  1. That came out a good few months ago and is totally fake. If you look at stills where you can see the broken wing-root you can see it's badly mis-placed. Not to mention the actual movements of the plane as it both falls and lands.
  2. Wings of Prey half price on Steam

What a steaming pile of s**te. You can't fly axis planes offline (so good luck getting the hang of them before you go online with them), the missions terminate whether you're ready to quit or not, there are tags all over the screen and the MP crashed almost immediately (I'm patched to the latest version). And all this is in simulator-mode. A complete waste of £15. But at least it was only £15. Avoid. NB: I assumed "Realistic" was "Simulator" but apparently that's not the case, as I still see tags all over the screen in "Realistic" mode and Dimus informs me the tags go away in "Simulator" mode.
  3. Hi Tamper. Yep, I have a few thoughts. I looked into SSDs during the short time I was into ArmA2 and trying to get that snake-pit of botched code running at a satisfactory speed, but the bang-for-buck ratio didn't appeal. I currently have three SATA drives, OS running from one, games from another and the Pagefile from the third. As I understand it everything a game like OFF needs is pulled from the drive and put into both video-RAM and system-RAM. I have 2gb of S-RAM and 1gb of V-RAM. Seemes that used to be enough for stutter and triangle-free play, which is why I blame the current drivers for my woes. And since getting FRAPS to store it's output to the E drive (where the pagefile is as it happens) I can now get good performance while filming in another game I play (Darkest Hour, haven't tried with OFF yet), so the three-drive spread improved that particulasr problem I was having. I have defrag running on auto, does it's thing every night. I guess I have my system running about as well as it can, dodgy video drivers excepted. My S-RAM is now at 1069 (lifetime gauranteed, so I thought "screw it, why not...").
  4. For the Devs/OBD team

The beauty of OFF is it's been made highly configurable. The problem is that even on it's hardest setting it's now become too easy for the most experienced players.
  5. For the Devs/OBD team

Something I'd like to see is lone recon flights, they're totally absent from OFF. I'd also have said I'd like a more challenging AI, but maybe it's us who have become too good? Look at Airshark's 90+ kills with less than 40 combat-hours flown. That's what's kind of killing OFF for me at the moment, the sense of achievement just isn't in it any more and the top medals have acquired jamboree-bag status. I'm not sure what a solution to that might be...making the AI's DM incredibly robust (because I seriously doubt anymore can be got from CFS's AI flying ability) or making 90% of the player's rounds dud?
  6. Looks nice enough, but eye-candy alone is very yawn. Does it have a dynamic campaign worthy of the name? And if it does, is it better than OFF's?
  7. When a plane is burning and leaving that trail of black smoke it also generates puffs of a reddish coloured smoke at the engine that are way too big and look bloody awful. Can somebody tell me where I can find the image-file for it, I'd like to either make it smaller and change it's colour to black or make it transparent if it's size can't be changed. TIA. :)
  8. Can I modify this?

It doesn't look like a flame, those are quite distinctive. It's a weird kind of orangey glow that puffs once a second or so and has a diameter that reaches at least half way out along the wings. It just looks very odd to me, not at all realistic, and considering the good quality of the other effects it's detrimental. I'll try to get a pic of it, or a vid would be better.
  9. Nuts, the OS tried to automatically reinstall the drivers after I rebooted and I couldn't stop it. So I ran Driver Sweeper at the same time just to be bloody minded, but that didn't do anything but vanish all the older drivers in the folder VP pointed out. Anyway, I did a clean reinstall of the same drivers, no difference to the triangles. At least I know what the old drivers were called now, I'll get around to hunting them down on the net at some point. Why does every driver update from NVidia have to be a game of russian bloody roulette? They break things as often as they improve them. Farking morons.
  10. You clever bugger, you're right. Ha! Cheers Paulus.
  11. Claim forms

  12. I'm embarrassed to admit I don't recall the earlier ones, or I'd have done it already.
  13. Bollocks, they're the ones I'm using. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to live with the triangles.
  14. I'm pretty sure it's down to these drivers Lou. Defrag runs automatically every night and I've not had this OS long enough, or loaded enough programs, to screw the registry. What driver version are you running? I'll go back to that.
  15. My sliders are at 5 for everything bar the terrain, which is at 4. I've had triangle-free performance at those settings before. My specs: Asus Maximus Formula mobo. E8400 Intel CPU at 4ghz. Corsair Dominator 1066 RAM at 891. GTX 285 Graphics. Fatality Gamer sound.
  16. Nope, not a whit of difference.
  17. Hmm. My RAM was already at 891, I've bumped it to 1069. Thing is I've not always had the blue triangles, it seems to come and go with various drivers. I think these most recent drivers are crap. Anyway, I'll give OFF another whirl. I suspect there'll be no difference. But my RAM might pop.
  18. Thanks Lou, I'll dial those in.
  19. My overrides are default, apart from in-game functions disabled (TAC etc). I don't have a clue what any of the others do, so I leave them alone. My RAM must be in the same ball-park as yours so far as speed is concerned. I'll go into the BIOS and double-check it though, I have a vague memory I might have set it to auto.
  20. My system is OC'd pretty good, and I have the RAM (Corsair Dominator) synced to the CPU. Off the top of my head I think my RAM is 1066 stuff, running at 800 and something, 2.2v. I'd have thought the graphic-card's gig of RAM should be doing away with the jaggies.
  21. I tried buggering about with this a fair bit last night and this morning, turned out it wasn't having the slightest effect in the game. Went back into the regular NV CP and set stuff up in there and bingo, nice smooth image again. Is one supposed to SAVE the profile in Nhancer? If so, where? I've looked and can find no save function. Or is Nhancer supposed to be left open while playing the game (I've been closing it)? Not that it really matters for me, in testing I'm getting 60fps almost all of the time with no jaggies or shimmering. The ONLY issue I have right now is those bloody blue triangles when I pan too fast, though they do settle down a bit once I've scanned in all directions. I'm on the latest drivers, did an auto-update via W7.
  22. HOLY COW!..watch this!

Far out. Really kicks the distorted perception of B&W in the teeth.
  23. Medals in OFF

    When's P4 due out?
  24. Medals in OFF

I believe the allies had parachutes ordered and stocked at least a year before the end of the war but never issued them.
  25. Bloody hell. Even individual numbers on the tails.
