Drag Chute Blues
Florian replied to Piecemeal's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
I believe, at the moment we will be unable to add animations to an existing aircraft. The problem is, if you use an animation entry in the aircrafts DATA.ini, the animation would need to be made in 3ds. No luck without the source file. If you make a weapon, you can give it an "release animation", like the Snakeyes have. But there is the problem, if you "release" the drag chute, it would start to fall off the aircraft in the same second. Only way would be, like Fubar said, a new weapon class... -
NEED HELP...MIG-29A
Florian replied to Przybysz's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Isn´t that the motto of all modders? No one will release stuff, when he believe, it´s not ready for that in any way. Maybe some guys should think about that, before..... Oh well this has been discussed that often like the question "when?" comes up. So guys, just wait for your favorite WIP plane and when it´s released you feel like christmas, except this is even better, cause it happens more then only one time in a year. And be honest, what would you prefer? An half mapped, badly animated, cockpitless, ugly model with the Flight Model of a drunken turkey? Or a model, you won´t find anything to complain? So don´t you think we all can just wait a few days, weeks or even month more and get a first class product (EVEN FOR FREE!) instead something you enjoy during the time of the download and then delete it dissapointed? -
Nice pics indeed! What is that device on top of the nose? Looks like a Wire Strike Protection Systems?

Florian replied to vinman72564's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - File Announcements
Dave, maybe it would help if we include this ReadMe into the file? I mean the one with those little red letters... Oh well, they are indeed a bit small, make them double size to make sure! BTW, have you moderating guys ever thought of including an counter on top of the board? Wich counts the topics, where guys are told to make use of the ReadMe? -

Florian replied to Stick's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mission/Campaign Building Discussion
This page does only have one side view of very early Mirage 2000EM. But maybe for other aircraft / countries, it´s a good place to look. WINGS PALETTE Have you ever tried the search function of Airliners.net? You can search by keyword (Mirage) and air force (look at airlines dropdown menu and scroll down). -

Cockpit modelling question
Florian replied to bigal1's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
The cockpit model in 3ds MAX has to be build around the zero point of all axes. This zero point is the place where the game sets your viewing point. So figure out, where the pilots head would be in the cockpit and move the pit to there. Also, have you changed the name of the cockpit model? [CockpitSeat001] ModelName=F-15CPit <--- In this example your exported model would need to be "F-15CPit.LOD" The position line is just to tell the game where your cockpit is, so the game engine knows, what parts of the external model you can see from there. If you are still stuck, feel free to contact me. -

I have never said anything... Sorry Canadier, like you said, the old one was this way... BTW, good thing to upload it, like you did. -

triplethr3at, have you changed the Flightengine.INI the way described in the KB? The model is very heavy in poly count, wich results in CTDs and freezes if you are using the stock Flightengine parameters. If this is not the reason, tell us what happens when you try to fly, so we can encircle the problem. -

Was haltet ihr davon?

Ey, hast du konkret voll krasse Seite gemacht!!!

What Sim Is This?!
Florian replied to Fubar512's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
When you compare this to screenshots some years back from the beginning, you really can hardly believe it´s the same sim. Nice vid indeed! -

Errrhhhh, no. The model itself isn´t changing at all. It´s also just a several-seconds-job to make these two LOD files. The exporter works more like the "Save as" buttons in explorer. You push either the "with decals" button, or the "without decals" one. Then you choose the folder where to save and you´re done. So my thought was, in case someone runs into bleeding decals he could copy the "with decals" LOD and replace the one without to avoid this. Polycount would be the same for both. Edit:I will do this in my next releases and see who follows. -

You are absolutly right, Kevin. This can only be fixed by the modler. There is a pretty easy, but not always working way. The TW exporter tool gives you two options to export the model. One with and one without decals. Most models are in fact exported without decals, as this provides a smaller (in filesize) and more stable LOD model. If you export with decals, all bleeding is eliminated, but you get in danger that the model causes heavy FPS drops/CTDs and other stuff we all enjoy. Depends on how good (in this case, how bad!) the model was built. I just had the idea of making an agreement with all modders to add both LOD versions in future downloads. Would be nice if older mods would get an update, but first lets establish a standard for future mods. What do you think of this? -
Kleines Update.

Is it the 1 + 1 weeks or the 3 - 1 weeks timeframe?
