  5. File Name: F-4J_Sp3 File Submitter: BUFF File Submitted: 11 Nov 2004 File Updated: 14 Nov 2004 File Category: SF Add-On Aircraft Official F-4J addon updated for Sp3. This add-on contains all the components necessary to play the "J" model Phantom II used by the US Navy and US Marine Corps. It includes new external 3d model, 3d virtual cockpit model, hangar screen, a new loading screen, and several dog-fighting single mission files. F-4J Phantom II, built between 1966 and 1972, is the second and the final version of the Phantom to be produced for the Navy and Marine Corps. It was designed to replace the original F-4B model, and it incorporates many of the lessons learned from years of fleet service and combat experience over Southeast Asia. The F-4J is powered by more powerful J79-GE-10 engines, rated at an afterburning thrust of 17,900 pounds each. Its approach speed is decreased from 157 mph to 144 mph by introduction of slotted stabilator and "drooped" ailerons, which makes a downward deflection of 16.5 degrees the "neutral" aileron deflection when the flaps are deployed. Externally, F-4J model is distinguishable from F-4B model by its lack of nose chin pod, which used to house the infrared search and tracking device in the B model. F-4Js were used extensively by the US Navy and Marine Corps in the last stages of the Vietnam War. On May 10, 1972, Lt Randall H. "Duke" Cunningham and Lt(jg) William P. Driscoll of VF-96 Fighting Falcons, flying F-4J Phantom II with radio callsign "Showtime 100," shot down three MiGs in less than 6 minutes to become the first American aces over Vietnam. They were also the first F-4 aces, and first to make all their kills with air-to-air missiles. Click here to download this file
  6. & is it wrong of the developer to go with a more relaxed flight model if he reckons that will sell more copies/be more profitable than a hyper realistic niche sim? TK obviously has a vision of what he believes will sell in the marketplace (which seems to be working so far) & can get a return on investment. I very much doubt that if TK doubled his budget to improve the games as you want that he would sell twice as many copies. We may not like it but at the end of the day it's about money & not realism - even Oleg Maddox has said that Il-2 etc. wasn't very profitable for him/his team (Ubisoft may well be another story ...). If it's profitable we get improvements added over time, if it isn't we get nada in the future. btw I'm told by those that have delved that the FM takes a lot of factors into account & is very accurate if so tweaked.
  7. What I don't understand is how few of them get the idea that they can change all that in this series to be absolutely authentic If they have better research materials than TK, fine let him know & he'll take note of it.
  8. VAC

    1st post & you're promoting a software package? We'll be watching ...
  9. ever thought of looking in CombatACE Forum > Downloads > Thirdwire Series (SF/WOV/WOE/WWI) > SF Add-On Aircraft > Modern Era Aircraft ?
  10. iirc the payload for an F-105 was up to 14,000lbs so probably not 5 Mk. 118s.
  11. iirc jettison drops tanks & mud-moving weapons but not AAMs.
  12. http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...s&showcat=6 works for me ... Bare in mind that LOMAC isn't designed to allow addons like e.g. the Third Wires series.
  13. Wow, this came out of nowhere ... Long awaited birds.
  14. Maybe even today? http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...p;showfile=3529
  15. Ahoy, from Navy Chief

Howdy, Chief :) yeah, I was thinking about Beer recently too - last I heard he was doing his Master's certificate so I guess that he's busy.

  17. I can't move the thread there, you need to go to http://forum.combatace.com/index.php?autom...q=submit&c=, select the SF Mig Skins category & upload the file. If you still have trouble please let us know as if people don't tell us that there is a problem we may not know. If all else fails I can upload the file for you but I would rather that you be able to do it.

  19. this one should be in the shops in a few weeks though (at least in Europe) ...
  20. assuming that you have sought & gained permission from Sundowner to use his base why don't you upload this into the Downloads section?
  21. Are they still testing it? That was their entry for the JSF/F-35 but it lost out to the Lockheed proposal.
  22. Third Wire is the game developer. GMX, Bold Games etc. are the publishers. & yes, radar etc. are simpler than in LOMAC or Falcon4. There will shortly also be a WWI sim released using the same game engine from Third Wire. Why don't you install WOV, fully patch it, play it like that for a while to get the hang of the controls etc. & then you can start modding it with extra aircraft, weapons, terrains, campaigns etc. etc.?
  23. & pre-orders for Third Wire's have started popping up e.g. http://play.com/Games/PC/4-/3250869/First_...18/Product.html
