voice-overs and he intentionally added the static/noise to give it the radio sound, versus just a conversation over a phone. It's heads and shoulder above the default, IMO, and gives us an idea of what can be done. Combines with the COMMS mod, the immersion is much better and my SA is way up. -S
  2. Kind of digging into the archives here, but I had a similiar problem with Ramon Air Base during the Golan campaign. It wasnt showing up. After doing a search, I came by this thread. In game, Ramon wasnt active until 1981, so that explains why it wouldnt be there yet, as that is a correct date. As for Etzion Air Base, the in game dates for it are 1973-1974, but according to some research I did, the Osirak raid launched from Etzion in 1981. So, something isnt correct. It's replacement was Ovda Air Force Base, which opened in 1982. -S
  3. Ranchhand was the early Spec Ops dudes flying the T-28s and A-26s, IIRC. Wasnt Skyking one of the EC-130s?
  4. It came up a while back in the ATO for the AWACs. It didnt last very long. I remember our Eagles at Eglin used Cylon also, amongst other things. -S
  5. Dave was a 'Wacker by proxy. The AWACs has two crews on board. One is the flight crew that will use the callsign for the entire jet, say Dome 51. The second crew is the mission crew in back running the radar and directing traffic. They have their own tactical callsign, such as Darkstar or Cylon. Hope it helps. Storm
  6. Yea, but they are the only ones most people talk to. We only call the front end guys when it's time to give them gas. The funniest was when the back end crew would talk to the front end crew, over the radio mind you and with different callsigns, directing them where to go for our A/R. We're in our jet saying, "Dude, use the ICS, you're in the same plane". Comical...
  7. Yea, "Magnum" for the HARM shot isnt in there that I've seen. At least we did get the "Rifle" call for the Mav. Maybe we can update the Shotgun call to Magnum. Have you guys tried Klavs' Wingmen Sound pack? I installed it last night and am amazed on how much better it makes the modern game. Here's the link: http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autoc...p;showfile=6797 I think you'll be impressed. This shows that with a lot of time and patience, a modern soundtrack can be done. -S
  8. I had a similiar problem tonight with my WoI install. Did a search before I started a new thread and viola', it had already been asked. What a concept... Anyhow, I've added the Egyptian Mirage 2000EM to my WoI install and when I added some weapons for it (specifically the Matra 155 rocket pods), it would cause the missileobject.dll error. Here is how I listed it in my weaponsdata: [WeaponData212] TypeName=LE_155 FullName=Matra Type 155 Rocket Pod ModelName=le155 Mass=195.050003 Diameter=0.430000 Length=2.500000 SubsonicDragCoeff=0.200000 SupersonicDragCoeff=0.770000 AttachmentType=UK,FRANCE,W_GERMANY SpecificStationCode= NationName=FRANCE StartYear=1984 EndYear=2020 Availability=3 BaseQuantity=40 Exported=TRUE ExportStartYear=1984 ExportEndYear=2020 ExportAvailability=0 WeaponDataType=2 RailLaunched=FALSE RocketTypeName=Hydra-70(HE) NumRockets=18 ROF=0.000000 FireEffectName=RocketPodEffect FireEffectTime=0.150000 FrontCoverNodeName= RearCoverNodeName= ShowRockets=FALSE Rocket01Position=0.000000,0.100000,0.000000 Rocket02Position=-0.082000,0.100000,0.000000 Rocket03Position=0.082000,0.100000,0.000000 Rocket04Position=-0.041000,0.100000,0.072000 Rocket05Position=0.041000,0.100000,-0.072000 Rocket06Position=0.041000,0.100000,0.072000 Rocket07Position=-0.041000,0.100000,-0.072000 Rocket08Position=0.000000,0.100000,0.144000 Rocket09Position=0.000000,0.100000,-0.144000 Rocket10Position=0.082000,0.100000,0.144000 Rocket11Position=-0.082000,0.100000,0.144000 Rocket12Position=0.123000,0.100000,0.072000 Rocket13Position=-0.123000,0.100000,0.072000 Rocket14Position=0.164000,0.100000,0.000000 Rocket15Position=-0.164000,0.100000,0.000000 Rocket16Position=0.123000,0.100000,-0.072000 Rocket17Position=-0.123000,0.100000,-0.072000 Rocket18Position=0.082000,0.100000,-0.144000 Any ideas on why it would cause an error? It appears to work fine in WoE, so I'm clueless. Storm
  9. Blackhawk art

Whoops, meant to type Cheyenne, not Commanche. Here is th AH-56: Storm
  10. Something wicked this way comes... Great work! Jeff
  11. Success! Created two new additional entries for 119 and 201 Sqns in the Squadronlist and then edited the campaigns to include the RF-4s. Works great and I dont lose my pure fighters. So, if anyone wanted to add this to the mission/campaign building section of the KB, the engine will not allow multiple entries from the same squadron name. A slight variation must be made. Another example would be in Vietnam. You had some FAC units (TASS) that flew the O-2 and OV-10 within the same squadron. Back to editing. Storm
  12. Delete the 'AircraftObject.ini' in the Objects folder. It's an older file and messes with the controls. -S
  13. Frankly, I wish Red Crown would shut the **** up. If we had the ability to change the voices, I'd get rid of her and replace it with an AWACs or ABCCC (Darkstar for E-3s, and Cricket, Hillsborough, Alleycat and Moonbeam for the Herk) Or even better, a Brit Nimrod MR3/4 for joint ops. -S
  14. Blackhawk art

Looks Cheyenne-ish. Nice job. -S P.S. edited for my mistype
  15. Looks great Lloyd. Another aircraft to add to my ever growing IAF install. Thanks!
  16. I was quite thorough and ensured everything was numbered correctly. I dont like to simply stick the new squadron entries at the end, as they will appear out of sequence. Deleted it after it didnt work. I think the course I'll pursue next will be an separate squadron for these jets. No. 119 Sqn 'The Bats' Det1 for the Recces. This should get past the game's inability to have more than one squadron entry. -S
  17. Jug, your ability to capture the true feelings of one's statement/reply, is unrivaled. You must have been great with OPR/EPRs. Very well said. Ghostrider883 -- Seeing that you from India, and therefore upholding national pride is a concern of yours, allow me to explain. I wasnt downplaying the IAF or the Su-30. Simply put, I dont hold a lot of stock in what ANY journalist says. If they aren't a current/qualified combat pilot/crewman, then they are not giving us the entire picture, just a snapshot based upon what you were allowed to see. If the IAF wasnt willing to show us the full capabilities of the jet, do you honestly think they would show it all off to a civilian that gets paid to pass on information? As Jug said, flying backseat in a fighter is mainly an incentive ride. An untrained guy back there is just self loading baggage. Storm
  18. Jane's USAF on XP

GCI as in Ground Controlled Intercepts, right? I vaguely recall having some vectors, but was it scripted or dynamic? I remember spending hours playing USAF. Both on and offline. Plus the various mods. Good luck Sparko. -S
  19. Ok, since it seemed this was uncharted country, I went ahead and did it. I added two additional AirUnits, 1 each for 119 and 201 Squadrons and equipped them with the RF-4E, renumbering everything in the data.ini and the woicamp5.ini Went into the game and for that campain, the units show up right after each other and reflect the different aircraft. But when I selected that campaign and it loaded up, the F-4E hangar screen came up. The game defaulted to the Kurnass, even though everything pointed to the RF in the second entry. So I guess I've answered my question. Only one entry per unit, unless I renamed it in a minor way, ie [AirUnit013] AircraftType=F-4E_IDF Squadron=119IDF [AirUnit014] AircraftType=RF-4E_IDF Squadron=119IDFr [israelUnit012] UnitName=No. 119 Bat Squadron ForceID=1 UnitID=13 StartDate=04/01/1974 AircraftType=F-4E_IDF DescFile=woi5Start.txt StartText=woi5Start.txt [israelUnit012] UnitName=No. 119r Bat Squadron ForceID=1 UnitID=14 StartDate=07/01/1976 AircraftType=RF-4E_IDF DescFile=woi5Start.txt StartText=woi5Start.txt Let me think about it some more. I like flying Recce missions, but it would be nice to have some RF-4s running their own recce runs flown by the AI. Storm
  20. Ex-Payware

Got the F3D Skyknight, which I had been wanting for quite a while. Time to go fly it now. -S
  21. "I shot you" "No you didnt" "Yes I did" "Nope, it was a ricochet" And on, and on... Only those that flew in this Flag, will know the truth. The reporters will say whatever they can to save face for each force. -S
  22. India sinks Somali pirate ship

I keep having images of the 80's when the USN would escort tankers through thr Gulf, protecting them from the Iranian gunboats and A-6 Intruders dropping Mk.20s on them. Pirates... Get a real job and stop being a cliche'
  23. When Dave Gets Bored

You're going to go blind with that screen. Does Sheila know yet? She's going to make you earn that one ;) Congrats
  24. Thanks, but I did know about that. I was really wanting to give the unit the ability to perform both missions within the campaign, since they were a mixed-mission squadron. -S
  25. Welcome to CA, Steamer. And thanks for the offer. I hope that someone will take you up on it. Unfortunately there aren't any recent sims that have the Echo. Microsoft's Flightsim 2004 does, but you cant employ weapons. But they do have a pretty large group of virtual squadrons. You said you haven't done any online simming, but if you are looking for something to take along on cruises, the Thirdwire series of flightsims are pretty good and relatively easy on a medium level laptop with some graphic features turned down. It's a great time killer in between missions. I take mine along on all TDY/deployments now. They do have a Foxtrot and I believe an Echo is in the works, plus a Tomcat with VF-14 markings. Again, welcome. Hope to see you around the boards. We've got quite a few mil flyers who are members here. Storm
