No Flying For A While, Pranged My Kite !
catch replied to RAF_Louvert's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Damn bad show RAFL. I tried to recover data from a dead drive once. Failed at a most inopportune moment. But it was to no avail. It seems smashing it with a hammer and throwing the remains against a concrete wall had some negative effect on the data retrieval process. Who'dathunk it I wish they'd tell us these things when we buy 'em ! -
Hmmmm no I don't think so. Some of those hot rod hun kites with half the engine block exposed with pipes and God knows what else above the cowling must have impaired direct forward visibility. Take the Albatros .... no offence Mahlo .... a beautiful sleek aerodynamic design .... but then they plonk half the engine outside the bodywork ruining the whole effect visibly and aerodynamically. It's a real drag. Now the Parasol .... there's an aircraft No uncontained giblets there ! And great downward visibility.

A great but ultimately sad pic UKWM ! Dated Dec 1918. A graveyard ... such a waste

If you could go back in time, would you?
catch replied to appraiserfl's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Yes indeed my favourite era of any time in history past, present or future . It was a bit like Ultralighting in Australia in the mid to late 70's .... no rules and regs like the industry it has become today ... and any paddock would do. Real seat of the pants stuff. Of course, in the pioneering days they were doing it for the first time. An amazing period indeed. -
Anti-Ubisoft DRM petition to sign
catch replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Thank God they released the CFS3 DVD (complete with no disc crack ) before they about faced and went all DRMmy ! Luckily it's only a boring sub game. Who cares lol -
Precisely VP. You also have to be connected to the mothership to install it. You have to be connected to the mothership to load it. Once loaded you can disconnect for single player missions then reconnect when you want to play another one. Why bother. OFF can be installed without being connected to a mothership. OFF can be loaded without connection to a mothership. OFF doesn't require re-connecting for the next mission. OFF is pure standalone. No connection required at all. And as an exclusive single player, that is what I expect when a dev tells me they're making single player offline. But Neoqb has come up with a half arsed compromise to attempt to please the punters whilst retaining strict DRM.

I would go back in an instant but only if I was a rich playboy who dabbled in aircraft testing and designing. I'd give the war a miss though. I'm far too an important playboy. I might get killed ! It's the planes I love anyway not the war. -
Shame on you for belittling women. They are gorgeous and deserve our utmost respect and dignity regardless of their thought processes. After all, when I meet my maker I don't want her to have the schitts Just hope I don't pick a bad time

ALARM! ALL NVIDIA GRAPHICS CARD USERS!
catch replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I'd like to personally thank all the beta testers out there who can't help themselves and must have it, and must have it now, whatever it may be. Never was so much owed to so many by so many .... -
That is one superb video Jammer. Fantastic imagery and glorious editing. Shows OFF quite well dontcha think 5 stars

That's what it's all about Otto. For many years I thought I was alone in my fascination with early aviation. None of my friends was remotely interested. And thus my interest lay dormant, seething and bubbling with frustrated discontent, waiting patiently with intent for the first opportune moment to arise Phoenix-like from the ashes. And so it did. I love these old planes.

Whoa Olham please contain yourself. This lovely lass is more in toon with the period .... And this is just sexy ....

Wings of Prey half price on Steam
catch replied to UK_Widowmaker's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I feel your pain Siggi. I hate this DRM stuff too. Unfortunately pirating ain't ever going away (God bless their black hearts) so I expect this kind of DRM to flourish. Hopefully there will be some sort of less intrusive compromise in the future. Who knows a form of DRM may even be applied to P4 {shudder} ? So I reckon we're stuck with it unless we can round up all the danged pirates and herd them into a corral for behavioural reassignment. -
17 hour life expectancy? Not for the German pilots
catch replied to Olham's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
Word of the day is "pampered". Perhaps a poor choice but the meaning was meant to convey the German fliers had it easier in general when compared with the Allied flyers for the best part of the war. Things changed drastically in 1918 of course and Germany became a shambles where all notions of quality in manufacturing, materials and flight training went out the window from 4 years of constant allied attrition. By then it was far too late for Germany (who had one last hurrah in March using freed up troops from the Russian front for a major push ... but failed) which had effectively lost the war yet arrogantly hung on until the armistice was negotiated thus killing a few more million people on both sides. This despite knowing the yanks were coming to bolster up the allied reserves even more. I don't know if that's arrogance or stupidity actually. I don't have issue with anyone's comments. It's free world here {when OvS isn't watching lol} and we are all free to discuss our personal opinions on the Great War. -
I'm still trying to figure out what "ID this Wappen" means lol

Right It's too easy with hindsight to criticize. -

Precisely Polovski. And as a result, I have far more regard for the Allied pilots and aces who did it very tough in comparison with the pampered (and may I add perhaps a touch too arrogant) German air force that didn't believe the unbelievable could happen. Their loss. -
The X was the Y of its day...

I woud opt for the Camel = Hurri and Se5a = Spitty myself. The Camel was a slowish but well armed workdog, the Se a spirited, fast and robust thoroughbred. -
I like this idea if it's possible. One does get attached to one's wingman although they all look the bleedin' same to me with their kit on ! But thank God they're willing to take a bullet to save my life which is the main thing. I'd also like to know more about their "missing" status. I'm convinced it's that bloody madamoiselle whatsits with the big front along the Rue de la Colonade that has their attention. But I can't prove it.

Damage Model Discussion--HPW Campaign DM released!
catch replied to Herr Prop-Wasche's topic in WOFF UE/PE - General Discussion
I'd like to see the enemy pilot and/or observer slump down when mortally wounded. I understand it may not be possible with the cfs3 engine but it would be nice to remove Charlton Heston's El Cid's from the skies. -
Oh man all of a sudden I feel so tired
