Sweet pic! Thats a VF-154 Black Knights Tomcat in the foreground. Anyway you could send me a high-res scan? I'd like to try and clean it up a bit. I'm sure some of my fellow boom operators over in the Gucci jet would appreciate it. Please PM me. Jeff

Thanks Aggie. Must have missed it. Storm -
JAS 39C Gripen Progress
ST0RM replied to Gux's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The Gripen has been cleared to carry the L/M Sidewinder, plus IRIS-T, A-DARTER, ASRAAM, and Python 4 & 5. I have not seen anything on the AIM-9X yet. Storm -
Anyone add wingfold system for F-4E ?
ST0RM replied to 101tfs's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Wrench, the E and F both had the wingfold, but not the mechanical system as on the Naval Phantoms. They had to be manually folded/unfolded by the ground crew. They were used when space was a premium. Storm -
Airfield Creation
ST0RM replied to krfrge's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Dual runway ops would be great if we could start from the ramp. We could go to one, while the rest of the flight launches from the primary. Good luck with your bases. Storm -
Big planes - Small airfields?
ST0RM replied to cgold's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Not to highjack a thread, but was there anymore interest in finding how we could fly from the Highway/Autobahn in the Germany map? That Harrier camp sounds cool though. Storm -
BOZ 107/C dispenser
ST0RM replied to ST0RM's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
RC_007, Thanks for the info. Mine was not in there for some reason. After using it in game, I didnt like that the chaff/flares deployed far from the back of the pod, so I tweaked the first set of numbers a bit to match it up with the back of Boz 107s. I uploaded 3 images for your enjoyment. All are around 1280x900-ish. I just ask that you dont remove my sig block at the bottom of each. More to come. Enjoy! Jeff

How can I tell apart which missile is fired at me?
ST0RM replied to JKstar's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
That was more of my point. There were so many new things coming out all at once, it was hard to keep up with everything. Thanks to guys like you and so many other modders, this sim has lasted a long time and is getting better with every release. Storm -

How can I tell apart which missile is fired at me?
ST0RM replied to JKstar's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I agree, there have been many small mods that really tweak the game to be real user friendly, but get passed over because they arent descriptive enough or get lost because there wasnt a centralized download site. Before CA, SimHq was the focal point for mods, but nothing was done as a cohesive working group. Trying to key word search for a certain mod (like the voice/comms mod and radar screen removal mod) is difficult enough, but looking through 5-10 sites for it, drives you nuts. Storm -
Got home Thursday afternoon from my latest trip over the desert. We flew 35 times and I surpassed the 100th combat mission goal I had set for myself when I became a boom operator in '05. Well, today I figured I'd try and boot up the ol' dinosaur for a quick flight in FS2004 since I havent touched it in 3 months. I guess she is done for though, as I kept getting a blue error screen each time I'd try and run a program. Even a system restore would cause a crash. So, looks like I'm done for quite some time. I got a good 5 years of use from this one. Here are a few photos from the latest trip: Tornado GR.4 over Baghdad Indiana and Vermont ANG F-16Cs Misawa Samurai "BOB" "New" A-10C Gaggle of Warthogs headed home from OEF So what have I missed and will miss out on? Cheers! Jeff

MV-22B Osprey Mod for ground attack
ST0RM replied to John's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Back in my AFSOC days, the original CV-22 was supposed to be armed with a retractable turret under the fuselage. For reasons unknown to me, it was not implemented. Another concept had the scanner windows armed with miniguns/.50cals like the MH-53s do. Now it appears that only the tail ramp has provisions for a weapon. Storm -
Thanks for the info S.E. I was thinking more of which skins are used and how they affect others with a stock install. So as long as you dont mess with the ini files, there shouldnt be any conflict using extra skins? Now to get my mic to work right, so I can use TS.

Connected up with StreakEagle and another guy tonight. Flew a bit and am happy to be back online. What mods are you guys flying with, so that I can create another install for MP? Storm

How do I get the login p/w and channel p/w?

Hey gents, I was asking Dave about some online play and I'm interested in joining up for some vFlight time. If you will take an USAF Boomer, that is. Maybe I can fly the KA-6D ;) Jeff
-
Thanks for all the kind words of encouragement. I really appreciate it! Weasel Keeper, that is too funny. Yes it is a small world. I'm looking through my log, and I think I got to refuel your jet once, but no pictures. If there were any scratches, they didnt come from me. ;) I'll see if I can upload a few shots to the Gallery for calendars or whatever. Jeff

Holy crap, the prices are crazy now. My desktop is way behind the current standards (by 4 years) and have decided to start looking at a new system. I'm pricing something that I can game with, plus run and edit my photos in Photoshop CS2 instead of using my laptop all the time. Even a mid-range system is at least $2K. How do you guys afford upgrades and new systems every couple of years? Maybe I'll try selling blood?!? Storm
-
Yea, I tried them first and saw that everything on their site is way out of my price range. The USAF doesnt pay that well. I understand that periodic upgrading is the way to go, but my system is so old that it's not feasible to try and salvage anything from it. I'll keep looking around. Storm
