A Multiplaya Someday
Fates replied to kidgalahad's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I'll have to agree with BP_Moscow! I also think that getting the Hyperlobby as a game launcher would be a great addition to you software....it's free. http://hyperfighter.jinak.cz/ Also...I've never used Track IR....but in my opinion...if your gonna mix it with the pizza and beer....you better get some towels and a barf bag. Just Kidding. Track IR is a great if you want to do more flying then dying... Cheers! -
Not to brag too much, but Consider Purdue University. Their Aeronautical Engineering School is the tops in the Country....just ask an astronaut. Their flight program is on par with Embry Riddle. I've known many ROTC students from each of the Armed Forces while I was there. Almost all went on to flight school in their respective branch. Although military life was not for me, the choice to attend Purdue Aero was one I'll never forget. Bachelors 1996. You can have a First Class Education as well as a great beer at Harry's Chocolate Shop. (GO UGLY EARLY!) HAIL PURDUE! Fates

Carrier ops
Fates replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Those Carrier Pics are for CFS, not SFP1. As far as BETA testing, the pics are from CFS, I'm not sure where the beta testing was done for THAT version of the carrier (in CFS(2)). The post at SimHQ refers to the fact that the Carriers from CFS are in 3DsMAx format and COULD be imported...however, there still is the landing problem to be worked out. I can't explain all the SimHq post at this moment because SimHQ is down. Have Fun!!! -
OK, Here's the MOD....takes a couple of days downtime for everything to dry and cure but it's well worth it. Start with a stock stick: Then Double check that you have everything that's needed. Here's the List: Stick, automotive "blue tape", Sealant "PRC 1425 B1/2", sealant gun, knife, rubber gloves, lubricant, and Beer! I use the BLUE TAPE because it sticks well, peels off well, and contours well. I mask off the area that I want to add the sealant too: I will then mix the sealant...which is pretty easy, and put it into the gun to use. Put a good glob of it on the stick and this is where it all gets interesting. The Gloves and lubricant are not what you think they are for. They are used by putting on the gloves and lubing it up so you can form the rubber compound without having it stick to your fingers. I would suggest several gloves, and any lube will work...like WD40 or something. The B 1/2 Sealant take about a 1/2 hour to cure to the point where you can remove the tape and not damage the molding. And when you all done, let the stick set for 20-40 hours to cure. The rubber will smell a little at first, but that will eventually go away. After the cure time, I was able to use my stick with 16 hours, but it is a little greasy, and you will have to let the rubber cure more so you can remove the excess lube with a towell. When I was all done, I add 3/8" to the stick base to lift my hand higher onto the POV's and buttons. I also added comfort for those long hours of flight. Enjoy! Cheers!

To my knowledge, only the throtttle has an adjustment for tension. I have found that putting vaseline under the spring loaded disk will "smooth the action" so to speak...hehe...however I'm sure you could replace the spring under the joystick with a thicker guage. I don't think I'm gonna experiment that far yet. Maybe I can do some more experimenting if the Misses allows me to purchase a TM Cougar.

Please, everyone tune into CNN....a very sad thing has happened today. My sincere well wishes to those that support this modern science and to the family and crew.

Fates replied to Dialoguewiththestars's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion

BTW...I'm not old enough to have worked on it in real life...no..sir..ree... There were 2 prototype and actual ANG T33's at the tech school i went to. -

::ATTENTION:: For anyone Wanting a better View system in SF
Fates replied to wiegehts's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Begin with X45...add duct tape, a cloths hanger and a trackball mouse....WOW.... That'll put Track IR outta business...hehe CHeers! -
OK....the Demo is out for all you race fans...and WOW is it great. Here's the Link to the Demo: http://tek54.net/Nr2003Demo.zip Have fun....TeamODB will be starting a Racing Series in a couple weeks. I'll post more information for those interested. For those that didn't know, Nascar has sold out to EA Sports and their pay to play forums. Papyrus, which has long dedicated it's talents to perfecting the race sim, will no longer be envolved in Nascar sims. This is quite a shame since their products have met such a high standard. I've tested the DEMO and WOW...It is great from the ground up. The Full Version will hit the shelves on Feb 4th. Cheers

My Saitek for SFP1
Fates posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
OK....was wondering if a few of you could give me some critique on the following file: I left some keys open but there's only so many to program. I use the default controller INI file and edit it for my controller. I've found the if you use the in game setup to adjust your stick, it does work, but will often not unassign a function that was previously duplicated. ie...I have "fire weapon" as the "launch" key....if I reassign the "Launch" key, I will not have 2 functions assigned to the launch key, and ony one will work. I've had to go into the INI file to edit this. Here are the major things that I've found useful. I use the mouse button on the throttle to give me the MAP....this acts like a JTIDS in some respect. I use throttle Fire D as a speedbreak I use the joystick Fire A to select radar mode I use the joystick Fire B to deselect radar target I use the Joystick #1 POV for camera view...(Thinkin to change to snap view) I use the secondar joystick POV for AA and AG weapon select For those that use Roger Wilco...I've set up my profile thru the SAITEK software to make the FIRE C button = Scroll_Lock. I then make RW activate via the Scroll_lock. I've found this to be a effective setup...but please don't be affraid to let me know what you think <C> -
My Saitek for SFP1
Fates replied to Fates's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The one thing that hurts me the most is the PINKY SHIFT button....I find I'm accidentally hitting it. THis is mainly because I'm used to my old Logitech.... This is also the main reason why I'm goin to mod my joystick this week to insert a rubber grip to lift my hand up higher on the stick. This may not get rid of my accidental Pinkie Shift, but it will make the rest of the joystick keys easier to use. -
Well....my only complaint about the Saitek Controller has been the Comfortability of the Joystick. The throttle comfort is great, but I miss my old Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital when it comes to comfort. Hence I will be working on a mod, unless someone already knows of one, that will increase the comfort. I would like to see how much interest there is out there. All I'm really gonna do is create a Rubber attachment to the FLAT hand support on the Joystick. This will prop my hand up a little higher on the stick as well as create a cushion for long term flying. I'll let everyone know how it turns out <C>

OK MJ... I bought the materials that I should need for the mod today...gonna try to get it all done by the end of the week....wish me luck!
-
Ok....why? Fox airs new show Man vs. Beast and decides to put several little people up against an Elephant to see who could pull a 5 Ton DC-10 75 feet in the shortest amount of time.... Care to Guess who won?
-
Ok MJ, I created a chat room....now I can't get rid of it???? I exit the chat room I created....but it's still there...and It says i'm still in the chat room. I waited the 180 seconds...then I'm no longer in the chat room I created....by I can't twinkle my nose and make it all dissappear? There's an easy way to add a chat room, but not a way that My drunk butt sees for the creator to delete it when he's done with it. Maybe I'should just goto bed and it'll all be gone in the morning??? Any suggestions?

In that case, let me explain a few things. 1. Standard USAF 1.02 carries stock flyables only. 2. The USAF Development Group has re-created the original game and designated it Super Pro 9 (SP9) 3. The two are actually completely different with the latter based on the original For you SP9 needs to fly all those aircraft, stop by McFly's SP9 site: http://www.bobsyouruncle.net/adminsuperpro.htm Most download sites are closed but I know you can get it from the 195th Blacksheep: mailto:http://bblacksheep.homestead.com/BlackSheep.html%20 I currently have an outdated version of the latest admin. Correction....downloading latest version now...it's 260Mb. I'm receiving it from: http://bulldawgs.org/mirrors/superpro/ This is a complete new game...you will have to read the instruction at McFly's site to better understand the installation process...especially if you want to run both versions BTW....don't forget to check out this: http://www.biohazcentral.com/index.php?&catid=4 Let me know if I can help anywhere else Cheers!

Hey Dagger! Thought this forum was gonna dry up as well. However there were about 15 pilots in HL last night flying a bunch! Anyway, your best bet is to hop over to Mcfly Hangar: Utilities http://www.bobsyouruncle.net/utilities.htm Pick up the NO CD Patch and you'll be set. Extract the file to your Janes Combat Sim/USAF folder and it will overwrite the original 1.02 USAF.exe file Most players play in HL although some still use Gamespy. good luck...any other problems...just let me know Fates
-
Well....Hyperlobby has always been my choice. I'm pretty geared towards the multiplayer online experience that HL brings. I like IP connect for troubleshooting and missions... I've never been a big Lamespy supporter. Just my 2 cents. Thanks Jiri.

Well, Weasel 87th bought me a free beer when I started....I'm gonna buy another round for the pub and say CHEERS! Welcome Aboard!

Poll: Which aircraft would you want added?
Fates replied to Seawolf's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
Just my opinions but, Lomac is screaming for an F16. Yes, the F16 has probably been flight simmed to death, but I find it odd that UBI would publish countless pictures of a non-flyable aircraft with out seriously considering the game followers constant cries for this as a flyable. With the versatility of this aircraft and the countless NATO aligned countries that use it, I would expect to see it in the upgrade. Besides that, I think that the next aircraft we may see is the addition of the F14. Many people have stated that there are no 2 seaters in this game and that this is something that Ubi-soft may definately be working to correct in a future add-on. The F14 fills that role graciously. Keep in mind that there are many screaming for the Tornado as well as the Harrier and Rafael. Of these three, I think the Tornado would win in an add-on for its simplier producability. I'm gonna be happy flying just about anything this sim creates. <C> P.S. Make The F4 Phantom Flyable as well.... -
Bad day for am F-15 crew

Thank God there was no post accident fire. These pilots were truely being watched out for.
