  1. They're working on the game hard... The problem is that most info is available in Russian only. Try their forum - I remember seeing an English section there. They started a wiki museum of aircraft. Had an interview a couple of month ago.. The things are moving and this autumn might give us the reason to upgrade.
  2. Well, the FE engine is very flexible and open for editing.. why not take advantage of it? 'I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.' Albert Einstein So, imagine World War V (yep, I'm a pessimist). General technology level is about the same as during The Great War, though some technical advances from later periods are occasionally available as artifacts - mainly separate components, mostly broken down. The suggested goal of the mod is to create several terrains, new guns, and planes of different classes for both warring parties. Ground units also enter into it.. steam-powered land-train with derelict radar - maybe. Setting.. adjust dates to 2500ish(rather optimistic).. loading screens with brief plane info.. can be done later. Terrains... well, I don't know yet. But maybe more variety should be added to a single map - some high mountains on the edge, dense woods in other parts... barren waste with an airfield on the edge of a crater... a waterfall? Low priority yet. Guns - mainly different calibers, manufacturers... just a decoration, really. Stock ones will do for a start. Planes... that's the main part of the show. Think about Crimson Skies(but add creaking wood and fabric) and early aircraft engineering experiments. Think wild and crazy... Asymmetric, fragile.. I doesn't matter that a plane is too heavy or imbalanced. If it looks right(that is 'old and odd') it can be FM-ed to feel right. The AI must be able to fly it too. I suggest live combat testing with stock planes... Extra features that might be needed but are not critical: -Rocket boosters. Have no idea how to make them... burn in seconds, boost speed, use separate fuel source.. -Turning engine. For the extra heavy bombers this thing will be a nice replacement of a rudder. I saw some engine mod for Harrier jet - it might be a thing worth checking. -Mirror bomb sight. I would be great if there was a possibility to, say, place the pilot/bombardier to the side of bomb bay and let the player see the area where the bombs might fall on a small screen in cockpit, as if it through sophisticated mirror system. Here are some of my lame basic concepts. I CAN do better - want to redesign each of them already. I can even draw proper schemes and plans. Bring more planes if you have some pictures(drawings or photos). Or describe them But we'll badly need someone to do 3D modeling. At least one plane for a start. Just a fighter. Notice double prop. Proportions will be changed - it's just a general concept of an airframe. Short range interceptor. Armed with side cannon, supplied with easy to reload cartridges - 2 shells in each. Look at the bomber below and you'll see why the cannon is needed. Another fighter. Should use high-power engine from the look of it. And it's obviously prone to dive - maybe making the prop face a bit up will create an appearance of the problem fixed(FM can be fixed with CG shift to the back and some lift on the stabs). A heavy bomber the way I see them in WWV. Big. Heavy. Armed. Lethal. Ugly. Bloated. And not at all maneuverable. At the moment I suggest some aircraft design brainstorming, then making a trial model(wish, I could do it)... tuning it... combat testing... painting it.. Hope it will interest someone else apart from moderators(It is FE mod - not some off-topic!!! )

    The texture at first didn't show up in the loadout for me either, so the ini edit was necessary... as long as the bmp fies themselves are right in the same folder, the skin should work. Oh, I think I got it The texture set ini says [TextureSet003].. my own edit was 002] and it worked as I only had one default skin installed.

    My best results so far... Notice 'Died in line of combat' somewhere in the log... Voodoo? --- Flew a night mission... Got shredded by N.11 and had to land on a field again.. I wonder, when I should expect new planes to show up. --- Seems, I start to get the hang of the Eindecker.. downed a Strutter. Was hit pretty hard myself but nothing worth crashing. And got promoted... I love this sim! Met.Office says we're in for some bad weather. Spooky...
  14. Mission files are editable by Notepad. Make a copy on one of the missions in Mission folder, and edit it switching enemy's flight to the plane you want. Just search for the plane type they were originally flying(a couple of entries) and edit those...
  15. If it's a bomber then it might show up in Intercept type missions. Just make sure the beast is available at the mission date you set.

    Head for Workshops. I think it's the left-bottom option. If you switch it, desktop itself won't be changing resolution but menu and CM will be shown with lots of black background. --- There are broken birds scattered over The white cliffs of Dover --- LOL. My longest surviving pilot survives manly by spending a month in hospital after each flight Started January 1916 - it is May now. 4 crashes. Once failed to pull out of long dive Once ran out of fuel right in the middle of scramble dogfight (8 Nieups tried to level our airfield). Once.. erm.. released the stick during take off E.III doesn't climb - it just goes 'OK, one more meter and that's final' I wonder for how long tis lucky streak will continue... this pilot doesn't even have kill claims --- Now he has claims. 6. In one mission. Scramble of our E.III flight against a swarm of Dh.2. I didn't even get a scratch - wing was shot once by friendly fire from the ground. 25 minutes of low level dogfight. My arm hurts! My brain hurts too! But it was fun... How fast are claims processed in-game?

    I was flying quite low in mountains and trying to get away, so I constantly played with mixture observing speed change through HUD you get pressing Z(cheater!). The mixture wasn't all the way back, I think. When the engine started to behave strangely I made it even richer... The plane was shot a little bit but I noticed only airframe hits, though I can't be sure.. So fuel leak is possible, but the 'unknown reason'(got it once after being shot my AAMG) still sounds interesting. 3 pointer? I once landed a D.VII on three points. The points were: left gear, tail skid, left wing tip. Then I stopped and saw a nice animation of pilot limping away from burning plane. Then campaign manager said, the pilot was dead. For landings on gear I learned to do that 180 turn - better than brakes

    What are the possible reasons for engine failure? I was just running away from a pack of S.VII at tree top level made it quite far into friendly territory then all of a sudden my engine coughs and stops, I stall immediately and nose-dive into the bushes.. Yet another pilot dead. Tried to autostart it to see what's wrong but didn't have enough time... I had similar crashes due to fuel leaks and once for "Unknown reason". What kind of engine problems are modeled there?

    Phase two doesn't seem to need anything from Phase one AND can be installed over P1. Quite convenient... :yes: Can someone please explain me, how am I supposed to attack a ground target with machine guns and NOT get my wings and fuel tank ripped? I've heard the 'never get below 3000ft' rule but try to telling it to Generator that sends me to attack an army base...

    Apparently, the fixed skin pack is coming but we'll have to wait 'a day and a half' http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=37513 The game rocks! I killed 2 of my pilots already. Wish I could enable all the terrain graphics Dawn. 3 E.III front line patrol/spotting mission. 20 minute flight to the target(perfect time to read manual And to see the sun rise from the clouds ).. Then even before we've reached the trenches and were right above a friendly airfield a number of blips showed up close on tac display(kept it on for navigation). Looked up over the shoulder(TrackIR be praised!) and found 5 Strutters way above us. 5 secs later I was hit really bad. Half of controls were gone, fuel tank hit(say 'good bye' to home base).. Luckily they didn't hit the pilot. I tired to land the kite right on the airfield below... pulled out of dive in the last second, touched the runway then started reaching for fuel line cut shortcut - got distracted, released the joystick.. E.III would immediately flip nose down and burst into flames. 15 days of hospital Love it

It isn't all right. Fails to unpack some dh2 skin... some people are reporting the same issue on their forum so it's server again. Those who managed to download from the old site are the luckiest.
