    I tried many things, but this finally worked for me. Be sure to add the the [TargetTypes056-067] from the Flanders_Types.ini to your Vogesen (or whatever)_Types.ini. I renumbered them, but it may not be necessary. May go back and see if any other [TargetTypes] from Flanders may be useful in Vogesen.

    Trying to do this for the Vogesen terrain. Question: Do the static planes need to be in the Aircraft folder? I would not think so, but since I cannot see the planes on the fields want to eliminate this as a possibility.
  4. I must have done something wrong. I applied the bmp to Vogesen with the re-orientation and additional hangers and ended up with no discernable fields. Did not try all of my fields, so I do not know if this is an isolated instance or not. I can see my hangers and tents, but they appear to be sitting in farmed fields. Any suggestions? I want your look. Thanks. Interestingly, replaced the bmp and still have the same effect. Curious.

    Yes, but the cockpit view always comes back when switching between views. I do not want to see it at all. Would like the toggle in CFS or bitmap change in RB3D. Presonal preference, too bad it will not carry over into online play.

    F1 view still shows cockpit in the FokkerD8. Just noticed that I forgot to rem out the ModeName. Will try that.

    Thanks, I think. Is there a 'sure fire' way to know what this parent node is? Current node seems to be "cockpit". Will be changing it shortly in the D8 to see what happens. Again, thanks.

    Aladar; When you find the best solution, let me know. I am looking for any easy way to accomplish a 'full time' invisible cockpit. Right now I have to set all items ShowFromCockpit=false. There are about six of them, so there may be a better way. Let me know what you find out. I like the idea of the 3D model, but have no clue how best to do it. Good luck.

  11. Not sure whether this is an FE problem or a Capun issue. The Dolphin and Bristol F2B start out agressive enough in coop play, but soon loose their anger and fighting skill. After the initial furball, they become 'sitting ducks' or 'galloping gertas' running away from the action. My question, is there a time variable setting to AI agression/skill? If so, where might I find it and either extend it or disable it. Thanks.
  12. July 4th Online fun!

    The bottom line is FE mmp is not ready for prime time. To mix the metaphor, we are still an off-broadway production. The people we really need now have a higher tolerance for frustration, a willingness to be guinea pigs. Guinea pigs that want to have fun. With lothar onboard, we will soon have simple installs (batch files). With input from Peter01 and others we will have compatable flight and damage models. The invitation to the Open Skies is for all, but really directed at the 'early adopters'. FE mmp is too difficult for the casual player and we have to change that. We will change that. It will happen sooner with more help, but it will happen. When it does, we will have a game that takes RB3d into the 21st Century, at least that is my goal.
  13. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. Of course, I would try to form a counter-squadron - Jasta 18. Think of it as symbiosis. Will you be making this same post at Third Wire? I may have missed it.

    This is a problem for which I have no solution. FE does not seem to attract the online player. Make sure you have Teamspeak and use the SimHQ server, just in case we ever close the timezone gap. IP is 64.72.121.17:8767 with pw of SiimHQ-talk. Try it and we may run into each other over the weekend.

    Salamat; In response to Question 3, just make a copy of the WW1.exe file and rename it Flightsim.exe and then point HyperLobby to the new file. Too bad you are in PI, time zones preclude us from every meeting online. The support of MMP is limited, but this is still an improvement over RB3D and worth the effort to get it configured properly.
  16. Sorry FE

    I just discovered FE about 4 months ago and had a difficult time adjusting to the views. I now fly nothing else. I have abandoned RB3D with some regret. It has a great on-line community that FE does not, but I tired of driving my Model T in the right hand lane - system upgrades usually imparted no improvement or forced reversion to old drivers (nVidia). RB3D, especially with the DM's Cold War enhancements (the D7F flew like a D7F), was almost pure joy, but it was showing its age. While the problem with glide wrappers was surmountable, it was indicative of the problem. Is was a game that had progressed as far as it was going to. FE has several problems that I feel will be addressed. It is too bad that it did not meet your needs, but to each his own. BTW, if you have not tried the Cold War patches, I recommend that you do, especially CW4.1 (may be 4.2 by now). In any event, have fun. Should you decide to give FE another chance and wish to fly on-line, give me a shout.

    I am usually on HyperLobby Strike Fighters at 1900 and would be happy to help you with setup. Please use the CombatACE teamspeak server to facilitate communication - 64.119.37.62:8769 log in anonymous and no password. Multiplay is a bit more difficult to configure here than I would like, but it is not daunting. Let me know via email if you have any problems. I think you will really like this game.

    We (mrcraig, red hammer, uriah, and I) have come to pretty much the same conclusion. We thought if we could find someone to provide 24/7 server hosting with ftp download, we could come up with the 'standard' loadout(s). We had two volunteers, but never quite made it happen. Are you willing to help with this effort - maybe selecting the loadouts, etc.?
  20. Favorite Kites....

    There is only one 'good' plane and that is the Jasta 18 Fokker D7F. My sympathy for those of you who fly inferior aircraft. I have 'hardened' it (and all Allied opponents) by increasing the wood thickness, but it is essentially a patch 2 stock with some minor paint changes. Feel free to check it out on multiplay - all except mrcraig and his N28 (too damn good).
  21. Any suggestions on the technique to change the player plane icon on the map in Co-op play? Any ideas where I might look? Would lke to quickly identify my position on the map during Co-op play when there are several planes showing. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
  22. Same problem. If someone has the Java workaround, would appreciate the 'heads-up'. It says I do not have proper access, and yet I am logged in as Administrator - go figure. I generally opt for Flash, it is less trouble. I thought MS and Sun worked this out. Like to idea of a chat room, so will try to work the problem, but may need some help.
  23. FE online Squad

    Might I suggest using the SimHQ Teamspeak Server for a ready room, or any other voice chat (Yahoo, Google, etc) that has a 24/7 server? I use SimHQ (208.67.248.204:8767 - Logon anon, forgot pw) and Widowmakers (85.24.27.152:8769 - Logon anon with no pw). Each has its own First Eagles channel, it is at the bottom of Widow's. We have had good luck with CheckSix and on occasion Himachi - seems to minimize lag.
  24. Need some guidance. I found the Spad13_ironsight.tga file, but the graphic seems to be only a grey/black square. It is easy enough to change the color, but then the sight becomes a colored square instead of the reticle. I added some red concentric circles to the grey square, but then I just got the old grey reticle back. This is for the FE Fokker D7F of course. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
  25. Changing gunsight color

    Bruno had a great idea. In this old version of Paint Shop Pro I could not see the cross hairs of the gunsight. With GIMP they were apparent and changable. There is a bit of a learning curve, since the is very little correspondence between the drop down menues, but if you are having any problems, check out GIMP. It is free and functional. I now have a yellow iron sight. When I figure out how to make it neon, I will. Thanks Bruno, great tip. I should have used it earlier. I have attached the file TEST.tga, if you want to use it rename it to SPAD13_Ironsight.tga and put in your Objects folder. Sorry, I cannot upload the file.
