Got this evening for a review due on Wednesday Surprisingly, StarForce wasn't annoying at all. Game tuns fine and is not ugly on minimum-requirements-PC. Sat through mission introducing the BS itself, pit instruments, comms. Then watched engine startup... Every time I try to control it something bad happens. I think the controller and TIR needs a bit of readjustment in options - can't reduce blade pitch to 0. And I need some time to get used to the FM which seems pretty realistic. Can't say more yet.

Wish I could find more of Bremner, Bird and Fortune... Do they DVDise them?

Yeah... ain't she a beauty http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VSS_Vintorez Subsonic tungsten AP round FTW BTW, I remember FN P90 was designed as a sort of compact crew weapon. Are they used in that function on a large scale anywhere?

Left one - maybe, right the one packs much more punch

Gosh, they turn even firearms into LEGO

Lemme guess... You're running Vista? http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?showtopic=26451 Note that the latest versions of WoV, WoE and WoI are Vista-capable. It's just SF and FE that are down on their luck so far but updates for them may come later.

I had a boxful (later a sackful) of parts from different LEGO kits which I mixed together and used for building tons of stuff. Favourite trick was looking through their teaser catalogues and making basically the same stuff out of the parts I had.

Vipers are soooo nice. Slow acting, painful poison that leaves crippled for life rather than kills; live anywhere from deserts to Arctic circle in Greenland; foldable syringe fangs; infra-red vision for pit vipers; never attack people unless provoked by silly ones. And look at those beautiful eyes!

...that this year is sort of a 60th anniversary of electronic music, sampling techniques etc Étude aux chemins de fer by Pierre Schaeffer - first piece of sampled music dates back to 1948 The man was a pure genius http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Schaeffer
-
And sampling techniques were sort of developed by W.S. Burroughs in the 30's And music from noises was pioneered by Dada Watch it - it's hilarious Still, bringing it all together and finding a way to write music from every scap of unmusical sound is a milestone.

XnView also does a very good job http://pagesperso-orange.fr/pierre.g/xnview/enhome.html Almost the same as ACDSee, only smaller, faster and free. Batch operations e.g. format conversion (like a hundred screenies from BMP to JPG) work nicely too. -

So if you've got tungsten balls no number of Charlies can pose a threat close-range?

Send him to wild parts of Comodo island... if there are any parts untainted by tourism yet. Douglas Adams wrote many of those lizards just lie around waiting to be fed.

I know we have a special subforum but it's kinda dead-ish... What I'm interested in are games that somehow combine the scale and the number of units from strategy games and the ability tinker with the internals of the units. I've tried Flight Commander 2 (thnx, streakeagle! It's awesome!) Achtung, Spitfire! and Over the Reich - pretty much the same as FC2 only in WW2 and prettier. And boring. Great Naval Battles series by SSI - too bad they dumped the campaign thing in all sequels, including the last about WW1. No subs too. Harpoon Classic 97 and Harpoon 3. Buggy, but amazingly immersive. Apart from planes - after FC2 I can't bear seeing F-4 fire 4 Sparrows at 4 targets in 10s and turning back home without tracking. What else worth seeing is there? Really good if it's not naval... I'm getting seasick of seeing oval shapes fighting on blue already

I wrote both a review and a beginner's guide to SoaSE for a game mag, so I can't bear playing it anymore I was thinking more along the lines of "high detail, large scale, adequate realism." Tried Fleet Command... feels like simplified Harpoon. Ran out of ideas... guess I'll stick to FC2.

AFAIK, all speed-controlled things now have more variables telling the game when to deploy and when to retract them. Can't remember the exact change. Check ini files for stock post-patch planes... -
