Sorry BUff....that should read 1.9 (2ghz according to Bios) Anyway NC, lots of good advice here. If it were me, I would save for the best. I just hate compromising, but I understand the money thing. I always tend to look down the road far enough (3yrs) and ask my self if I will still be happy with my selection. Buying a comparable card to the 4200 may be fine now, but what about next year when you want to fly FS2005?? Will you still be satisfied. My outlook is that money spent now will pay off in frustation down the road. I've been 100% happy with my ATI 9700 PRO AIW (a year old now) and I suspect I will be happy for a couple more years....or at least my Wife will when she gets my hand-me-downs...hehe <C> Fates

I run a AMD 2400 @1.6Ghz..... Honestly...I don't think you need to replace you CPU at all... I think you will kick back and slam a cold shot of Whiskey while in awe after seeing what a new graphics card can do for your machine. Matter of Fact, I'll buy if you aren't amazed. <C> Fates

The Radeon 9800 Pro is top notch...and is hittiin the market around $219...some places slightly less <C> Fates

Oh to be a fly on the wall....at a Beta-Testers house.... That's good news, but I question it's truthfullness. Mainly because he never really stated (at least in your snippet) that the game was turned up full blast graphically. It's always good to understand the datum point of any benchmark. Fates

Yep...it does... Not sure I care for that, but the whole chat thing began as a means to allow the staffers to communicate better. We try to hold monthly meetings, and between all the different medias: ICQ, yahoo, etc..etc.. A chat function for the site seem the logical conclusion. Their are some other chat boxes out there. Some are free, many are not. MJ's watching the boards and we may soon have a better chat box. Until then, this one is simple to use and it only shows the last 20 lines or so of the conversation from what I see. Hope everyone enjoy's it! <C> Fates

I've been watching this Stanley Cup thread but I was wondering how many NASCAR fans we have in the crowd. Been thinkin to ask this for some time. However, DW has been thinkin of drivin the Aarons Dream Machine as well. Anyway I'm a fanatic....watch every weekend while tuning into trackpass as well. Taladega and California were great, and theirs no race this week, but...there's so much more to come with the new Nextel cup rules Who's Your Favorite? <C> Fates

Field Filler are a joke, IMHO. These guys get a sponsor to pay for a ride, when possible, then justify their salary with the earning. 50K for 1 lap in the Daytona 500. Ruttman took one lap and earned $54,000 Dollars. These guys seriously piss me off, but not as much as NASCAR for creating the situation in the first place. Weasy knows where I'm coming from. I live in Indianapolis. This is the heart of everything racing. Maybe not the heart of Nascar, but all racing combined. The Indy 500 is located in a town called SPEEDWAY, and Raceway road is 2 blocks from my house. Indy is host to Nascar, IRL, NHRA, and F1. 3 of which are the largest single day sporting events in the world. I rooting for Jimmie Johnson. He is well deserving of a Nascar Championship. I got a chance to meet him one...very down to earth guy. Flew out on one of our Learjets. All I gotta say about DEI...; Michael Waltrip is loosing touch and I hope is dropped from the team. Go Dale...live the legend On Nadeau, I'm sorry man...wish ya all the luck. Reminds me of Stan Fox...he'll never be the same. On Kasey Kahne....You'll never walk in Elliots shoes so don't try to put them on. Race your own race....you will be legendary. CHeers! Fates

Oblivion Lost has added a couple of Calendars for S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl. If this game hasn't caught you eye, I'll difenately say that it's caught mine. With HL2 and Doom 3 and Far Cry leading the way, STALKER is coming slow and fast under the radar to deliver an well know environment with an incredible plot twist. Where else to put mutant creature then on the site of a legendary nuclear accident. What really catches my eye is the incredible attention to detail in the texturing. The screenshots really are wonderful. If the multiplayer gameplay is as good if not better then AAO, I'll be all over this TacSim title. I've read countless reviews...and the ATI cards are definately the winner...but they all hint about Nvidia's return to the table as being a damn good one.... One that eventually might lead to them recovering from a few years of dispair and unseating ATI from it's current Throne. <C> Fates

To my knowledge no. However, you may be able to setup a COD Server on a local machine....and connect to that....so ..It can be done I believe, you just woudn't want to host more then 4 people. I'll check into it for ya more this weekend and see what I can dig up <C> Fates

Community Update - 4.30.04 Update 1.01 Info DICE and EA are pleased to announce that the first Battlefield Vietnam update has entered the home stretch here at EA and should be ready for release in the very near future. We've spent some time gathering and evaluating the feedback on Battlefield Vietnam from the community, community forums and from the Battlefield Vietnam Performance Issues e-mails we solicited back in mid-March. We're happy to report that we have been able to address many of these issues for the update. While future Battlefield Vietnam updates will include game features that were added to Battlefield 1942 post-ship (such as the Voting GUI), v1.01 is intended to address community related issues. The following is a list of the major items being addressed in v1.01. Of particular note in this list are tweaks to server functionality that should provide a much improved play-experience on servers that are hosting high-player-count games (please note the server hardware requirements posted in the Community Update from April 9, fixes to the internal server browser functionality, and rebalancing of the M60, the RPD and the US Heavy Assault kits. That said, here is the list of changes in Patch v1.2! Patch 2 (v1.2) change log Gameplay changes Made the run speed about 15% faster Made sprint last 30% longer Adjusted damage to vehicles Vehicles now survive longer in multiplayer and behave consistently between weapon damage types Bullet damage can be disabled by "g_vehicleBulletDamage" cvar: 0 = no bullet damage (default), 1 = bullet damage; this works only in MP. THat's about as bad as this blonde joke I heard the other day...... I blonde police officer pulls over another blonde for speeding. She approaches the vehicle and asks the driver for her liscense. She stumbles thru her purse...then looks back up at the officer and asks, "What does it look like officier?" The Blonde officer replies..."It's the item in your purse with your picture on it." The Blonde reaches in her purse and pull out this plastic case, opens it and looks and sees her picture. She hands it to the officer, and the officer says, "If I would have known you were a police officer I wouldn't have stopped you." Cheers! Fates

Not me. I'm an ATI user...all the way. Your problem may have been the MOBO not liking the ATI card...and not the Software. There are just to many things that can come into play. I've had 100% good luck with ATI up till now. I'm having difficulty with Battlefield Vietnam. But so is everyone else. NVidia just released a new card...and ATI is gonna follow up with a better one in 15 days....which will I choose....ATI...all the way <C> Fates
