  3. Far Cry Review Complete

Read the Review Well, I finally got the Far Cry review complete. This truely is an incredible game that has kept me coming back for more singleplayer and multiplayer intense fire fights. I hope everyone enjoys it, and don't be afraid to ask questions. I think I may be studying up on the Sandbox Editor and may even produce a few HOW TO's for everyone if their interested. CHeers! Fates
  4. Jesse Ventura For President?

I don't normally get into political post, but this one caught my eye: Jesse May Run... Why, becuse I believe there's an alternate hidden agenda. We all know that "The Body" is a former Special Forces Soldier. But, have you seen pictures of him lately? I believe that Jesse is planning a trip to Cuba to secretly take over as a Fidel Castro look-a-like. Sen. Kerry has approved the plan for Ventura to take over power of Cuba. He's hoping that nobody notices the regime change, unlike Bush's efforts in Iraq. Fates
  5. Hopefully Dagger can help you get your LOMAC and IL-2 frustrations out of the way. However, your post was about UBISOFT putting out a good product. To that, I must say that it's not really Ubisofts fault. Ubisoft released Far Cry and It's been a blast with few initial bugs, and a patch was released with 48 hours of the game hitting the shelves. BAsically what I'm getting at is that the Developer is responsible for making a quality product by a certain deadline. LOMAC was in desprate need of work as that deadline approached, and Ubisoft keep giving them more time, but you also have to remember that UBI has printers and marketers and shippers that are all expecting a promised job...and they aren't getting it. Ubisoft, IMHO did the best they could with what they had, and any release problems remain completely on the shoulders of the Developer....in this case, Eagle Dynamics. Crytek promised Far Cry would meet Ubi's deadline, and even after their dev studio was raided, and several days of setbacks happened, they still put out a near bug free game on time. I'm sure that other developers have done the same. Look at EA's release of the Janes product line. USAF had only 1 patch if I recall...and that game is still being played. The producers generally always take the heat for Developer problems...but ultimately it's the Developer's hard work and efforts that will decide if they survive to make another game.
  6. Brothers In Arms Announced

  8. Brothers In Arms Announced

This is an incredible inspiration graphically, but will it's Multiplayer aspects ring thru? One of the main reasons I'm not a huge BF:1942 fan was the fact that I never really cared for it's MP. The same rings true for Call of Duty. The SP side is absolutely incredible, but the MP side is much like Bf:1942...a bunny hoppin, no coordination deathmatch. I'm truely looking for a WW2 game that has an incredible story to tell, like COD or Brother in Arms, but I don't want that sense of fellowship to end after the SP game is over. I want to take that emotion and have it pounded into my head in the Multiplayer side. If this game can do that, I think they will gain an enormous amount of respect from non-sim fans as well. Cheer! 9. Ubisoft And Aa

I personally don't think that AAO is going commercial. Yes they are in agreement with UBI but it's my understanding that this is simply to market to console machines. You have to remember that this is a recruiting tool, and there are many more highschoolerss out there that may have a playstation or Xbox, and they don't have a PC. So, what better means to get the product out to more masses. I'm hoping that with the US Army steamrolling the show, you may wind up paying for the console version, but it will be relatively low cost compared to other console titles like Vice City. Expect them to charge a few pennies above the cost of production and shipping. Maybe $9.95? However it does say: "Based on the America's Army game". That may be construed to say that there may be a different console version all together, something that may not even be endorsed by the US Army...and certainly no free. I don't play consoles so IMHO this doesn't effect me at all. That and my experience playing the game has been waining in recent months without the lack of some new maps and abilities. Can't wait till version 2.1 is released. <C> Fates

I was reading a thread over at AAO site...found these: <C> Fates
  15. History Channel

Not to derail the thread...but What the heck does anyone every see in Hockey? Today Indianapolis lost their semi-pro league "The Ice"...good riddens....I honestly think that Arena Football is more enjoying.. Yeah Snapple...I know...it may be fun to play...but as a spectator..there just aint no point scoring to make the game more interesting. If Hockey got a scoring overhaul that let's say...making games like 14-20 scores...then...I'd be interested. Anyway...Yes...I have the DVD set as well...seen it countless times...the best war series I've ever seen to date. <C> Fates

  17. Can't Get Into Servers

There's a lot of people that arn't happy with the interface...but it's usable...the question is...is it customizable? Answer...not for the standard gamer. Although...I'm sure their may eventually be a LUA file re-write that allows for such things. Teut was intrigued a long time ago about the gamers needs for a better HUD...he even offered a prize to the winner...It's the 3rd most popular post at www.secretwars.net and has countless entries. Teut never did own up to either of his promises...yet. Here was my entry. A fully HCS (Hud Customization System). This fell right in line with their other Customization systems...and just seem to fit right in. I would love to see it implemented on day...of course...I'd like to play the game one day too....hehe
  18. Punkbuster Get An Overhaul

THis is excellent news today and for the future of online gaming. A MBL is a great tool that was in thought long before PB. I've noted several squads creating a "league" that would share information about cheaters. Their MBL would be shared amongst league members..much similar to PB's AMBL....except manually updated and sometimes days old. Automation is the only way to go.... <C> Fates
  19. Can't Get Into Servers

With everything else on my plate at the moment, I've given up on this lame excuse for a demo. Sorry...I'm sure it works for some, but there was no reason to release this to the US market only to get a huge influx of pissed off customers. That simply is not good relations. Good news is: Yuo can try the BetaDemo FAQ here: Planet Soldner

Two maps: Cold Winter (supports jets 16-32 players) Riverside (supports helicopters 16-32 players) Three game modes: Conquest – A variation of “Capture the Flag,” the goal is to capture all the bases of the opposite team. Once the bases’ flag is captured, it changes color (as the soldier stays near the flag for a short time). Points are deducted from the team with the least amount of bases/flags. Once the team loses all its bases or the timer reaches zero, the game is over. Team Deathmatch – One of the simplest of MP games; teams fight against each other, and hits are counted for each team. Hostage Rescue – One team holds NPC hostages while the other team tries to rescue them and escort them to a target area. If either team eliminates a hostage, they receive a “penalty.” All equipment: Medi-Kit, Engineer Tool-Kit, Bomb Kit, Commander Kit, Sniper Kit, Visor (Infra-Red), Visor (Night Vision), Body Armor Weapons and vehicles: 3 pistols 17 rifle class (machine guns, sniper rifles, grenade launcher, etc) All the grenades (colored smoke, frag, stun) 4 rocket launchers 13 wheeled vehicles (jeeps to APC’s and more!) 6 tracked vehicles (APC’s to main battle tanks) 8 VTOL craft (AH-64D Apache, Ka-50 Hokum, UH-60/-60L BlackHawks, V-22 Osprey, and more) 2 VTOL jet aircraft (Harrier m4 and yak-41)
