  1. So I set up a mission with a combined NATO force going against a Russian airbase and a rather large armored column.

I put one S300 site in the game... multiple launchers, the works. I also added two ground radar, and a Tunguska and 2XShilka in the column. And 2 more Shilka's around the airfield. So it's a pretty good defense.

I've got 2 German F-4's doing wild weasel, 2 Mirage's doing escort, 2 Tornados doing ground attack, 2(me) A-10's doing ground attack, and 4 F-18's doing ground attack.

1 Backfire on anti-ship duty, and 3 Su-33 on CAP.

    Problem!!!

My wildweasels, and my Tornados bug out and drop their ordinance as soon as the SAMs start popping up. Basically they turn themselves into fighters, but they don't do much of anything other than evade SAMs until they get shot down.

F-18's never make it to the bombing area so scratch them.

I was trying to make it so the Tornados and Hornets would make it in and do some damage on the SAMs and AAA before I and my wingman arrive to knock out the armor.

Obviously this doesn't work because the Weasels bug out. Also, if I order my wingman to go SEAD, he climbs and then draws fire, then he dumps his load too.

Is there anyway to actually make the AI engage the SAMs?

Note: all a/c are at Average ability.

Sorry if this is an old problem, or if I come off as an idiot, but I've just now given LOMAC a shot, so I'm in need of some help.

    Thanks,

    J

  2. Hmm, Russian pilots are often criticized for flying their aircraft at what western pilots consider "dangerous" g's, speeds, and altitudes... Russian pilots reply: "It is okay, the aircraft can handle it".

Heard this while watching a documentary on the Fulcrum on the Military channel.

We all know that the ruskies tend to have some problems keeping aloft in their Fulcrums at airshows.

Isrealis... probably the best dogfighters. USAF.... best equipment. Russians.... totally f***ed in the head. USN NAVAIR.... pretty good all around, which makes them the best IMO, but I'm also biased.

  3. I'm dreading the day when pilots are deemed unworthy of aerial combat.

Maybe the new movie "Stealth" will help the public opinion in this..... although it looks like a very lame movie.

Yes, BUFF, this incident was a year ago, but seeing that you are a Scotsman, you got access to the info before we did.....

  4. Oh ya, mother of GOD I've become conservative over the last year. I still voted for Kerry, but that's just because I hate W, Chenney, and Rummy.

I know... NO POLITICS, but it is important to note, since I was so staunch a liberal some time ago. Now I'm a moderate who leans to the right.

  5. Well, it's been a while since I posted here, and it's been even longer since I was a regular.

Basically I stopped playing flight sims for a while. I may try out the new patch for PF though. I've been playing the Stony Road mod for Hearts of Iron, and I've been playing a lot of Rome Total War lately. However I did buy WOV some time ago, but it reminded me too much of SF (horrible memories) for me to take to it, but I may give it another go. My PC is still pretty average so I can't play LOMAC. Oh and I fell in love with ESPN NFL 2K5, and played some Halo 2. So that's the news on gaming.

As some of you may recall, I was planning on joining the Navy, and going to OCS after college. Well last semester sucked, because I've been mentally finished with college like 6 months. So now, I'm finishing my degree this summer, and I WILL graduate on August 6th. But...... here's the fun part. I've lost all interest in the Navy, I hate the Chair Force, and the Army is... well the Army. Sooooooo, I'M GOING TO BE A MARINE BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR! I will probably ship out to boot in late August or sometime in September. I haven't signed anything yet, but that's just because I'm trying to work out routes to OCS. It's looking like I will go Reserves or Enlisted first, because quite frankly, I'm out of shape (not fat, but no Marine either).

Btw, I finally quit smoking. It's only been a week, but I have absolutely no want of cigs at all.

Also, I am engaged to a very smart, loving, and beautiful woman (kinda looks like Katie Holmes)...... and she's pregnant. Our child is due on January 8th. She stands behind my decision to become a Marine. All she asks is that I don't get killed, and I would be inclined to agree. I think we'll do okay while I'm away, but being an Army brat, she understands.

Also, I've lost almost all taste for alcohol. Well, I don't binge drink anymore, so that's good news.

So within the next six months, I'll be a college grad, a Marine, a daddy, and I may be married within that time frame.

    Cheers,

    Jason Saffell

  6. Ya, I've been kinda busy lately.

It's Senior year, so I kinda have to care about school, and I've been going out more.... my negative balance in my checking account shows it

And all my gaming time lately has been taken up with Rome: Total War (Awesome, go buy it!).

But Pacific Fighters is lookin' good, so I'll be back in skies when it hits the shelves.

.... that means loads of screenshots of my victories

    Cheers,

    Snap

PS. Really diggin' the new site layout, MJ.

  7. Yeah! We have a flood watch, tornado watch, and Tropical Storm Warning here in Tallahassee.

And T.K. Wetherell (President of Florida State University) has refused to cancel classes. But I skipped my night class anyway, because FSU floods from 2 inches of rain, and we will be getting that shortly.

At least Ivan changed his track, 3 days ago it was supposed to come right into Tally...

2 deaths from tornado's already reported in Bay County FL. This could get really nasty...

EDIT: I went home to Melbourne this past weekend, and the Space Coast is not looking to hot. Power is still out from Cocoa Beach south, and many homes were damaged including 2 of my neighbors (roof's collapsed)... THANK YOU FRANCES!

  8. One day, in line at the company cafeteria, Jack says to Mike behind him, "My elbow hurts like hell. I guess I better see a doctor."

"Listen, you don't have to spend that kind of money," Mike replies. "There's a diagnostic computer at the corner ddrugstore. Just give it a urine sample, and the computer will tell you what's wrong, and what to do about it. It takes ten seconds and costs ten dollars...a hell of a lot cheaper than a doctor."

So Jack deposits a urine sample, in a small jar and takes it to the drugstore. He deposits ten dollars, and the computer lights up and asks for the urine sample. He pours the sample into the slot and waits. Ten seconds later, the computer ejects a printout:

You have tennis elbow. Soak your arm in warm water and avoid heavy activity. It will improve in two weeks.

That evening, while thinking how amazing, this new technology was, Jack began wondering, if the computer could be fooled. He mixed some tap water, a stool sample from his dog, urine samples from his wife and daughter, and masturbated into the mixture for good measure.

Jack hurries back to the drugstore, eager to check the results. He deposits ten dollars, pours in his concoction, and awaits the results. The computer prints the following:

    1. Your tap water is too hard. Get a water softener.

    2. Your dog has ringworm. Bathe him with anti-fungal shampoo.

    3. Your daughter has a cocaine habit. Get her into rehab.

    4. Your wife is pregnant...twin girls. They aren't yours. Get a lawyer.

    5. If you don't stop playing with yourself, your elbow will never get better.
