I have a pair, along with the old TQS throttle and stick (un-chipped unfortunately). The centre-spring has a tendency to snap eventually, and the pot will go too but sometimes savable with a good clean. TM replaced both the spring and pot for free some ten years after I'd bought the kit, through a French subsidiary company if I recall correctly. I got the pot working well again by dismantling and cleaning it, so still have the brandnew one somewhere. Very good kit but I'd have no idea how to get it all working again, I have the new Saitek pedals now.

Get an E-series Intel CPU on a good over-clockable mobo, and at least an 8800GTX graphics card and also 2gb of RAM. My OFF flys with that real sweet, at very high detail settings. The newer 2-series graphics cards are cheaper now (I believe the Nvidia 260 is sub £150 now, cheaper if you're a Yank and buying in dollars) and is far more powerful than an 8800. My E8400 is clocked to 4gb and has been running at that for a good few months now, on air cooling. :)

But you've had the game for months more than somebody who buys it now. Personally I'm kind of proud (if that's the right word) to be one of the first.

Hardcore for me. I can take a few hits without losing the entire plot and I have to work for kills. From all I've read the hardcore feels very realistic in terms of putting planes down, if not in terms of them coming apart as they go (could still do with more of that).

The incredible irony is that ViKs, one of ROF's main developers, was one of the worst online cheats in the IL2 community, and a member of a russian squad that was full of cheats. They were caught red-handed exploiting the engine-off bug for months, and provided the most insultingly lame excuses, and ViKs was master of the bat-turn bug. They also favoured hitting the screen-print button to purposely lag when somebody was on their tail, and then went on to using the CPU speed-hack to do the same. The most recent suspicion is that they'd cracked the IL2 code years before it was first known to have been done and 'tweaked' their planes. I lost count of how many times I personally witnessed the most outrageous examples of impossible maneouvering, and I was far from alone. I feel entirely safe in predicting that ViK's russian squad will be suprisingly awsome with ROF online. It certainly won't be getting a penny of my money.

I stop in a couple of times a day and have a read. The DiD killboard is still running. Currently my pilot is back in blighty, training sprogs.

The chap who fell/bailed out of the Lanc came down through trees as well, before landing in the drift. Lucky bugger. -

What are they talking about, "without opening his parachute"? He very clearly did open his parachute and it fully deployed, just not in time to bring his speed down by the normal amount. If it hadn't opened he'd be dead. -
No knicker-twisting here, they're a good bunch of chaps and I already have my hands full elsewhere with the contentious stuff.

Zur! You old bugger you! How long's it been buddy? God, nice to see you're still around mate. Sounds like you took off real good too. I've been floating around a bit since IL2 but nothing really grabbed. Got into SH3 for a while and ran DiD on it, but they patched and modded it so frequently I just couldn't keep up. Since then not a lot until OFF came out. Hey...OFF...come on, you know you want to...

Here's where you'll find the report-form: http://www.hetzer.talktalk.net/reports.html NB: You don't need to update his progress after each and every mission, but you do need to be reasonably regular about it.

Do you want this chap on the killboard sir? Before he dies this time.

I saw the name in the online-list at the bottom of the main page and wondered if it was the Zurawski the IL2 crowd knew a few years ago.

Latest Nvidia XP Graphics driver V185.85
Siggi replied to Cameljockey's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I've heard these drivers have something called 'Ambient Occlusion', which slaughter FPS for no visible advantage (may or may not activate automatically with a given game, may be the game has to support it). If your game/drivers are working good don't mess with new drivers is my advice. -
Profanity has legitimacy in the right context. I've used it plenty of times on Youtube, to coat off somebody or something that was worthy of the passion. Take Jacqui Smith for example, you wouldn't go up to her and say "I say old girl, you're a bit of a rotter, aren't you!" You'd go "Hey, slag, you tax-money-whoring parasite )^*)&()"" *)(&(_)(_)*(!!!" Then you'd punch her in the face and go "How was that for ya, you &^(&^&(^ (&^&(*( &^*)*_(*()!!!" Sometimes you just have to vent, and profanity makes the nut very nicely.

It's called freedom of expression. How about if you wanted to post a nice comment, to make a vid contributor feel good about something worthy?

Pedals here. Started with the old Thrustmaster jobbies (still have them), now on the new Saitek, and I wouldn't sim without them. Twist-stick just doesn't cut it.

I think it's for adjusting slats on the radiator.

WINNER OF SKINNING CONTEST ANNOUNCEMENT!
Siggi replied to MK2's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Am I the only one wondering where the elevators are? Apart from that it is a truly superb skin. Congratulations old chap. -
Preamble...can't be arsed... You chaps should buy in a bunch of copies of CFS3 (I got one for my brother last night, £2.99 plus £1.94 postage from Amazon). Bundle it with OFF, add £20 to the price to cover OFF, convert that to dollars (£23 = $33), round it up to $35, plus postage, that's a deal. Ditch the distributor, god knows why you went with one in the first place. You should have been burning your own copies and posting them yourselves. But you weren't in it for the money, that's clear to anyone. So you haven't sold thousands. Oh well. What you have done is slough off all the free-loaders, the casual downloaders (P1 and P2), and established who the serious people are (us for starters). Those who were prepared to part with cash, not only to get something they seriously wanted but wanted to put their money where their appreciation is. I think that's called art. You chaps haven't made a game or a mod or a sim exactly, you've made an experience. Experiences don't sell to gamers, they sell to a very specialised niche market. People who are usually of a higher intelligence than the average punter ("Duh, no zombies, screw that!"). So think of P3 as art. You painted an original and are now selling prints to the discerning cogniscenti. If I was one of the team I'd be very well pleased. It's a masterpiece, and recognized as such by those who have the wit to tell the difference. Well, that's my blathering done, fueled I have to admit by a quantity of Asahi Super Dry (the finest beer ever crafted by the hand of man). BH&H rocks. It's the dog's bollocks. I've not had as much fun from a computer game since RB2-3D. Thanks chaps, for your passion, enthusiasm, talent and integrity.

...which is the first medal awarded for the French pilots? TIA.

MM is quite picky about music formats. MP3s seem to work very well. Could be the piece you were trying to add is corrupted too.
