Now Chuck Noris knows our names...

There's was decently working XP fix for Titanium Trilogy that needs no dosbox (and enables 3d acceleration)... And getting the most out of DOSBox also requires reading its own manual and adjusting config file. Had to learn how to dumb down my joystick for RedBaron, increase memory for Blood, learn complicated mount commands for multi-cd games, increase freespace for some annoying installlers... But it's fun!

Bad luck... since headers of entries are links they can't be coloured. I'll try to mark offline things. OK. Now offline stuff (books and movies) is marked with green. BTW is there any web archive of documentary footage released into public domain?
-
Hmm... I wonder where I shall put them. Rats! I'll have to seperate stuff available online (most of my post) from advice "that's a good book". Maybe some sort of marking or separate section... Any ideas?

Added Dawn Patrol. Well, Blue Max still has excellent and realistic flying. It just feels right, though "pull a lever to fire guns" is quite strange for such late war.

What colour are the cartridges?

Something like that should do http://www.ambx.com/site/about/what No oil though

Bandy, if you use so called glide wrapper such as dgVoodoo you can run RB3D in Glide mode on most modern video cards. It seems, nVidia fits better for RB3D as ATI cards have a number of glitches. Alhough even for them gameplay is pretty stable and the picture is awesome provided you install some of the superpatches. WOW! Got Alb D.II in my Jasta (using WFP). At first pit looked a lot like in D.I. Then as the new year 1917 came, it felt a bitt different - then I realised that they actually modelled the switch from leaky ear radiators to top-wing mounted ones. I wonder if that means that I won't get an oil leak every other dogfight.

Well, BioShock was kinda... lame. Excellent visual style and soundtrack, optimised engine. Yet gameplay is severely dumbed down and most features were basically the same as in System Shock 2 only much simpler. Which is like having LockOn with DM and FM from ye olde Sopwith. Oh, and [censored] copy protection, no way I'm ignoring that. The rest.. Agatha Christie: Evil Under The Sun provided a lot of laughs. Hercule Poirot digging into sand tennis court, rolling boulders, repairing car engine, carrying a raft and some dirty rocks in his pockets - grey cells cannot tolerate such torment.

Progress of Vogesen terrain development

Unlike Buttkicker this thing kicks ass! Still, customisable switchboard could be nice...

That's precisely for the kind of chair I shall never buy again. Wheels and rotation just don't go with pedals. IMHO, for WW1 sims a much more needed thing for immersion is a strong fan/cooler aimed at players face and a can of motor oil to apply to your face before flight. I'd gladly pay for some sort of fan that would change its power based on speed of flight and weather conditions. Just got another idea. A USB hub with tons (un)plugable of switches on wires. One tiny joystick (not for flight), a couple of dials, some toggle switches, a few buttons. Throw in a set of clamps and suckers and a "Design your own pit" kit is ready. Maybe wires aren't even needed with all this bluetooth being able to fit into tiniest things... Oh, and a Deluxe version of the kit can have all switches look like made of brass and wood.

...or in Russia. Well, it's mostly just ripoffs of Western shows. Though I doubt you have something BigBrother-ish lasting for errm.. let me seee.. 3 years and no end date has ever been announced. I'm glad I don't watch TV.

Been flying in RB3D with ReLoad for a while on rotary E.III according to the table with "type3" engine: blip, separate fuel and air intake controls. So it has some sort of throttle, but that is definitely NOT the thing you'll want to even touch in combat. If you move joystick throttle, you have to readjust fuel mixture with +/- otherwise drop in torque might be much more than needed. And altitude changes also require some tweaking. That means that in combat you have to watch the tachometer taming the needle, while keeping in mind altitude changes and the thing you just did to throttle. And there are bad guys about. And earth is getting closer with every turn. Blip seems like a perfect solution when you don't want to worry at least about the engine (set up max power before entering dogfight) and try to avoid overtaking some nasty bomber.

Bullet hit sounds & wounded sounds
Gr.Viper replied to planecrazydale's topic in Thirdwire - First Eagles 1&2
If you are shot directly you'll see the plane flying without you. But. There's another way to be considered killed without getting shot in the head or crashing. This thing http://bbs.thirdwire.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=4851 Don't know about sound... maybe the one from RB2 may be ripped. It was quite loud. -
My X-52 Pro trigger button is not recognised by RB3D 'cause I'm not using PPJoy yet. At first it was irritating (I had to plug in simpler joystick to play) but later I actually realised that this bug can be turned into a feature. :umnik2: There were no trigger buttons on flight stick at those times - you can't control throttle, filght and fire at the same time because one free hand is needed to pull the trigger (see "Blue Max"). So now I'm shooting using spacebar only. That really adds immersion and difficulty to 255% AI, engine faiure, fuel mixture control etc Maybe later I'll bind trigger to one of thick switches on X52 base.

I'm gonna go through those after a while http://swwisa.net/munro/ Eastern Front, Russian civil war, Middle East, Italy... Yummy!

Ok... I've overcome my fears and tried it with WFP2 and Campaign Manager and MissionGen. Requires constant tweaking but... Awesome. Fighting Parasol on E.III in 1915 is a completely different experience.

A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti. ..err.. well, you know that..
-
Simple. Revised engine modeling - fuel supply cut at negative g, that can stop engine without me shutting it off or enemy shooting it. Revised damage - I'd rather see parts getting shredded and almost unusable, than fly off at the first hit. And no turbulence sound at low speed that I hear while rolling on the ground, please And an FM-calculator for folks here to play with

Is it just me or someone else can't see a thing from this birds pit? Not that it prevents me from doing baaad things to enemies or dodging bridges jumping at me from nowhere... Nice job! A bit difficult to take off - had to use all control surfaces to keep it from flipping
-
Yup, all you need is 3dMax (free one month trial avaliable at their website... at least it was a while ago) and ThirdWire model exporter at can be found at TW site. Instructions on some special modeling reqirements are listed in readme of one of exporters.

It might sound weird, but I decided to print some maps of the areas we're fighting in. So I went to main OFF website and found that only two relatively low-les maps are avaliable. The link to 4 more detailed maps leads to the same archive. Luckily, hi-res vesions of the two british maps were found here http://www.polovski.com/offdownload.htm So, does anyone have hi-res versions of the other four? At least German maps, 'cause I mainly fly from their fields and exhaust myself with E.III or D.II. Maybe not exactly those - any maps of that period, suitable for navigation i.e. with roads, rivers, cities, maybe elevation clearly marked. I googled, but what I found is hardly suitable for nav use.
