SF2 Series Range
JSF_Aggie replied to JSF_Aggie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Unless you edit QF-100D_DATA.INI, it's only available between 1970-1990. For parked aircraft, increase OPTIONS->GRAPHICS->GROUND OBJECTS For airborn aircaft, increase SINGLE MISSION->CREATE MISSION->ENEMY AIR ACTIVITY -
Mission editor preview - ground targets and movement
JSF_Aggie replied to DanW's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Man, I'm getting so impatient. Looks awesome. Spectre_USA, not an ideal solution, but for ODS I decreased the mission range specified in the AV-8B's _data.ini, to keep them from being tasked with going all the way to Baghdad for example. Not a one-size-fits-all solution, but will work in certain situations. At least in SF1, the campaign engine looked at this value when assigning who went where. Sorry for the hijack. -
Problems with Logitech g940
JSF_Aggie replied to PvtDK's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
Works fine for me also. In your options.ini, there's a force feedback section with a few variables. One is an enable/disable, check it to make sure it was not some how set to 0 (off). -
Expansion pack 2 mission editor teaser 2
JSF_Aggie replied to DanW's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Maybe two sub-sections in the mission dowload area, one for stock-install missions, and one that requires 3rd-party mods? It would help if the end-users would rate missions after they download and fly them, either with the current rating system, or in the support topic thread. -

I can do that Dave. I have .psd's from my original skins, plus Ant has hooked me up with SF2 templates. -
Modder Challenge: towed gunnery banner
JSF_Aggie replied to streakeagle's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
The existing gunnery targets on the range have always had a damage model/texture. They currently use the same model for "DamagedModel" & "DestroyedModel", but with a little paint and .lod editing, we could have two different damage models. -
Help!
JSF_Aggie replied to craaig's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Did you read the README included in the ODS downloads? List each file you downloaded. Did you make a clean install of WOE? Did you patch WOE, and if so, what patch did you use? Describe how you installed ODS, list each step. There is not suppose to be any ODS icons automatically created for you. -

Microsoft sold all the source code of FSX and ESP to Lockheed Martin STS in Orlando, so I assume that means they are starting from scratch.

SF2 Series Range
JSF_Aggie replied to JSF_Aggie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Two guesses... Does the AFX's _data.ini have "MinBaseSize=LARGE"? If so, change it to MEDIUM. The only runway is Runway6, of TargetType=MEDIUM_RUNWAY. Are you trying to fly later than 2010? Range.INI has an EndDate of 1/1/2010. If neither of those fix it, I'll install it and see if I can find the problem. -
Strange lines on the horizon in SF2 Series Range terrains?
JSF_Aggie replied to AGOSTINO's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Those lines did start showing up after I added the _hm.bmp's to most of the tiles. It's not a line between tiles that have and tiles that do not have _hm.bmp's though. For that terrain, all tiles have them accept the specialty tiles around the airbase and the range. I assumed that the effect of the _hm.bmp's is only drawn so far out, and what you're seeing is the "seem" between where it is, and were it is not used to draw the terrain. You can get rid of it by removing all the "HeightMap=range*_hm.BMP" lines from the range_data.ini file. This will give you the mostly flat terrain. You could also try decreasing the "HeightMapScale" value. It will make the terrain features smaller, but maybe there's a good compromise. -
SF2 Series Range
JSF_Aggie replied to JSF_Aggie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
In Range.INI, there is the following: [AllowedDates] StartDate=1/1/1950 EndDate=1/1/2010 I just flew six missions with F-100's, A-4's, and F-8's, all in the '50's, with no problems. However, I have it in a merged install will all titles. -

JSF_Aggie replied to JSF_Aggie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
I've updated the download to remove the SAMRadars, or you can just grab the Range_targets.ini from this post, and place it in your /Terrains/Range folder. EricJ, I'm not forcing this on you or anyone. Range_targets.rar -
Man, I thought this post was going to be about the University of Texas. :)

Transparent Highway Airstrip Objects
JSF_Aggie replied to Helmut_AUT's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - General Discussion
Helmut, I think that is just the way it is. It doesn't have anything to do with adding the highway airstrip. Distant .tga's are rendered on top of near .tga's, you just don't see it at 20k feet. Stary may know if there's a way to get them to render in the correct order. -
Updating the Bombing Range
JSF_Aggie posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - Mods & Skinning Discussion
I've been spoiled by Stary's hi-res tile sets, so I've updated the range for SF2, and started repainting the tiles at 1024x1024. I just have a couple transition tiles to paint, and place some more targets to bomb. I was also going to play around with the terrain's limited nations and try and set it up such that only the drones show up here. -
SF2 Series Range
JSF_Aggie replied to JSF_Aggie's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 2 Series - File Announcements
Kev, I added 3 SAMRadar's to parts of the range, but they never showed up for me. The hope was just to get a few more spikes on the RWR. I didn't add any SAMLauncher's, but I also didn't look to see if they were some already existing. I don't have any 3rd party SAMs in my install. Maybe some of the mobile guys are "SAMRadar's" with missiles? If anyone else is seeing this, they can open up the range_targets.ini and change all the SAMLauncher's and/or SAMRadar's to another type. The desert, mountain, and farm tiles have _hm.bmp's now. All of the range specific tiles are still flat, so there should still be pleanty of flat ground to add your additional targets, we just may have to move their locations (or get rid of the _hm.bmp's in range_data.ini) -

******************************************************************************* ********* Bombing Range For SF2 ******** ******************************************************************************* This is an update to the original bombing range to make it compatible with the SF2 series, and take advantage of some of the new features now available. It also has terrain tiles redrawn at 1024x1024. A QF-100D drone is included in this download. You'll see these flying around the range, and parked at the simulated airfield. All weapons have been removed, so they won't shoot at you. Only hostile aircraft with a "NationName=RANGE" will show up on this terrain. A modified version of the NATIONS.INI file has been included. It is the stock file with the "RANGE" nation added. You need the "RANGE" nation defined if you want the QF-100D's showing up. Provided your other terrains have their "LimitedNations" setup, you won't see the QF-100's anywhere except the Range. A quick note, for the most part, this is still the original target layout. Wrench and others have created target laydowns with a much wider array of targets. These changes can be easily merged with this update. Feel free to further modify this, but don't sell it, and please include the credit list below. ******************************************************************************* ********* Installation ******** ******************************************************************************* Copy the contents SF2_Range.rar into your SF2 mods folder.
