Need A Little Help
Armourdave replied to Mad Mike's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Some addons arent compatible with SP2, 95% are. The reason that your SU-7 was incompatible was because Thirdwire made changes to the position of the model. That's why everything looked out of place. Thanks :) Cheers -
It certainly is. http://www.max-gs.com/adave/vietnam Feel free to drop into the forum. Cheers

Need A Little Help
Armourdave replied to Mad Mike's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
We aren't flying with the pilot sitting on top. The reason is you're using a modified data file that is now in-compatible with Service patch 2. Just delete the 'bad' data files and the game will use it's own. Cheers -
Weapons Pack 2
Armourdave replied to Spectre_USA's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Try it without the gundata.dat and weapons directory in /objects..Same problem. It's an SP2 issue. Cheers -

Download here: http://www.max-gs.com/adave/weaponsdev/fil...ack_07jan04.zip or http://bunyap462.com/resources/sfp1weaponspack_07jan04.zip You must run the INSTALLER supplied in this pack It's named: "INSTALL_NEW_WEAPONS_PACK.bat" Whether you installed the previous weapons pack or not you simply need to double click this file after you have unpacked the zip. Thanks! The readme: --------------------------- Weapons Pack for Strike Fighters Project 1 updated 07 Jan 2004 To install: Unzip the contents of sfp1weaponspack_07Jan04.zip into your Strike Fighters/Objects folder. <<<<< Before you do anything else run the file called "INSTALL_NEW_WEAPONS_PACK.bat". >>>>> This will delete only the files installed by the previous weapons pack and will move the gundata.dat into the objects folder. Su-17m Fitter-c Released!
Armourdave posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Package weighs in at 9.3MB's Features: * Swing-wing animations * Realistic Su-17 cockpit * 3 skinsets (European camoflage, Desert camoflage, bare metal) * Pilot handbook * Custom ordinance loadouts The download links: http://www.wpnssgt.com/downloads/aircraft/Su-17.zip http://www.biohazcentral.com/download.php?view.99 http://www.max-gs.com/adave/su-17.zip Thanks to Jeff, Deuces and WPNSSGT for hosting. The readme: *********************************** Su-17M Fitter-C for Strike Fighters : Project 1 *********************************** build 21-12-2003 Models : David Textures : Sal Flight model : Column5 *********************************** Installation *********************************** To install the Su-17M Fitter-C simply unzip the "Su-17" folder and place it in your "Strikefighters\Objects\Aircraft" directory. Then simply run strike fighters selecting Single Mission and picking the "Su-17M Fitter-C" from the list of flyable aircraft. *********************************** Su-17M Fitter-C introduction & History *********************************** The Su-17 Fitter with its variable sweep wings was developed from the fixed-wing Su-7B. The first public demonstration of it was made in 1969. It was in production for a long time (1970-1990) and many modifications were built. Some of the modifications were Su-17M, Su-17M2, Su-17M3, and the Su-17M4 (low-altitude subsonic bomber), Su-17UM (trainer). It was designed as a fighter-bomber, but it was used mostly as a bomber. The Su-17 remains an effective aircraft with capable avionics and impressive armament. Export versions of this aircraft are designated Su-20 and Su-22. The export versions can be distinguished by a deeper dorsal spine. The wings are mid- to low-mounted (wings are mounted below the center), variable, swept-back, and tapered with blunt tips. There are wide wing roots. There is one turbojet engine in the fuselage and a circular air intake in the nose. There is a large, single exhaust. The fuselage is long and tubular with a blunt nose and rear section. It has a large bubble canopy. There is a prominent dorsal spine on top of the body from the cockpit to the tail fin. The tail is swept-back and has a tapered fin with a square tip. The flats are mid- to low-mounted on the fuselage and swept-back and tapered. *********************************** Known Issues *********************************** * No shadow file - Not worth the effort as few people use shadows * FPS w/old hardware - Uses more texture memory and polys than the standard cockpits (see: "Perfomance troubleshooting") *********************************** Performance troubleshooting *********************************** The Su-17M Fitter-C cockpit simulated in this package contains a larger viewable area than the stock cockpits in Strike Fighters : Project 1. The floor, rudder pedals, side consoles (forward areas atleast) and canopy frame can all be viewed, therefore it is inevitable that the model should require a larger number of polygons and more texture memory in-order to maintain the detail level throughout. The frame-rate decrease depends entirely on the hardware you are running SFP1 on. This Su-17M Fitter-C addon has been tested on a wide range of machines ranging from a P3 850 with a GF2MX right upto a P4 3Ghz with a Radeon 9700. From testing I can conclude the following will help you if you are experiencing frame rate problems: # Run in 16bits per pixel mode. Not pretty I know, but I personally get double the frame rates than 32bit on my GF2MX # Set cockpit texture detail to medium - or - Open each bitmap in the \cockpit folder and set it to 50% width and height then save. # Turn off cockpit mirrors # Turn off cockpit reflections (makes little to no difference on my setup) Overall the frame rate with the Su-17M Fitter-C should only be a 'little' less than the stock aircraft. On my system (GF2MX) 32bit is the killer, with this 16 bit turned on I can fly happily with the mirrors and reflections turned on. On a side note, if there is any demand a "high res upgrade pack" could be assembled containing higher resolution cockpit textures and possibly more of the side panel modelled. *********************************** Aircraft Files *********************************** Authored by David: Su-17.LOD Su-17.ini Su-17_COCKPIT.INI SU-17_LOADOUT.INI Authored by Sal: su-17_bits.bmp su-17_fuse.bmp su-17_nose.bmp su-17_tail.bmp su-17_wing_left.bmp su-17_wing_right.bmp Polish skin painted by me on Sals templates. My Christmas Present To The Community..
Armourdave posted a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
All it took was a hard push over a few long nights, but I've finally given birth to the Su-17. Soon you'll all be able to play with my baby, I'm so kind to you lot I'm even gonna let you play with her 2 days before Christmas. Just have the readme left to write and Don has a few tweaks to make to the flight model but it's done. Just a shame Sal didnt stick around to see it happen. Anyway, hopefully the release will be tomorrow evening or Tuesday morning, then I'm going home.. to get drunk. Cheers -
Hi Mate, Great photo! I like your website, that Leeann Tweeden looks like a sort. ;) Hope things are going ok over there for you and I wish you a merry Christmas. :) Cheers

Phlerp gets everywhere. :D A DLL entry point is what you need. Half Life has one and it allows all manor of creativity and moddability. That's quite true, for some theatres atleast. There would be no way to create a realistic Falklands campaign on the SFP1 engine with the current feature list, but perhaps in the future things will change. ;) Cheers

Armourdave replied to pcpilot's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
In the past 9 months the Fitter has been neglected about as much as the British rail network. With the A-7B, the F-105D & G then the A-7D, then A-7E and now extensive work on the vietnam campaign I've just found the time to complete the Fitter. I'm going to try and finish it over the christmas break. Cheers -
