  3. Just got finished with a mission in the Stinkbug. It's definatly a one trick pony.

  5. PLANE Stupid

IIRC four are supposed to be at Point Mugu for range duties. Those will be the last four operational Vikings in the Navy. I've seen one in NASA livelry too but I'm not sure how many they have or if they are still flying them.
  6. It's in the ODS mod for WOE.
  7. Anyone know if there is a pilot figure out there with JHMCS. The Supers look weird without that little detail.
  8. Forward from the Sea. I've been tinkering around with the baby hornet for a bit and I'm thinking it performs too good. Maybe I'll tone it down a bit so it won't outperform a guns only F-14D off the cat with a full warload.

  10. PLANE Stupid

The Sundown program was initiated back in 2002, at least that was the first I had heard of it. It being an emergency program is less than true. The actual final retirement from squadron service was actually pushed back on at least two occasions that I can remember. The S-3 was still structurally sound with only minor issues popping up every now and then unless something happened in the past two and a half years. The F/A-18 has far more issues than the S-3 ever did. The S-3 was far more manuverable than many of the fighters that came out to play. In Japan, The skipper of VS-21 related a story about how he ended up in the wrong airspace at the wrong time during an exercise. A couple of F-15's came over to check him out they couldnt hang with him in a turn. He ended up losing them in the clouds. She was a great jet to work on and I'll miss seeing her on deck. I worked on the War Hoover for 10 years. VS-41, VS-21 and VS-24. Vamp
  11. I just went out and checked and I was wrong. It is an AN/ALQ-164 pod we have. I thought there was only one type.
  12. The AV-8B has never had an internal jammer so bobrocks Harrier II and II+ is correct. The aircraft is able to carry a centerline AN/ALQ-126C Jammer pod but they are never seen carring them (I've only ever seen one of them and it wasnt on an aircraft). I just use the terrain for masking and it works out fine. Vamp
  13. But it could bring back 4 Phoenixes, 2 Sparrows and 2 winders.
  14. BUMF = Big Unusable McNamara Failure Or for a more realistic assesment... TTMCN = Transfer To Marine Corp Now
  15. Well, they do say black makes you look thinner... I don't think we have enough paint to make this one look like a fighter. Vamp
  16. The B-1 is still a viable platform for the launching of nuclear weapons. From what I have heard from the inspectors from our last START inspection, the treaty will probably not be renewed this year. What does this mean? The B-1 could be refurbished and pick up its nuclear role again. Will the AF do it? Maybe, maybe not. It depends on whether or not they can squeeze another Raptor out of congress for the price of the referbishment. Still looking forward to this bird and as it got a bit quiet about it I figured I would give her a bump. Vamp
  17. Anyone else know if the GBU-28 is in the weapons pack. I believe that is a 3000lb class weapon only carried by the F-111F's and F-15E's. Vamp
  18. I made the comment for those to whom it was not obvious and i did see the humor in it so I stated the obvious to avoid any confusion. Vamp
  19. Yeah, the only thing more unimaginative than Rhino would be to take an official name, change one letter and call it a day. Vamp
  20. It wasn't a malfunction. It was destructive testing which always makes for interesting viewing.
  21. What do you expect from the same people that think the greatest thing to hit naval aviation is the Super Bug. They needed a name to differientiate it from the baby Hornet in the pattern and the F-4 wasn't around anymore... an unimaginative name for an unimaginative aircraft. I can think of a hundred other names to call it but they had to take the nickname of a known cool plane as if the SH could be cool by proxy... They should have left the Rhino moniker with the F-4. Vamp
  22. Close escort of our Marine buddies.

  24. I pass by a pretty decent looking F-111B every day on my way to work. We have two of them that I have seen... the first was decent looking the other... well... not so much. It's presently sitting next to a few F-111D carcasses. Vamp
  25. Outstanding Job guys! I took the OV-10D out for a spin and blew up a bunch of trucks, a ZSU-23, and managed to bag four MiG-23's. It takes quite a few 7.62mm bullets to bring them down. I've been tinkering around with the new planes and actually decided to start a campaign... Its been a while since I've done one of those. Like I said, Outstanding job! Vamp
