  1. Football 0 Rugby 1

Well yes I guess so Unc. But the chance of a wardrobe malfunction is greater
  2. For the Devs/OBD team

Well Pol if you ever need a hand actor for P4 I'm there ! I've been watching closely the hand signals in The Blue Max and I reckon I've got 'em down pat now. I'm prepared to waive the (very reasonable) fee such is my enthusiasm for the upcoming P4
  3. Football 0 Rugby 1

I mischievously concur .... but .... it helps to have played Rugby (or Cricket) to understand the game. It's too easy for those who haven't played a sport to criticise it and cry "but it's boring" or "I don't understand". Gimme a break. I played both Rugby and Cricket throughout my childhood/teenagehood. I know what they're about and they are both great team sports. I'm loathe to criticise Soccer or American Football as sports because I've never played them. But the soccer "dives" and the "armour" in US football turns me off.
  4. WWI Dawn Patrol

Au contraire curmudgeonly one, I find Dawn Patrol a charming and enjoyable romp and recommend it. But I would love to get a copy of the earlier 1930 Howard Hawks directed version with Dougie Fairbanks Jnr [hint hint] Ironhat, what's this dawn patrol rendezvous thing all about ?
  5. Get rid of Shrek

Lancashire eh .... Gads it all fits Pol is George Formby ! And he soonds aboot as Sco'ish as Dick Van Dyke sounded cockney me old mucka !
  6. Machine guns

Okay she's a little on the mature side and not really my sort but she does bring the beer ! I think talking down to her about her "poor landing gear" and "hinged axles" and "rough landings" (not all of 'em have landing strips you know) is belittling to all barmaids BH
  7. You're right WDR. The prop disc is not visible in VC unless one sways to the side and then it can be intermittently seen. The devs would have fixed it long ago but it's apparently a CFS3 problem something to do with the generally shorter cowlings of WW1 aircraft over WW2 aircraft if I remember correctly. But props are now solid in outside view
  8. Machine guns

In the case of the Se5a, I believe the reason why it did not have twin vickers was primarily because of reduced performance due to the extra weight. Secondarily some pilots (like Ball) liked the versatility of being able to aim upwards with the wing mounted lewis for those stealth attacks !
  9. BIG mistake!

Geez some guys get all the luck
  10. Scrambles in OFF

That should {usually} only happen if you haven't fully completed the previous mission ie follow all waypoints including landing back at base. But sometimes other glitsches get in the way. I think that's why the devs gave us two new options (we never had these back in the day eh Uncle Al), to advance time or choose an alternate mission as a way of getting around it.
  11. BIG mistake!

Aw shucks CJ don't a cute little kid just make you break out in a grin Look after him well and remember and value his early years. They grow up way too fast and are never that same little kid again. Not keen on Swayze myself but if your misses puts up with you she's gotta be alright in my book hehehe ....
  12. Grounded in D.C. !

Wow OvS that is very cool. Such a magnificent and majestic creature. Beautiful. Now all we have to do is move the Winter Olympics from that dry barren drought ridden Vancouver to Washington DC
  13. Claim forms

Jesus ! Keep it down Pol You'll be giving them ideas
  14. AI Aircraft

Pol .... you did tighten the chains didn't you ? He IS in your basement isn't he ? OMG ! it finally dawns on the idiot ... {gulp} .... I'm moving to the wilds of Tasmania. Can anyone provide me with a map of Tassie ?
  15. AI Aircraft

But Bandy, We could not possibly unleash such a force on the world. There would be carnage. Fear not, he is safely chained. Better to control the beast here in a safe environment
  16. Scrambles in OFF

I like them for a blast of adrenalin. The very second I hit the airfield (index finger of left hand already hovering over the E key) I start the engine and push full throttle and take off without waiting for anyone. (sometime the engine sounds take a while to catch up but who cares, I'm close to getting off the ground by that stage). I don't even look where the EA are at this point. Once in the air jag around as much as possible, do anything but fly straight until you get a bearing on where the EA are. Then hit the A key to get your wingies focussed I can't remember ever having been hit while taking off or shortly thereafter. Getting into the air with haste is the essential bit imo. If they're bombers up high, you can relax and give chase.
  17. Go to controls and scroll down until you get to a command that indicates something like "default forward view". Sorry, I can't remember exactly what it's called. Then you bind this command to a joystick button. Simple as that. Back, way back in the olden times, before I got trackir I used the hatswitch to look around and various other keys mapped to left, right, in, out, up, down views with some considerable success so it's not as bad as some make out once you get used to it. Let's just call it multi-tasking. However, having tasted trackir, I would never look back
  18. Generally speaking, only engage if the EA (or unknowns) become a threat to your flight or the recon/bombers you are charted to protect. Which means keeping your eyes peeled. One cannot adequately cover all other possible eventualities and opportunities without compromising your mission goals so best to stick purely to your set goals. That's my tip.
  19. Two-seaters and P4

My suggestion. Artillery ranging ... where the observer notes where shells are falling visually on a specified objective and directs the gunners until the desired object is ranged and consequently given a hell of a thrashing. The means of communication was either morse code, visual indicators near the friendly battery, scrawled messages dropped from the observer ... and I guess wireless in the latter stages of the war. I don't know if this is possible in OFF but it would be cool to have a set enemy ground objective at the beginning of the mission, fly to and liaise with the friendly artillery battery and then watch where their shells hit in relation to the objective and if inaccurate, guide them with basic instructions such as left, right, forward, back until ranging was done and utter destruction was assured. It's all there in Sagittarius Rising. But again, I don't know if such commands are possible in OFF.
  20. Nice one Mahlo. Now if only we could get Pol and Winding Man to model all these crates, buses and kites into OFF ? Piece o' cake
  21. Discussion on Flak

What's that young man ? Eh ? Wot ! I SAY, WOULD YOU MIND ENUNCIATING CLEARLY INTO THESE TUBES
  22. TrackIr 5 software

No problems here. I use T5 s/w with T4 h/w on XP-32. Fires up everytime I hit the airfield. I like the T5 s/w as it gives a greater arc of head movement than T4 imo and appears to be smoother. I don't use tailored profiles for OFF or anything else. The T5 default works fine for me.
  23. Well you don't see many Dolphins around campfires I'll admit. Was there word from the devs that the Dolphin is kaputt ? That would be a shame.
  24. Well I reckon those hun gunners protecting the gasbags are just way too schnapp happy. I'll taunt them above 2000 feet with wing-overs, barrell-rolls and side-slip's incurring height and speed changes whilst cocking a snoot in their general direction until they shoot their own chaps down, the silly blighters . And not a shot fired from the fancy pants cove doing stunts. I would hope the Allied gunners are a little more professional lol.
  25. ATI or Nvidea

Unless things have changed with the latest ATI's (?), Nvidia allows reflective glass for the cockpit gauges and land/skyscape images in the rearview mirrors (on kites that have 'em). For atmosphere rather than practicality. But still cool.
