Welcome to the WWII Fighters forum!
Fates replied to MadJeff's topic in General Flight Sim Discussion
Thanks for the Info Jeff.....I have this sim somewhere....gonna have to dust the CD off, but can't wait to throw it back in and try.... Is there any known probs with WinXP? and/or Radeon? -
Well....I for one know where your coming from. I've been in several full motion commercial flight simulators, as well as helped in maintaining a 707 and 727 sim. I sorta sit on the hardware side more then the software side, but your correct when you say "full flight simulators that are used in commercial and military use do not model reality 100%" I'm also a extrememly low time pilot and and I believe I can agree to some point that any simulator is not about being 100% accurate as it is about being 100% believable. Keeping that in mind.....as computers can become more advanced to make the average gamer "perceive" reality...then the word "simulation" will take on a different light.

Welcome ArgonV as the new WWI Forum moderator
Fates replied to MadJeff's topic in WWI Flight Sim Discussion
Congrats ArgonV, I've never played a WWI flight sim, but I've worked on some actual aircraft from those early times. They Include the PT19a and the Curtiss Jn-4D Jenny. I would just love to get back to the basics of recovering cloth aircraft, or rebuilding one of them "Round" engines...hehe Cheers! -
I've been to that site a few times....and from what I've seen....simply marvelous!

Well.....here's the 3DMark2001 scores: This is not OC'd....but it's at 8x....the Radeon card, to my understanding, forces the Asus Bios to 8x and does not allow the owner to change the AGP setting. This was addressed to Radeon by their consumers becuase it does it to more then just ASUS boards. My understanding was that the latest Catalyst Drivers....well..I have the latest and apparently it does not.

Ranger...exactly what do you mean by "BETTER" results? -
Ok... Like Jeff has said, a joke is one thing, but aiming it at a particular belief, country, person can only open up more mud throwing. Just ask the many factions of the world. The mud throwing is fine...everyone is entitled to their opinion but without civility the mud turns into stones and the stones turn into swords and the swords turn into bombs. Their reaches a point in almost all political threads where each side gets more and more offended, and eventually it just needs to be locked before the first stone is cast... So it shall be done Cheers!

Sorry for the confusion Ranger, I'll see if MJ can move this thread to the "Biohaz Bugs Forum" and fix the problem.... not sure where an alternative download might be...sorry Cheers!

Display resolution?
Fates replied to Hellcat's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I just tried mine with now problems. My only suggestion is to either check your Video Card Drivers and see if they are the latest, if they are, you may want to roll them back to the previous version and see if that works. I haven't heard of any GF4 display issues. Fates ASUS A7V8X/AMD2400/Radeon 9700 PRO AIW/512 MB DDR 2700/WinXP -

wow.....I've got a pic somewhere of one of our companies personal jets pulling up next to the Concord (British Airways) and letting our owners get out and walk 30 feet to board the Concord. Last I remember it was like 10K round trip to fly!

10 new LOMAC refueling shots
Fates replied to MadJeff's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
1) Why are there 6 of the 10 pics showing different views of inflight refueling of an aircraft that's completly controlled by the computer? Where's the skill in that? 2) Why the F-16? That's alot of pics of a non-flyable. I understand pics of the ground/sea forces help immerse the potential customer into buying the game (heck...i was immersed a year ago) 3) I'm quite happy to see the underside of the Mig29 and the fact that the weapons shadow on the airframe....this has been a difficult task for 3d Artist to overcome in games, or maybe just a technology boost coming from more powerful graphics cards today.. I am truely amazed at this. Also not only does the missle shadow the airframe, the airframe shadows the missles. -
FE, It works exactly like the engine of a car. There is fluid that is pumped thru a radiator that has fans blowing/pulling air thru the radiator. There is a small electrical pump that circulates the water, and there is a plate that attaches over the CPU. Additional plates can be attached thru out the system to cool the Video card, co-processor, hard drive etc... Here's a popular complete case available at CompUSA for around $220 http://www.koolance.com/products/product.h...ml?code=CCS-A08

Ok, the Radeon 9700 Pro AIW is installed and everything is working as advertised. Running Latest Bios, and drivers for the the mobo and card. Had a little trouble at first and thought I was gonna be dissapointed, but I stuck with it and read the forums and followed everyones instructions. My Framerates for Nascar with everything turned to full on and 43 cars reaches about 115Fps. I also rewired my PC to provide some extra cooling and I'm now at 33 Degrees C. I'm seriously looking into a water cooler (Koolance). Seen a system at CompUSA and realized....DAMN thats quite! I'm sure I still got some tweaking to do, but everything is running stable so far. (knock..knock) Can't Wait to benchtest against someone...just need the software to do that. SYSTEM: Antec SOHO 350 Case Asus A7V8X Mobo with SATA/RAID/USB2.0/1394/5.1 Sound/Broadcom 10/100 LAN AMD 2400 XP (not overclocked yet) 2.0Ghz Radeon 9700 Pro All-in-Wonder w/ Latest Catalyst 3.1 Drivers Kingston 512MB DDR 2700 RAM ThermalTake Volcano 9 Coolmod HSF Envision 19" Flat CRT Saitek X45 Hotas, Logitech Wingman RumblePad I should say that my ONLY dissapointment so far has been with the built on sound drivers. I'm not sure exactly where the issues lies, but Nascar 2003 forces my sound card to go into an Environmental Mode "Quarry". This means that everything that creates sound...ie..ICQ, RW, Game all have this reverb on...this is VERY annoying. I've since updated to the latest ASUS drivers and it seems that other applications from ATI have done the same thing intermitantly, while Nascar seems to have gotten worse. I have a SB 5.1 live card in my desk...I may just turn the onboard sound off and install it. Don't fret Beer...SFP1 sounds remain unharmed. Tested more tonite...NO probs with Enviro Mode "Quarry" except from Nascar2003....shot Papy off an email tonite.
