  1. What screen rez do you run at?

the majority of users probably still run 800x600, however more and more people are purchasing computers with 17" screens or better. I just converted most of my site to 1024x768, which has become the next standard for larger monitors. I run 1024x768 at home....on a 19" monitor. I would run this resolution on a 17" monitor, but If i still ran a 15", I would run 800x600.
  2. GMAX Help

If I uninstall/reinstall one more time....I'm gonna put everything down except my beer and then I'm gonna pick up a shot gun and send my old comfuser straight to HELL. Anyway....I Downloaded the software...the first time was from the FTP site and when I went to install, it installed some software from Megalux know as Ultimate FX....a graphics/photo editor.... The went thru 2 u/isntalls before I said F-it and moved on....chugged a Coors, then downloaded it from Autodesk. This version worked. I meet the (Minimum Requirements) with little room to spare. I think I answered a setup question wrong when I first ran it....picked OpenGL instead of Direct3D....now when it runs...I see the actual program screen flash then dissapear. It is now longer running. I'm still WIN 98se..I did another un/Install and same thing....but this time it didn't show a setup screen after the install... I opened up the ini file to see the OpenGL was still there.....How can I go about another setup run of this program to change my settings? Will another beer help my problems? Let's see Fates
  3. Mod Squads? Odd Squads? Your Squad?

I can see it now....Denzil_SW (Skunkworks).....A devoted team of pilots that take to the skes in the unique skinned aircraft. All black with a white stripe on the spine of the aircraft. The Unique Pepee La Pue on the tail and the callsign under the canopy..... They fly X-Planes still in development against veteran pilots. More to come.... Fates
  4. <C> USAF is not ready to be put to ground yet. You know as well as I that this game is still kickin much more then some other older and newer Janes releases. I sorta came into the USAF crowd when it was full bore. However, several on the squad have been around since Day 1, and still visit the HL and Gamespy. As far as Woopopeye...LMAO....he's around...you'll be shot down by him before they shut the coffin door on this game.....IMHO... You said one thing about this game that i must quote here because I think it's sums up why everyone has come to enjoy USAF so much: I think that USAF has brought one thing to flight simmers and that's just the simple joy of dogfighting FUN. Yes, the avionics weren't up to F4 status, and neither may have been the FM's or other aspects of the game. however, IMHO they were deceptive enough to make you BELIEVE they were real...so you could just simply enjoy the game. That's what its all about...FUN so....sit back, relax, ....and have another on me Cheers Fates
  5. Mod Squads? Odd Squads? Your Squad?

<C> Injun, Weasy, et al There's no telling how many new squads will make their way out of the woodworks once this game hits the shelves. I hope many fly solo long enough to 1) get used to the game from wally-beta veterans, and 2) get used to the system that will be in place for multiplayer. I'm speaking of the gamers that are new to squads and flight sims. The squads will be able to sort those out, and the renegades will stay that way, while the enthusiast that wants to learn more will eventually find a squad that's right for them. I think Weasy and I represent two very different squads that still have the same goal: FUN. MadJeff is starting a list here for all squads. Depending on how large this lists grows, he may have to divide it up into flight sims played. I'm sure there will be some that are strictly LOMAC and not P1, and vice versa. I would recommend that everyone lists their site with BIOHAZCentral. As more and more squads appear, all players will benefit by a master list, as could be found here. We all know that some squads start up and last 2 weeks and then disband and become 2-3 different squads....hehe Don't worry about support from HL. It may take time for Jiri to get a polished version of the game (patches included) before we see support their. As Weasel stated, the game is already in the works to head to Jiri's lap. However, until it gets there, Gamespy will support P1. Cheers Fates
  6. After reading the boards and surfing several online stores. I've found that Strike Fighter: Project 1 has gone GOLD! And we should all expect to see it on our store shelves in 2 weeks. This doesn't appear to be a Hoax...There have been several people working countless hours to bring this game to you. I think TK has finally put his blessing on the product. Several at Sim HQ are not denying it has gone gold, in fact they keep implying it has. This is just my opinion.... Fates
  7. Denzil, how many request has everyone seen for a B-58 Hustler Flyable in Project-1? Man-o-Man I would love to fly this in a mission. I'll even take this one into a dogfight....just puch the throttles foward and after I pass everyone....I fire my rear mounted 20mm Gatlin gun. Maybe you can give BigBeer_ODB some GMAX lessons and we'll be flying it in no time.... BTW, Great work, Simply Marvelous!!! Cheers Fates
  8. I've already started the Research. I think Beer_ODB and myself are gonna dabble with this one as a project. Hope your not offended, I was just curious if it was on the list, I know you guys got a lot on your plate. I may pick your mind about about Gmax time and again. We're just gettin to spin out some graphics. Big Beer has done a few oil rig platforms and such. I can't run Gmax on my system now, put I should have my new machine up in a month! Cheers Fates
  9. Flight sims are not goin out....but here's a glimpse of what we will see in the future: Many modern games are taking advantage of allowing the player to play on multiple fronts: In the air, on the ground, at sea... This has been a concept that has been around for aa long time. We are just now starting to see games like WWII: Online, and Battlefield:1942 emerge that are starting to depict what the future of sim will be. Granted we may sit back and discuss Simulation vs. Arcade, but my opinion is that for producer to make games that allow a player to play in multiple arenas, those game may lean towards the arcade side. Janes started a site called "All Out War" in which their original intent was to link all their released games and combine them into one map and platform where fighters from USAF could be dogfighting with fighters from F/A-18. There were to be ground troops and naval battles and the whole nine yards. I'm sure they weren't the first to attempt this, but there one of the few that I remember in recent history. The Future of Simulation is here. It may be in somewhat of an arcade format, but as computers and technology a pushed to the limits, so will game producers. Within 10 years, IMO, we will see games that are modulated. In other words, there will be one game in which you can buy modules for. Each module will consist of one arena: Naval Forces, Air Forces, Ground Forces: Troops, Ground Forces: Manned Vehicle, etc... You will be able to buy the game along with your favorite sim module. These will all be linked online via one huge multiplayer session. So if you want to be apart of the Air Forces, you may have a choice of countless aircraft..but you will be fighting real players....in the air and on the ground...much like the arcrade style games of today. My reply to the question "Are flight sims on their way out?" is this: They have only just begun. For true simulation you would need a person firing that SAM at your aircraft, or a person with a 50 cal firing AAA...Only then will it truly be "Simulation" Fates

  13. Welcome

As everyone may well be aware, Many squads are patiently waiting for the next great sim. There are 3 major ones that are just around the corner: Strike Fighters: Project 1, Lock On: Modern Air Combat, and MS Combat Flight Simulator 3. Each of these covers an era in flight combat. CFS3 will continue the excellent CFS line with another WW2 era flight sim. Project 1 will test the radar challenged era of the late 50's thru earler 70's, and LOMAC will cater to everyone thats looking for "point-click-destroy" modern era weaponry. Whatever you choices are, there will always be a squad to assist you in becoming the best. I would like to Welcome everyone to Biohaz, and remind them that the Multiplayer experience will take your game to the next level. < C > Fates
  14. Welcome

one word. WOW You bring up some good points on Strike Fighters Weasy, here's my take: I've seen several player of several different games be effected by a new games release date. The colder it is, the more people tend to find indoor activites. I think this will hurt Lomac to some degree, depending on how late in the Spring they tend to release it. Your casual newbies may hold off on the sim to buy a new Moutain Bike. Strike Fighters, however, needs to get the gold out before Xmas. And from what I'm hearing, this is exactly what TK and the rest are working so diligently to do. Hat's off to everyone that's working so hard to make this game suceed. As for the click-pits, don't worry, LOMAC will not have them. Cheers Fates
  15. Fates to BiohazCentral.... Flaps 15 Steer right...270 As you can see from my caution light, I will be landing shortly.... Keep the beer cold Cheers
  16. Nothin Specific

HeHe... Cant count the times I've heard Beatchin Betty yell "Bingo Beer"
  17. Welcome

Virtual Squads would have never come into existance with out games that contained good Multiplayer (MP). I've been playing computer games for years, but it was the introduction of USAF and Jane's Combat Network that really put me in touch with MP. Add into that programs like Roger Wilco and BattleComms....man oh man. I'm an Aircraft Engineer by trade...I can't fly as a fighter pilot due to medical reasons, but when I step into the "virtual cockpit", I get to experience everything I hoped for..........while drinkin a beer... Man aint this fun!!!! < C > Fates
  18. Forum Glitch?

Sorry Weasy....not having a problem on this end....
  19. I guess I'll be the one to burst the bubble and say <Cheers>. Most know me from the good ol JCN days with USAF. I'm an avid skinner and I just can't wait to paint up LOMAC's version of the A10. I hope everyone enjoys the comments in this forum, as I'm sure we can all learn from each other. I may even be available to do a squad logo or 2. Once again...Welcome www.TeamODB.com Fates@TeamODB.com
