Thanks. You may want to watch making them to fancy. I turned my EFFECTS down to MEDIUM, because the B-52's flattening an airfield with 51 M117's a piece, killed my frame rate for a short time. Crashed my GFX drivers once, when EFFECTS were on HIGH.

Desert Storm Mod Update For Jan 2009
JSF_Aggie replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Thanks. There will be updates for bug fixes. There will also be updates to add new content, and to improve existing content. Some countries and/or squadrons are missing, some aircraft are missing, etc.... Some of this was due to time constraints, and some because we're just waiting for the 3d model or skin to be completed. -

Your key settings sound be in /Controls/default.ini. You should be able to copy that file over with no problem at all. Your gamesettings are in the options.ini file at the top level. However, if you copy your options.ini file directly over, you'll break Instant Action and Multiplayer. This will probably result in a CTD if you try to do either. -

Keep in mind we're limited to what we can do as far as the campaign engine. We don't have source code. I can specify A target area to be focused on for the entire force, but I can't keep certain squadrons from being assigned certain target areas/cities. You may want to try tweaking the NormalMissionRadius and MaxMissionRadius in the AV-8B's data file. If you make it small enough, it may keep the game engine from sending you up to Bagdad. You can change what mission types you're assigned in the DesertStorm_Data.ini campaign file, per squadron: MissionChance[sWEEP]=0 MissionChance[CAP]=0 MissionChance[iNTERCEPT]=0 MissionChance[ESCORT]=0 MissionChance=50 MissionChance[CAS]=90 MissionChance[sEAD]=40 <<<<<<<<<<<Set this to something smaller MissionChance[ARMED_RECON]=50 MissionChance[ANTI_SHIP]=0 MissionChance[RECON]=20 -
Desert Storm Mod Update For Jan 2009
JSF_Aggie replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
In addition to what comrpnt said, I'll look at moving the front line to get those target areas he added onto the Coalition side of the FEBA. That way the game engine won't turn them RED. -

Crusader has done avionics upgrades to almost every flyable aircraft. Some minor, some major, and everything in between. -
This doesn't last very long. After the first 6-7 campaign missions, there isn't much of an enemy air threat. Watch out for the SAMS though.

Desert Storm Mod Update For Jan 2009
JSF_Aggie replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
comrpnt added many target areas to the terrain, specifically for single missions. If one is "behind enemy lines" as far as the campaign is concerned, they will be RED. Can you post a screenshot? The USMC units that actually fight the ground war, that don't show up until 02/24, are not behind enemy lines. Are you talking about static tanks, that are just part of a target area? -

Desert Storm Mod Update For Jan 2009
JSF_Aggie replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
As Dave said, I'm uploading it now. The installer program actually compressed better than WinRar. I started with three sets of files each 1.1 gig, and ended up with: ODS_part1 212MB ODS_part2 82MB ODS_part3 124MB It's still going to take 2-3 hours to upload, assuming the connection doesn't die. The files shouldn't be available until I have all three uploaded. Please read the README before you install. It's short, and well worth reading. -

My Thoughts
JSF_Aggie replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Dave is getting very emotional in his old age. -
Well, my co-worker emailed the two MS Flight Sim contacts we had, a tech-support guy and the lead for ESP. We got out-of-office replies from both, stating if we had any ESP questions to check with another guy, which we've never heard of before, and they also left their personal emails if we had any "non-microsoft" questions. We've had no reply from the other guy, as of yet.
-
We've started using ESP, an industrial version of MSX, as a visual scene at work. It was so much cheaper than any of the other 3rd Party visual scenes. A lot of other companies had started to go the same route for their high-end simulations.

I don't know where Texas A&M ranks specifically for Aero Engineering, but their engineering college as a whole is always ranked top 15 or less, at least they were 7 years ago when I went there. They have the Corp Of Cadets, which is military 24/7 while you go to school there. Not everyone in the Corp is ROTC, but many are. I've been told A&M gets the most accepted into flight school, behind the Academies. I was Computer Engineering there, but not in the Corp. If nothing else, you get the best seats at the football games.

Your Favorite Third Wire Sim and Why?
JSF_Aggie replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
WOV, mainly because it's what I read about the most as a kid, and I just love the time frame as far as airframes go. WOE is a close 2nd. Does Desert Storm count Dave? -
Welcome home. Thank you.

No, that's just a screenshot from the very begining of INSTANT ACTION. The tanker flys with you for a little, then turns and orbits south of the border. I was bored. :) -

Viggen, Even if they were, it's not an issue. See the entry below? It's from the FLIGHTENGINE.INI. If you set OBJECT TEXTURE = HIGH, it's like making every skin 512x512. You could change MaxTextureRes=1024 if you wanted to make everything no larger than 1024x1024. [HighDetailOption] HorizonDistance=60000.0 DetailMeshSize=5 DetailLevel=1 WaterEffect=2 NoiseTexture=1 MaxTextureRes=512 -

JSF_Aggie replied to Dave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
Allied aircraft are all 1024x1024 Iraqi aircraft are all 512x512 Ground objects are all 256x256 Terrain tiles are 512x512 ******************************** A seperate, optional download will have high rez skins for the aircraft you choose to install them for. Turning your graphics Object Texture and Terrain Texture options down, causes them to be rendered smaller than what's listed above. -
