  1. I've installed CFS3 and OFF on my d-drive (I'm keeping the OS, games and the page-file separated on three different drives). When I go to install the patch it tells me it can't find the path. I have the option to point the patch-install to the correct location but I have no idea to what I should point it. I guessed the OFF Manager but I don't want to screw something up, so...help! And would the same answer be true for the mini-patch too? TIA. :) Forget it, I WAS being thick. It was the lack of the RAR program causing the problem. Duh.
  2. Windows 7

I'll give that a go, but I'm pretty sure I gave the stick a go in W7 before I loaded the drivers and there was nada going on with it.
  3. Anti Aliasing.

Well that's odd then, because even at x8 FSAA I'm still seeing jaggies in the game. And that's at 2560x1600 resolution. I'll go back through the settings and see if I missed anything. Thanks chaps. :)
  4. It does automatically find the game's install location. As edited into my OP the problem I had (and mis-identified) was not having a RAR-reader on my PC.
  5. I quite often suffer with the 'thousand yard stare' with this rig.
  6. Windows 7

How do you mean, "without the program"? You mean the separate programming software or the drivers? And yes, FFB was enabled in the Workshop and in the CFS3/OFF Manager control window. I think it's pretty much a case of MS farmed-out the netcode and FFB code in CFS3 to some bunch of shonky 3rd-rate programmers like Bohemia Interactive.
  7. Windows 7

I deleted all the control assigments except the axis, which improved things (the throttle worked at least) but the stick was still very sloppy and gave FFB only under extreme maneouvers. Zero centering force to talk of. The thing is it was never that good under XP either. The stick works ok in W7, just not in the game (CFS3 and OFF). The stick I'm using now has a good centre-spring, so all I'm really missing is the MG rumble (if I keep telling myself that I won't miss the FFB so badly).
  8. Windows 7

Oh well, simple solution was to go back to a non-FFB stick. Works fine now.
  9. Windows 7

Looks like I'm stuffed. Zero FFB in OFF (including no spring-pretension whatsoever, which leaves the stick flopping about and useless) and in CFS3 it's either zero or the stick pulls fully back and stays there. I've installed the Saitek drivers "Vista & Windows 7" for both the stick and rudders, tried setting them in compatibility mode for "older programs" (in the Saitek properties window), calibrated them both in and out of the game, no joy (stick...har har). I get no throttle in OFF either (works in CFS3). Anyone have any ideas, or is this a W7 thing? My stick is a Cyborg Force 3D by the way.
  10. Windows 7

I recieved and installed my copy of W7 (32-bit) yesterday. So far I've tested only CFS3 on it, and that runs fine apart from the FFB stick being totally fubar. I intend to get OFF installed today.
  11. OT New 'Total War' coming

Steam...all of the full retail price, none of the full retail hard-copy. And patches/updates up to a week later than everyone else.
  12. Modelling, on and off through pretty much all of my life, motor-bikes and shooting. I have a lathe and mill and make most of the parts for my own gun and sell similar to others. The bike was sold last year.

  14. I can't get my head around why anyone would build a 7/8th's size replica. For the sake of just a bit more material why not go for the full thing?
  15. Queens Own infantry and FFL ex-slogger here. I passed all three sheets in the British army and could have been anything (except para, I was too tall), but I chose infantry because I thought it would be the most fun. The captain in charge of selection even made me go away and think about it for another week because he said it would be such a waste. Damn he was so right.
  16. On a related note, nine times out of ten in my brief experience with the Dr1, the first enemy burst damages the engine. Even fire from directly behind. Maybe it's hit-box is too big or something.
  17. I suspect there's not a single original piece of wood or canvas on that plane, so it's pretty much a replica attatched to the original engine, instruments (probably mostly new components too) and data-plate. It's the old question...at which point does a restoration change an original to a replica? Whatever, certainly not worth millions of my cash.
  18. Can't help with 2) and 3), but you'll have a better experience if you choose to be the flight leader on all sorties. And welcome aboard sir!
  19. Holy schmoley, how many kites?!
  20. You only get a forum like this when a game is genuinely excellent. Anything less and you get the inevitable "fan-boys" vs the "trolls". The reason there are no "trolls" here is because there's zero sustanence for them.
  21. Welcome aboard mate. You'll soon find this is one of the best games you ever bought.
  22. I was testing my FPS a couple of hours ago, on the first hotfix, and flying down on no-mans land at about 25ft altitude right through an arty barrage. Suddenly, out of the smoke and flying earth in front of me I get streams of MG-tracer coming at me from all directions. It was like being in the middle of a firework display. None of it hit me though, which was very nice. Also got around 45fps in the middle of it all (sliders on 53355), even nicer. I was getting a slide-show on 54455.
  23. Kill board

T'was a little field in the heart of Kent, with the home-educator families from Kent and Sussex. Seven days of sweltering heat, compost-toilets and a home-made shower. This was our fourth year, which mainly indicates how truly mental I must be.
  24. Kill board

I is back from camping, innit.
