EA DICE officially announced today Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. The game is expected to be released next Winter. Also in this press release is Battlefield 1943, which will be available this Summer. Both games use the Frostbite engine. Developing a game from a franchise with such a passionate and knowledgeable community can be both a blessing and a curse, and it seems the Cryptic is taking the responsibility very seriously. While they’re trying to remain faithful to the established history and overall theme of the franchise, they’ve also decided to set the game 30 years after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis to avoid having to recreate any of the more familiar timelines that the TV series and films have already covered. Jedi, I completely agree, however iam looking forward to Bad Company 2, it will be modern warfare. This BF43 seems more like a piece offering of some sorts. -

2009 release for follow-up to World At War; Infinity Ward to develop once again The hype is still building for the fifith iteration in the Call Of Duty series, World At War, but Activision’s CEO Bobby Kotick has already confirmed that a sixth game is being lined up for 2009. In an earnings call with investors, Kotick also said that the title would follow the series’ “leapfrog studio strategy” – indicating that development responsibilities would switch back from WoW creator Treyarch to COD4 dev Infinity Ward.
