  1. What? A Rick Rawlings Challenge?

Lol he looks like George Raft who I understand was similarly gifted in a variety of nefarious activities.
  2. What? A Rick Rawlings Challenge?

Lol I was only thinking about it and then PRESTO! I'm in. Just like that. On the list. Confirmed. Twice apparently! Me and my big mouth. Has this Rawlings character always been like this?
  3. London Scenery

My log book records 4.8 hours in the Be2c over a 2 week period beginning 1st Feb 1915 at Suttons Farm. It may not seem a lot but I was desperate to get away from Capt. Triggers. The front seemed much safer. So ....
  4. Nah, as he's obviously freezing to death in the DH2 cockpit, he's probably thinking of the nice, warm fire in the Officers Mess.
  5. What? A Rick Rawlings Challenge?

The sad tale of catch getting shanghaied! Press-ganged into service! "Take your hands off me you cad! Don't you know who I am?" [struggles to no avail, hair sexily tousled, biceps bulging] "Mummy!" [breaks down and sobs] ================================================================================================================================================== I can guarantee if anyone posts to say, for instance, no, can't do it, Rick would accept that as signing up! I like your MO man. Effective. Looks like I'm in.
  6. I am in a Be2c (early), arty spotting in beastly weather keeping a keen eye on the Mark IV.A 8 day RFC issue cockpit clock in order to estimate when this ghastly sortie may at last turn for home and a stiff gin and runny, military grade egg banjoe. Anyway, our mission took off at 12 noon sharp. The clocks' minute hand moved as it should but the hour hand remained resolutely unmoved on 12 during the passage of time as the images below illustrate. It's a small thing but I should think reasonable easy to fix yeah? I have no idea if other crates are similarly afflicted? Anyone else notice this?
  7. What? A Rick Rawlings Challenge?

Hmmm I wonder. Should I ? I did like the video.
  8. Thanks Becker. I'll give that a shot. So then we can't actually move the "Z" info around the screen to a more suitable position? I seem to recall we could once with something on screen but I can't remember what or if it was the Z stuff? A long, long time ago I can still remember how that music used to make me smile .... but other things just fade away ....
  9. Looks like it doesn't but that's not a problem for me. If it was I think Pol might think we're an overly pedantic bunch lol. Okay thanks Pol. Speaking of the Z key, can you move the info around on screen? In cockpit view, I can't make out the FPS count due to the googles darkening effect around the edges.
  10. Mmmm egg banjoes. Nowt better lad .... BH&H II is indeed beautiful Trooper. I keep looking at the scenery awed by what Winder has done. Not to mention what Pol's done of course. It was worth the 15 year wait.
  11. OMG! Here too! I'm finding it hard to contain myself mister!. This should be classified "R". Children, avert thy eyes.
  12. Hello

Beanie old bean! I think you'll like BH&H II. It's really rather good.
  13. Name this aeroplane...

I should think that an aircraft wot shoots holes in the engine cowling lacks a certain panache as a fighting aeroplane. It looks to me that Biggles is the test pilot. Showing off as usual ....
  14. Hi

Lovely pics blokes. Is not the Nieuport Bebe the cutest crate ever made? No need to answer. Of course it is. Adger, there can never be enough sunset/sunrise images (this is not open for discussion, it's just a fact) but especially when it concerns the quaintly lovable Be2. One can almost see the Se5 bloodline in there. I'm still driving the Be2c (early) in which the (un)blinkin' madman in the for'ard cockpit wrestles with a Lee-Enfield. I'm not at all confident that this arrangement will suffice in instances of aerial attack from a hostile aircraft. I note your observer is armed with a mounted machine gun (Lewis?). I like this arrangement better. I'll seek an upgrade through the proper channels.
  15. Hi

You haven't met Capt. Triggers then.
  16. The force feedback is great (maybe too intense) when taking off/landing, shooting machine guns, crashing etc but there is no resistance or force feedback to stick/rudder movements in flight. It's like a wet noodle. Do those of you with the MSFFB2 have the same experience? If so, any way around this?
  17. That is a great suggestion driver. The form up time after take off has been reduced in the latest patch so this would be welcome in the next one! That should be in a day or two.
  18. This is not a biggie but I guess it should be documented in the wish list. It is of the pilot who casts no shadow .... Cockpit view .... no pilot shadow. Outside view .... pilot shadow.
  19. Nice one Trooper. I've seen bits of it before in WOFF I think. But one can never have enough original clips of WW1 can one? The DII is a magnificent beast. Some say the peak of Albatros design, after which the sesquiplane configuration produced it's own problems. I like the three chaps having a smoke and a laugh. Probably about Fraulein Helga and her boudoir tricks. Remembering of course, that in those days you were allowed to smoke and laugh at the same time.
  20. Well, as they say, once you get trackir you'll never look back.
  21. Admittedly I haven't tested this much (well, only once actually) but at the start of my first sortie (arty spotting in the Quirk, me as the new chap fresh from Suttons Farm) our flight seemed a little confused following the (unedited) TAC waypoints. We head off okay but then kind of wander around aimlessly apparently oblivious to the waypoints. Is this a height gaining mechanism or ....? Anyway, being an impatient hero chap, I didn't hang around to find out just wanting to get to the action so I hit shift-w until the waypoint headed toward the front. Than all was ok Anyone else experiencing this? Is this just the way it is or did my impatience thwart the outcome?
  22. It's those crazy unblinking eyes. Gives me the creeps. It's like this, see. My observer, a certain Capt. Matt Mazzini, never blinks. He wins the blinkin' stare off competition every bleedin' time! Positioned as he is, in the for'ard cockpit of the Quirk, I cannot avoid his unblinking stare let alone compete with it and am forced to look away under the pretence of adjusting the mixture or some other engine function. His eyes bore into me like a .303 slug. It's relentless. It's got to the point where I cannot fully concentrate on the mission at hand let alone flying the crate. I think I'm cracking up. I reported this strange behaviour to the CO who just stared back at me unblinkingly in disbelief .... However, he has been relieved of duty as my observer for some other, ahem, unrelated incident. And I was given 48 hours leave by the Doc. So to OBD .... is there a way of animating blinks? For the war effort, to reduce dry eyes, and to save my sanity. Thank you.
  23. As intimated by Trotski from Elbonia, a reasonably accurate representation of photo recon and arty spotting is a must. I know most players want to be romantic and glamorous (which it wasn't) fighter pilots but the fact is the MOST important function aerial services on both sides performed was photo recon/arty spotting. The PBI feared these guys more than anything else for it could result in thousands being shelled out of existence. The single seat fighters were more of a sideshow for amusement as viewed from the trenches. The real unsung heroes were the two-seaters plodding along day after day in horrendous and extremely dangerous conditions. My dream is that successful photo recon or artillery directing actually has a direct bearing on the ground war with all its consequences. This is a difficult proposition of course and probably not the direction OBD want to take, if possible at all? But one can dream ... In the meantime I fly the Be2c under the hypnotic and slightly made gaze of Capt. Triggers preparing to do my duty. When duty calls. I accidently got into the backwash of a sparrow and found myself out of control and on the verge of a spin. And I thought that was impossible in the quirk! I have much to learn.
  24. I know OBD is a small team with some talented modders and researchers helping out and the current list of aircraft is extensive and unparalleled in comparison with any WW1 flight sim I'm familiar with. But, are there any future plans to create new aircraft? is there anyone that models aircraft in the team at present? I'm thinking of the Farman short or long horn and Avro 504 for training and the Sopwith Dolphin and Fokker D8 for late war. A Morane Bullet with deflector plates would also be a nice addition along with the Bristol M.1 for some monoplane love. Oh, and maybe a Handley Page .... Macchi flying boat fighters on the Italian front can wait along with the Hanriot.. Of course I'm extremely happy with the current list and the game itself. Just putting it out there ....
