X-52 Profile with the new SST
BUFF replied to Destructis's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
You did say that you were on Vista 64? That driver is for 32-bit. You need ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/xpvista..._64_Drivers.exe & ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/xpvista...64_Software.exe These aren't yet full release as the software has at least 2 bugs that they know about & are tracking down. No, those profiles that I linked are of the format for the older software but that doesn't work on Vista. As for the 32/33 etc. this is something to do with LOMAC & afaik it's unique to that game - iirc you need to use the SST to get around it. -
remember that is MSRP - street price is likely to be lower. plus it does appear to have switches ...

X-52 Profile with the new SST
BUFF replied to Destructis's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
so which driver/SST are you using? There should be plenty of Lockon profiles for the older version using .dat (e.g. http://bellsouthpwp.net/l/o/lordoliver/download.htm) -
it's also available at http://www.softuk.com/search2.asp?SearchTy...Search+Products & they ship internationally.

1st off you have to understand that Third Wire basically is one full time employee, TK with others such as artists/modellers temporarily sub-contracted where need be. As has been already said TK is very community minded - look at what he has done in terms of opening the game structure etc. up. Now compare that with Il-2, LOMAC etc. Plus he still brings his oldest games (SF P1 etc.) right up to date whenever he develops the game engine further - how many other developers do that? here at CA in the downloads section is a good start. TK doesn't have MP as very high on his list of priorities, in a sense you're probably lucky that it's got what it has as I suspect that the other option wasn't to include any at all. As such many dedicated MPers find the options a bit simple. what gfx card & CPU do you have? Most LCDs perform best at their native resolution (for yours probably ~1680x1050) if your system can handle it.

The fact that they made 1 says to me that I'm not alone in terms of fit
-
I obviously have small hands/short fingers or something but with the X36 stick I find that if I'm comfortable up the top of the stick then my hand is above the rest & unsupported & not best placed for the pinky- shame that the extension on the X45 wasn't retrofittable. The CH Fighterstick fits me better & has more hat/castle switches so ultimately more commands on the stick plus it looks a bit more realistic.
-
Well, I have a CH Products Fighterstick/Pro Throttle/Pro Pedal setup & I've said it many times but I prefer the CH stick & the Saitek throttle (rotaries, button placement etc.). Along with the review X52 Pro is coming a set of Saitek Pedals so it'll be interesting for me to see how they all compare. I suspect that my ideal is an X52 with the internal improvements of the Pro but without the additional MFD features (but we'll see if I find a use for those) & the price rise. Oh & something else for you (& 531_Ghost)

Interesting link, I never knew that Seymour Powell did the exterior design. I must admit that I'm keeping an eye cocked to see how long the Cougar goes on for. I know that they just released Vista drivers/software for it but it seems to me that TM is going to be an also ran soon & we will be left with CH & Saitek for mass market HOTAS. There will still be cheap generic sticks available, Logis will still fail after 3 months plus a few small production/megabuck boutique setups. Btw I don't know if you know but Saitek have apparently had a few unsolicited approaches enquiring about buying them out? They've appointed a company to investigate their options.

Unfortunately I neither (yet) have an X52 or am playing LOMAC. Probably the best thing to do is to go to www.saitekforum.com. Once you have registered a lot more of the forum will become visible & some user there should be able to walk you through the config. if you can't find an answer in an existing post. It is however, possible that the programmable drivers haven't fully installed properly.
-
Streak, have you tried removing the EEPROM? Interesting comments though - my X36 USB is still going strong & the X45 in many ways looked to me as a slight backward step for the user. Unfortunately it's no longer supported by the latest Saitek drivers/software (along with my P8000) so won't be able to use the additional features that they are implementing. Saitek are meant to be sending me an X52 Pro for review so I should be able to give you a direct X36>X52 Pro comparison if you can hang on.

Welcome to CA. Have you actually enabled the LOMAC profile on the X52? If so, did the little icon in the system tray turn green?

actually I do find the whole post mildly amusing - I guess it depends upon your culture & sense of humour. Indeed so can we knock it off please. They do look good & if someone wants to buy them or not then that's their choice not anybody else's. -
I don't believe it - I'm sure that you'll find something that needs tinkering
-
Originally it was meant to be using the IL-2 game engine. If they are no longer using that what are they using, have they developed their own?

Which product to buy...?
BUFF replied to ShrikeHawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
FE probably has a better tweaked game engine for props at the moment than the others but eventually the others will get the same via patches.
