Possible to tune down the torque?
OlPaint01 replied to Stratos's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Stratos I learned a trick from an old master (probably Tailspin... ). For high torqued rotary engined a/c, you need to get your tail up off the ground as fast as possible with a little down elevator so you can get your air speed up at start of the takeoff roll. Give it lots of left aileron to keep the right wing tip off the ground. If the wing tip touches the ground, the a/c explodes in a ball of flames - not a good thing. Control your direction down the runway with the rudder peddles. Once you get past stall speed, give it a little up elevator and off you go... Until I got my coordination of all these elements down pat, I crashed and burned quite a lot. Of course, autopilot solves a lot of takeoff issues, particularly getting airbourne. LOL OlPaint01 -
Stock terrains update and new effects pack
OlPaint01 replied to Stary's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
Hey Stary Do you see me drueling...I can't hardly wait. The landscape is going to be marvelous!!! OlPaint01 -
I installed TrackIRv5BFinal over my old version 4 also. The installer makes a new folder in the Natural Point directory in Program Files. As far as I can tell version 4 does not conflict with the new software. I definately noticed a marked improvement with smoother head movements with Version 5 - not at all jumpy like I experienced with Version 4. I am using my old camera and old TrackClipPro. The new Version 5B Final release recognizes my TrackIR 4 hardware at launch time so I may not have to upgrade my hardware. I have an inquiry with Natural Point if they plan to offer a deal to upgrade old hardware to the new. OlPaint01

HPWFB Damage Model Variety Pack Now Available!
OlPaint01 replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Panama Red I am still puzzled how to set up the Generic Mod Enabler for OFF. Does the utility install in the OBD software folder or the CFSWW1 Over Flanders Fields folder. I quess I need a 'Drive by' for someone to give me instructions how to setup where the /MOD folder is put and how the folder containing the actual mod files are cofigured. OlPaint01 -

Mission and Flight Time no Recorded
OlPaint01 replied to Condor44's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hello Condor and Homeboy I don't think there is any reason to keep CTRL + Q in the key command list. Maybe to force everyone not to use that command to exit the program, we could delete that key press combination in the Quick Combat Key Stroke programing screen. Eventually our keyboard finger memory would finally use ESC to close out of a sortie. OlPaint01 -
F5 view the panel , overlapping gauges?
OlPaint01 replied to Emile's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hello Emile This is an easy one to answer. F5 toggles the HUD gauges on and off. The gauges can be placed anywhere on the screen with a left-mouse drag and drop. There are five instruments available to view in each gauge graphic. Crtl + Shft + 1 keypress will cycle the five available instruments thru Gauge 1 graphic. Ctrl + Shft + 2 keypress will cycle for Gauge 2, and so forth. Press the keypress combination enough times and eventually the individual gauge graphic will be hidden. Easy Peasy! Come to think about it, all the HUD display features, even the a/c status text window, can be moved around the screen with a mouse drag and drop. You could even drag the a/c status text window off the screen entirely if you want. I learned all this from Uncleal...It pays to listen to your elders!!! OlPaint01 -
HPWFB Damage Model Variety Pack Now Available!
OlPaint01 replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hello PR I have been trying to figure out how to use the JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler in FE as well as OFF. Could you point me to a tutorial...Where do the various files go? Does the Mod Enabler install into the main game folder or in the specific folder where the mod installs. Inquring minds what to know... Hello Herr P-W I am absolutely bowled over with the damage that I am seeing now. I installed DMVP over version 1.32d with no problems. Outstanding Views is all I can say. I may never go back to WM's default DM. Please keep tweaking the DMVP mod for us. We all tip our hats to you and FourtiesBoy for your combined efforts. OlPaint01 -
HPWFB Damage Model Variety Pack Now Available!
OlPaint01 replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Herr P-W I get your drift... I need to construct a "backup" AIRCRAFT folder with all the directories for each aircraft that will hold just the .xdp file specific to each aircraft in each folder of WM's default DM. Then I install your DMVP mod and followed by a delete of all the .bdp files in each specific aircraft folder. OFF will reconstruct all the .bdp files over again at launch. I then test your DMVP to my heart's content. To recover WM's DM, I copy my "backup" AIRCRAFT folder back into OFF and answer YES to Overwrite files. Then I delete all the .bdp files and let OFF reconstruct the .bdp files at relaunch. Correct? OlPaint01 -
HPWFB Damage Model Variety Pack Now Available!
OlPaint01 replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Hello Herr P-W I am eager to test your DMVP on my 1.32c install. I have carefully read the HPWFBReadMe. I failed to find instructions how to return to the Stock DM if I discover that I do not want to continue using your alternate DM. We all know that WM has eliminated the Normal and Hard DM mods when he published Version 1.32 patch. OlPaint01 -
Hey everyone I think we can be civil here...We do not need to start a flamewar. I own and fly all three sims - FE, OFF and RoF. And I enjoy every minute in each one. All are my favorites, each admittedly have their own little quirks. I can take up my kite and shoot down EA any time I have a mind to. I am so glad to be a member of the WWI Flight Sim Community. We all indeed have an obilgation to make constructive comments about what we would like to be included or changed, but there is no need to blast each other. That's all I have to say about that... IMHO, since OFF is depicting historical presidence, I favor OOB as the guiding principle. OlPaint01

Hey all, I understand that PD has quit building Phase3 OFF MP missions for The Boys of 60 Squadron. He is concentrating on the IL2 Sim for cooperative multi-player gaming. I have recently joined PD and the Boys flying cooperative missions. PD has a lot of knowledge, considering the many Phase2 OFF MP missions he built for Boys of 60 that are available for download at SOH download library. His last effort IIRC has six missions bundled for Phase3 which can be found in the Off Missions Down Page. It would be great to learn the master's tricks. OlPaint01

Hey Carrick58 I had a very similar experience when installing 1.32 over my 1.31L. I finally bit the bullet and did a complete uninstall of OFF and did a fresh install. It gave me a opportunity to optimize the install with all the Tips and Cheats from the new Knowledge Base. The Sim is running great. This time I am building my own KB with all the little mods I have found on the Forum to customize my HUD and Joystick assignments. OlPaint01

I think WM said they go into the Missions>Scenerios>(specific Nation Folder) OlPaint01

Hello Panama Red I have loaded your latest _data.ini V2 for the DH-4 (250). I have setup a bombing mission with a takeoff from runway. Almost half of my flight mates explodes during the takeoff roll. I have watched this occur several times. While watching from external view I have noticed that the a/c wheels are imbedded into the ground at start of roll. The aircraft bounce quite a bit. Just before the flight takes to the air, several a/c take a hard bounce and explode. The ones that don't descintegrate in flames lose power and stop on the grass and just burn. My a/c sometimes explodes as well. Is this supposed to happen? OlPaint01

Thanks WM. You know what they say - Anticipation is making me wait! I appreciate all the patches you Devs publish. Every one makes the sim so much better. But I am so looking forward to navigating by rail. OlPaint01
