  1. Lol Winston I like it .... one day I'll get online definitely assuredly certainly possibly maybe perhaps. I think that covers it. Looks like fun. The Zeps in OFF are easy to fly. It's the departure and arrival that have Hindenburgian overtures of disaster. I have a dream that one day ....
  2. I agree. Myth busted. 54455 works well for me. I would make it 55555 but Unc would get very cross with me that's him over there
  3. Nice find Olham. Is there anything so majestic as a bird of prey ? Magnificent. I have an admiration for the Australian Magpie because of their insolence, aggressiveness, attacking spirit and intelligence. They don't take crap from anything basically and they also love to take time out to zoom and boom with their mates for a bit of play time. They are strong flyers with a perfect shape and wing span for efficient flying and they revel in it ! Often, they'll just attack some other creature (not necessarily another bird) for the fun of it. Doesn't have to be nesting time. I've been feeding 3 young Magpie chicks over the last 8 months with full co-operation from their parents and each have their own individual traits. The father in particular is very bold and just flies through the window, walks cockily around the place like he owns it until I give him a bit of cheese (they love it). Hand-feeding them as I do I see they have a little raptor hook on their beak so I guess they're related to the bigger birds of prey, and likewise have those intense forward set eyes that look directly at you. This vid is Attack of the Killer Magpie. Similar vids have been shown here before I think also showing their bold nature. And I admire them greatly for it.
  4. A New Appreciation for OFF

No need to shout I hear ya Unc ! I could be wrong but wasn't it just a dual boot with mac and windows so discerning mac users could have the opportunity to at last experience spectacular windows based titles such as OFF ?
  5. Well generally speaking, it's legalised extortion to maximise profits whilst minimising services and using every dirty low down trick in the book not to pay out fully on valid claims. It's about time they were reeled in.
  6. What was your Fun Car?

It was second nature. Fortuitously, Sydney is a particularly hilly city. We actually called them clutch starts not hill starts so I'm glad you picked up what I really meant. I remember asking people if they'd like a lift home after a long night at the pub which was always gleefully accepted only to find there was a catch once inside the car ..... {"damn why won't this car start ? ... sorry folks"} they'd need to get out and push in order for me to clutch start it. Worked for a while until word got around and they wised up. Of course this was in the 70's when it wasn't illegal to drink drive in Australia. I think it was 1983 when the law was brought in. At that point life changed forever for anyone with an active social life, a fondness for beer and wheels.
  7. What was your Fun Car?

Well I had this for that. My first car ... a 1966 MKII Ford Cortina sporty 2 door 4 speed manual coupe with light metallic blue finish. Memorable for its 2 foot long curved gearstick, whitewall tyres, sleek lines and passion for hill starts. If one didn't have a convenient hill one just didn't go anywhere that day old chap. But geez once all 4 cylinders fired watch out .... Not only was I, all of a sudden and unsurprisingly, a chick magnet but I was also as happy as the paid to be happy people in the photograph ..... and then the engine seized again ! With the chick in the car. Memories.
  8. What was your Fun Car?

That's not an automobile. Now this is an automobile ! Innovative and stylish yes. Like riding on a cushion of air. Even makes the grafitti look good ....
  9. This may be of interest to some. A new Aussie WW1 film about the underground miner's exploits in their effort to win the war. Local release date 15th April 2010. http://www.beneathhill60.com.au/ http://www.beneathhill60.com.au/intro.htm
  10. Very true Rabu. It's sickeningly obscene. It is government sanctioned gambling without regulation and all western govt's jumped on the bandwagon floating public assets for short term gain. Gee that worked well didn't it. Let's increase profits by reducing services and not spending one cent on infrastructure and maintenance. Just look at Qantas today. It's lucky no-one has been killed yet but they've had some very close calls. No longer can Qantas be called the safest airline in the world. I reckon it all started going pear-shaped around 1987 when the movie Wall Street came out with the tagline "greed is good" and how the public seemed to jump on that as a good thing Like it's fine to screw everybody, have no moral fortitude, worship the dollar and trample over anyone that gets in the way. I was appalled at that attitude and that to me was the beginning of a general slide downwards in common courtesy, respect and a sense of community. This has turned out to be an interesting topic. Sometimes it's good to vent. Thanks Olham !
  11. Setting achievable goals. Saving. Discipline. And even OMG ..... going without. These are not fashionable. Too old school. People seem to just want it all right here right now without any effort or discipline or planning. They think it is their right. What a load of bollocks. No wonder the world's in a mess. The masses have been conned but oh so stupid for falling for the fairytale. Greenspan. What a jerk.
  12. In all countries there are greedy mega-maniacal bastards with classic psychopathic tendencies. Australia spat out such a person in Rupert Murdoch who runs the American media these days ... and by default, the world. He was an ahole before he left Australia in his quest for psychopathic world domination, control and obscene wealth. His method, as you describe, dumbs down the population in all worldly things, including politics, and promotes the short attention span whilst spinning his particular right wing bias. Entertaining it is not. The fact that a large proportion of people believe his s**te and agendas verbatim without thoughtful debate shows what we have largely become. The most arrogant, thoughtless, mindless, selfish, greedy, self-obsessed, idiotic creatures on the planet (OFF devs excluded of course).
  13. The Lone Wolf

My contribution to high class literature .... There once was an RFC stunt Where the chap in the kite did a bunt The top wing blew off from water logged cloth And they called him a luckless old chap I'm still working on the last bit ....
  14. The Lone Wolf

Hmmmm .... doesn't come up too flash in Chinese and I think there's some dialect issues particularly in paragraph 5. Maybe it's the illudium generator or the vortex inhibitor ? Olham I do like your poem really. Just having a bit of fun with the useless translator thing. But I'm done now.
  15. OFF-time

Blimey you have been ripped off there vB ! To be honest I haven't timed any missions to see if it adds up but they always seem reasonably correct. But I can't back that up with statistics. Because it's not a big deal for me now. But gosh, back in the day when PII (yes PII folks not PIII) was released I remember spending an entire weekend getting the 17 hr goal up in the DH2. I think I was the first to do it for PII. That was fun with a litle bit of obsessive compulsive insanity thrown in. The timing was good then (cause I obsessively compulsively checked it) but warp didn't count so you had to fly every mission the long way. Auto pilot was good for that but Unc always called me a dirty low down cheating son of a soandso for using it . Bloody hell yeah shocked me too ! The warp function now adds the time (by popular demand) but methinks that's what's screwed up the calculations.
  16. Aircraft Population

Nice job Rickity. She's a beaut that Sopwith 1 & 1/2 Strutter ! First RFC bus with a synchronised vickers, variable tailplane (trim), air brakes and scarff ring mounting for the rear gunner. Not a bad kite at all.
  17. Now Mahlo if I can just take your mind off the Albatros for one minute, read up about Hugo Junkers. Now he was innovative ! Junkers 1915 all metal cantilever monoplane. What might have been had he been able to sell himself like that artful dodger Fokker.
  18. The Lone Wolf

I think it sounds pretty good in German. I couldn't get it to rhyme but .... Ich habe sie hatten es hier mit blutigen diese dumme Sache und ich werde es nicht mehr dauern unt können die Flöhe von tausend Kamelen befallen den Achseln !! But I digress ....
  19. British Eh

Well sometimes you just get lucky ....
  20. How Synchronizing Gear Works

Well I was okay with it until it was pointed out that Illudium not Dutronium is the primary catalyst in the modulator. I can't see how that works
  21. How Synchronizing Gear Works

Thanks Dej. That's what was confusing me. Now it makes sense
  22. Imaginary Grief

The time for reflection is over Mike ! It's now time for revenge .... 1) Go to the mess, get embarrassingly squiffy, have a larf and a joke and regale all and sundry with ribald and humourous accounts of Lieutenant Webb's adventures whilst spruiking his finer qualities as a pilot and gentleman. Don't mention his sister. 2) Fall asleep at the bar. 3) Wake up at dawn, dishevelled and spoiling for a fight. 4) Hunt the bastard down. Disclaimer: Any resemblence to characters or storyline that may be associated with Dawn Patrol is purely coincidental and unintended. Honest.
  23. OFF-time

Me neither ! I've never noticed times out of whack as much as vB or Olham have reported There's obviously something seriously wrong with their installs
  24. SR is indeed an engossing read. Here's a few more .... No Parachute - Arthur Gould Lee Into the Blue - Norman Macmillan MvR - The True Story - It was Sergeant Cedric Popkin ! - W. J. Snowy Evans Biggles of the Camel Squadron - W.E. Johns
  25. £1m Question for The OBD skinners

You're spookin' me out Otto.... WAAAAA JESUS ! What was that ?
