Pacth 1.2 Does Not Work On Spanish Release
BUFF replied to HR_Ciberputa's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Unfortunately I don't speak Spanish but I do know that things are happening to resolve this for you. -
Patch 2 And Gun/weapon Editors
BUFF replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
1) you need to be using the latest version of the editors (available here at biohaz) 2) there is a weapons pack released, the idea of which is that most folk won't have to play around with the editors anymore. This is planned to be updated on something like a fortnightly or monthly basis. -
The Hebee Gebees

In the F5 view it will stop jitter if you either 1) release the brakes 2) move throttle above 0% It only happens (at least for me) with the combination of brakes on & 0% throttle. Alternatively use F6 view. -
Patch 2 Is Out!!!!!!!

People were told months ago that there was a new gfx engine - not sure about the MP. -
Yep, I've got a 19" iiyama 454 Pro - sounds like we both have Mitsubishi tubes as I've got that 3 brightness settings too. Now try LOMAC at 1600x1200 or higher B)

No Anti Alias With Sf And 9600 Xt
BUFF replied to squid's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Have a look in the forums at www.rage3d.com but for starters Madden 2004, Raven Shield, apparently there are some issues with Il2.... also see http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?threadid=33705231 -
Hey Beer, Just to let you know that NF7-S V2.0 no.2 came up even easier than no.1 (familiarity, I guess) :D Next step is to strip down no.1, slap in the XP2500+ & overclock that sucker! Hoping for some good results. B) This is no.1 XP1700+@200x11, 9700 non-Pro at 325/310 Omega 3.10's

Sf-p1 And Ati Radeon 9600 Pro
BUFF replied to Firehawk's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Unfortunately some people seem to get stutters on ATI with SF P1. I run a 9500 Pro & a 9700 Pro & never have - go figure. Anyway, you should see improved image quality with the ATI & in particular you can run higher levels of FSAA etc. without the same level of slowdown as with the GF2. As for the corrupted RWR, download Radlinker & turn off TCL. Oh, & turning off shadows & mirrors helps speed up too. -
Hi Beer, Well, I've just bought my 2nd NF7-S V2.0! Hopefully this 1 will be as good as the other is. 1st time that I will be running 2 of the same board at once.

What gfx card are you using? If you mean who made the default skin for the F86 I think that it was DanW. -

What exactly is your problem installing? -
It certainly makes it easier to reformat & reinstall your OS if all your data is in its own partition.

Well, I ordered mine today B) - hope that it's all it's cracked up to be.

My preferred browser is Opera 7, too (for speed so text is fine). The column alignments are definitely not right in Opera.

All other things being equal, an AMD system running at the same clockspeed as an Intel one should be faster. However, the max. clockspeed of a P4 is a lot higher than an Athlon so usually you aren't comparing systems of the same clockspeed. Because of the different cpu revisions, chipsets etc. it is easier to deal in specific comparisons - if you have something in mind fire away.

Prep Time! The Wait Is Almost Over For Me!
BUFF replied to tc223's topic in Digital Combat Simulator Series General Discussion
They've had to reprint a section & it will be delayed a few days. -
Oh well, as no one else has jumped in.. Less cache & slower FSB - essentially a castrated P4. Different manufacturer with a different processor design. Similarly, AMD's Duron is an emasculated Athlon but not quite to the same extent as the Celeron from the P4. I very much doubt that a Celeron 1.6 will run it as well as a 1.6 P4 although it would probably run it. When comparing between AMD & Intel you have to watch out because of the different processor architecture. Tthe AMD design does more instructions per clock cycle than the Intel. As such an AMD cpu needs fewer clock cycles to perform the same operations as an Intel & consequently can run slower for the same performance. So e.g. an Athlon running at 1.6GHz would outperform a P4 running at 1.6GHz. Also, traditionally the different designs have had different strong points - AMD being better for pure calculation, gaming & office work whereas the P4 is better for multimedia creation/video editing etc. That's a quick & dirty as there have been so many Athlon & Pentium revisions that it can get quite complicated comparing them.

Hi guys, Last time I looked there were getting on for 60 million people in the UK & there were 100,000 at the demonstration - not exactly a large %. Of those 100,000 not all were British (I suspect that quite a large % weren't), just for example there were some U.S. citizens demonstrating too. & Bush has something like a 46% disapproval rating at home anyway ;) Anyway, we may bitch & moan a little (don't all friends?) but we are always there when needed. Would you really rather have friends who you bought rather than because of common ethics/goals etc.?

But they do more instructions per cycle to compensate . Intel is going to have the same problem promoting its next generation - clockspeed wise they won't be any faster than the current range. Traditionally, they have both had different areas where they were stronger - AMD better at pure calculation /office whereas Intel better for video etc. Up until Intel introduced the C core with 800FSB it was neck & neck, perhaps even AMD nudging ahead. Since then Intel has been in front, however the new AMD64's seem to be blowing P4's away although they are currently dear. You can get a 9800 non Pro (don't get an SE) for $263 - its clockspeeds are the same as a 9700 Pro but has the improved GPU & will probably overclock more than the 9700 Pro. (my original suggestion was $172 & if we are overclocking the fact that its an XP2500 makes no difference. Also, check if that XP2600 is a Thoroughbred or Barton (better) core.) I wouldn't get an A7V8X series, an A7V600 maybe, but ideally you want an nForce2 based board which on ASUS means A7N8X series. The A7N8X-X doen't have dual channel, the A7N8X has dual channel & basic features with the A7N8X DeLuxe adding firewire/SATA RAID & a very good onboard sound solution. If you get an A7N8X or A7N8X DeLuxe make sure that you get a rev. 2. Yes, it makes a difference which is why when you are overclocking it is better to run a higher FSB & lower multiplier. However, on an Athlon going over 400FSB (which is why I recommend the nForce2 boards) the CPU can't really use the extra bandwidth whereas a P4 can. Hence why Intel regained the lead when they went to 800FSB. Haven't a clue & it will vary card to card, checkout some reviews & the best ATI forums I know of are at Rage3d.com With the rate of change in PC technology there is always something better just around the corner. You should be aware that the Athlon XP & the current P4 are at the end of their development lives. Although they will be around for a while yet, 32-3400 level will be the highest that we officially see. Their replacements are moving to new sockets & require new boards plus from about Spring'04 there is going to be a move towards a redesign of case/mobo layouts, PCI Express is coming & possibly 64-bit computing for general use. In other words, the next 7-8 months are going to see a lot of fundamental changes. I don't know your current specs & I don't know if you feel that it is currently struggling. What I am saying is that you can upgrade now to a not quite cutting edge system but that will handle everything that you can currently throw at it knowing that the potential for future upgrade is going to be relatively limited or wait until next summer to get onto the bottom rung of the next generation which should give you upgradeability for a few years. Whew! :o

As for Cougar questions, have a look at http://cougar.frugalsworld.com/ CH Pro instead of Cougar? Same kind of money, isn't made of metal & doesn't look as cool but just works.
