Does simulation mode remove the damage/cannon and mini-map part of the HUD?
-
Anyone got any ideas for virtual A-7 squads? :) Composite squadron sounds good though.

SU-17 ?
Armourdave replied to DerBayer's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Hey, A fellow Su-17 fan, I think we're the only ones. Would love to see a Su-17 or 22 up close! The model is complete. The cockpit is just having it's finishing touches completed. We're waiting for patch #2 to be released as the 2nd patch will contain changes to the roll rate code. Click the picture in my sig if you want to see more pictures of it! :) Swede made an in-game video of my Su-17. You can download it here. http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?DLID=27491 http://avsim.com/ Also Marcelo has painted these 2 skins that I requested. He he will release them after I release the model and cockpit. http://www.marcfighters.hpg.ig.com.br/ Finally this is a cool site that covers the Su-22's in the East German airforce. http://www.su-22.de/ thanks -
Help with a new Patrol Gunboat
Armourdave replied to a topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
Mean looking boat, for the #1 problem check the axis point is where you want it. If you are not sure about doing that I'll post a screenshot Cheers :) -

I just scale it back to fit then weld the vertices around the edge to get a sharp edge. cheers -
NEW Mig skin for the 21

Nice skin, somehow the Sword fish seems to fit the Mig-21 nicely :) -

Can you guess what I spent my weekend doing? :) I've got it to a point where its flyable in-game and Volksjaeger will soon start painting it. Cheers :) -

Big Pic but purty!
Armourdave replied to Gecko6's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
The vietnam team is actually alright at the moment. What's really killing us is not knowing how to add new objects to the terrain. Cheers. -
frame rates
Armourdave replied to CVGcontroller's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Dont use fraps to display frame rates in P1 as it wont give an accurate read out due to the fact P1 runs two loops, one for graphics and one for CPU. Cheers -
Someone has to start an A-7 squadron! :)

Oh, I'll buy a copy, and then I'll be on EVERY LOMAC forum reporting EVERY little niggle and problem I can see over and over and over and over and over again Seawolf, sound familiar? ;) -
F-105D + F-105G Thud update
Armourdave replied to Armourdave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
When? Around the time we release the vietnam addon. I've been modelling about a year and a half, but like anything, it's the hours you put in and the new things you try that will dictate how long it takes you to become able to make realistic looking models. Lucky son of a bitch Fates :P Someday I'm gonna have to plan a trip to the US just to see a Thud. Looking forward to the rest of the photos. Might want to check a few more photos before stating opinions ;) Cheers :) -

Well yes... From the max exporter docs (if you dont have a copy leave your email address and i'll send one) II. Aircraft Model Specific Notes A. Mesh Hierarchy Aircraft should have meshes for all moving and detachable parts. The hierarchy should be constructed in a logical manner so when one mesh is removed, all parts attached to it would also be removed. The following is a list of sample mesh hierarchy; the exact list would depend on the particular aircraft. I can post screenshots of the button if you cant find it. Cheers :) EDIT: Had to use the code tag, pretty sweet huh :D -

You need to build the hierachy :) If you need some help with that just ask. -
F-105D + F-105G Thud update
Armourdave replied to Armourdave's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - Mods/Skinning Discussion
I have thought about making a G, it's something I'd really like to do. It's all a matter of getting enough effort together to divide up some f-105G blueprints, throw them in max, jig some stuff around and remap the re-jigged parts ;) One will be needed for the vietnam campaign so I guess I'll have to do it at some point :) -

Maybe a dumb question, butt...
Armourdave replied to Purzel's topic in Thirdwire: Strike Fighters 1 Series - General Discussion
Yeah you'd think that looking at the skunkworks page wouldn't you? Just further proof that the skunkworks is no longer a viable aircraft addon group. THE place to download SFP1 addons, aircraft, terrains, sound packs etc etc is right here at biohazcentral. http://www.biohazcentral.com/ Cheers -
lol, ugh well I think I lost my flying goggles and scarf. But anyway ;) It's a vickers FB5, am I wrong? :)

A fire hazard? What'd I win? :P

Agreed, but without a constant flow of new content even the greatest sims get dull. It's a shame because I can think of so many more interesting planes that could operate in the LOMAC environment. Crimea is a real part of the world but it might as well be dhimar for all I care, it's still a fictional conflict. My personal fear is that LOMAC will just be flanker 2.5 with some nice new graphics and some US aircraft. Same terrain area (crimea), same mig and sukhoi flyables (ok they added the rook, that was hacked to be flyable in flanker2.5), same boring scripted campaign, and from what I've heard same flight models. Feature wise, what else is new? Flanker (I've got all incarnations) was my favourite Flightsim for a long time, but its buggy as hell multiplayer and lack of new content killed it off for me. It's awesome at what it does i.e a su-27 flight model simulator, but as a game it's poor. I understand and fully acknowledge the "I dont want UFO's in MP" arguement, but theres always file checkers. It's pretty clear that the developers want to keep control of their software (LOMAC is pretty much the 4th retail version of Flanker) by denying modding, that's a real shame. I cant really see LOMAC replacing F4 SP3 on my HDD as "my modern jet sim". Cheers p.s dont bother flaming/calling me a fanboy etc, I'm not interested in an argument. -
Somewhere in South East Asia.... or not???

I dont want to move away from the topic of this thread too much so I'll keep it short :) : # Rebuilt the nose from scratch with the intention of fixing the slightly too tall canopy frame. # Rebuild the gear doors. # Fix other problems in the mesh. # Completely re-build all animations from scratch. # Completely re-map it from scratch to allow far more detail (Volks will paint the first template) # Retexture areas of the cockpit, mainly the canopy rail. # Add cockpit reflections # Build a shadow Thud V2.0 will be released with Klaatu's highly-improved flight model. Sorry, I tried to keep it short :) Thanks for the compliments :) Cheers
