  1. FYI the press jacked it up as usual and used the nickname 'Daisy Cutter' which is incorrect. I believe the inside nick for it is ' Big BLU', of course ;)
  2. Whew! Finally got my replacement today. Thanks for listening to me whine. I feel a little better after I did this:
  3. Enjoying the show. Now off to get some skins!
  4. This guy should've defected!
  5. .. I open my mailbox and get my freakin gold CD. They sent it six days ago, and since it's coming from Canada, I'm sure it's a temporary dog toy til customs is done with it. :( Anyway, was wondering how long it took you guys to get your Wal-Mart replacement. My trigger finger is itchy. :P Answers to my one impatient question would be much appreciated gentlemen (and I use that term loosely ;) ) Thanks in advance!
  6. Aha! Some encouraging news! Too bad the mail lady didn't even come today. Rain, sleet, or snow my ass! Only got about 3 inches of snow here and no show. I take it Gamespy is probably the best working venue to take for mulitplayer at the moment? I wouldn't mind trying out some co-op after getting some SP under my belt with the patched version. This one's for you Weasel!
  7. No, AGP is a larger slot meant for video cards. PCI is for all cards. So, make sure that your PCI video card is in a slot after you shut down, and after you turn off the onboard video in BIOS. Also, make sure you plug your monitor into the new PCI card before restarting after making adjustments in BIOS. Also note that when you are holding down the Delete key while it is restarting ( to get to BIOS ) - if the Delete key doesn't work, some systems use the Insert key or other general funkiness in the vicinity. I hope the BIOS sections pointed out earlier is for the same BIOS system your motherboard came with. There are a handful of different ones, but if you tool around long enough you can probably figure out where the video enable/disable is.
  8. well, here was the official word. It sounded uplifting at the time. "Thanks, we now have everything we need. Your CD will be mailed out today. Please keep in mind that on top of the usual USPS delays, the package has to cross customs from Canada into the US so delivery may take a bit longer. Thanks again. " LOL - the usual USPS delays. hehe. Sound familiar or not?
  9. Oh. I thought he meant that it was defaulting to his onboard video in SFP1.
  10. Oh no. I hope that is a cruel joke :( It's gonna drive me to drinking. More. edit: Anyone else? I was hoping it would take about a week. I guess that's having way too much faith in the US postal service.
  11. Yeah, I didn't want to get into the BIOS right off, as some mobo cards will let you disable them from windows. I figured, try the easy stuff first. Then go to the next step.
  12. Umm... DK? You do know that he has a vid 'card' integrated on his motherboard right? He'll keep getting those annoying default driver installs for the mobo video if he nukes the vid drivers and restarts. It sounds like his new video card runs fine in windows as is, so a simple disable should do it since the game seems to default to the old one. It could be that simple, I thought it'd be a good 1st try before reinstalling a bunch of stuff ;)
  13. Either ran into the wreckage of the first one, or you better request some more of those Super Duper Sparrows.
  14. actually cowboy, I was thinking it was a smiley face contest for a second. Yeah, that is the only tactic you need to know for any missile avoidance. Keep looking around at all times, as this is your first and best defense. Catching sight of an inbound missile early is a big factor. Once it is really close, turn hard into it, and if you're timing is right (which takes some work) you'll have a good chance of avoiding it. Gotta agree there. I'd prefer losing some altitude too to keep up a little more speed while turning.
  15. Chat time!

I can't let myself drink as much during the weekdays. I'm a binge drinker ya know. ;)
  16. First think to do is go Start->Settings->Control Panel->Device Manager. Double click on display adapters, right click on the vid card that is on your motherboard and hit properties. Click/dropdown and select disable in this configuration/ do not use this device under device usage depending on your windows version. I believe 98 has a checkbox to disable and XP has a dropdown.
  17. Great... I have a Wingman Extreme myself. This does not bode well.
  18. Boom

Holy testicle tuesdays batman! It looks like that Sparrow did some damage on that poor little MiG-21.
  19. Multiplayer?

Seawolf - I'm waiting for the gold version to show up, since I just informed SF last week to send me a new one. That being said, I have a question. What CAN you do in mulitplayer presently?
  20. Don't know what to say... Alt-Tab to try resizing it back? If it's not responding in task manager, then that session has had it.
  21. I've ran the old Wally patched version in the last couple weeks maxed out with P4 2Ghz, 1Gb RDRAM, GF4 Ti4400 - not stutter at all. Hopefully it's not the patch.
  22. At least the FNGs will be out practicing turning inside of SAMs all night.
  23. I still have the Wal-Mart version installed, as I'm waiting on my replacement. Just to check, I tried installing the patch and this is what I got. Did you get it at Wally world?
  24. I finally got around to e-mailing strat first about getting a release CD for my wal-mart version today. I hope they send it soon. On another note, I'd have to say this isn't the first time I've been waiting on Taco Grande to announce a patch release for Strat First, and in the past, his date came and went. Enough naysaying - I'll be quite happy next Tuesday/Wednesday. I'm from Missouri too. Hehe.
