  1. BFBADCO 2 - STAYING HEALTHY

A quick introduction is in order, since this is my first Battlefield Blog post. I’m Alan Kertz, though many of you already know me as Demize99. As Gameplay Designer on Bad Company 2 it’s my goal to give you insight into the design process on Bad Company 2 and give you the direct inside scoop on all the gameplay details. So what are my Battlefield Credentials? I’ve competed in Battlefield 1942 and Vietnam clan matches alongside being a mapper and a modder. I joined DICE over 3 years ago and since the I’ve worked as a designer on Battlefield 2142 and the original Bad Company. And now it’s my privilege to be developing Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Let’s start off this series of gameplay blog post with some in depth detail on Bad Company 2’s teamplay based health systems. When a soldier really needs to be restored to health fast he turns to his Medic teammates. The Medic is a special breed of soldier, able to fight just as hard as their brothers in arms, but also dedicated healers. They keep their teammates in the fight as long as possible and to bring them back into the fight when they're down. In Bad Company 2 the medic has two tools to use to keep his teammates healthy. The first tool is the Medkit, a portable first aid station that the Medic can deploy to heal the soldiers around him in the middle of combat. The Medkit begins working immediately and keeps working until the medical supplies are depleted. It also works in combat, so a soldier near a Medkit can duck behind cover to quickly heal up and be ready to get back in the fight. Just be careful where you deploy the Medkit, as even enemy soldiers will receive its healing benefits. The second tool is the Defibrillator, also known as the Shock Paddles or the Defib for short. The Medic can use the Defib on his recently incapacitated teammates to bring them immediately back to full fighting strength. The Defib allows the medic to keep his squad and team together and fighting. In a pinch the Defib's electric shock can even be administered to healthy enemy soldiers, instantly incapacitating them. Bad Company 2 introduces a system we call Out of Combat Healing. Like many features in Battlefield it's a reflection of a real soldier's world. Every soldier learns some basic first aid so he can patch himself up and get back into the fight. In Bad Company 2 we represent a soldier's first aid ability via the Out of Combat Heal. A soldier who's been wounded in a fight but survived will slowly heal himself. Out of Combat Healing is a not a fast process. Unlike your Medic teammate it's not going to save you in the middle of a firefight, but it will keep you from bleeding out somewhere alone on the Battlefield. 2. Battlefield 3 Planned for Holiday 2010?

I understand that, however in an way i see it has accountability when he have had none otherwise. I used to be one of those nay sayers on the pay to play, though to a certain degree it is logical in the way o the thief that has gone on, though other games haven't done the pay to play environments and have very models. However DICE hasn't been that great in releases, i wish they would act like that of the COD series and how they can just dish it out.
  3. Battlefield 3 Planned for Holiday 2010?

Nope, Jedi no i haven't heard anything. But get this, there is some little bits in regards to some type of serving, which could indicate an MMO will be BF3. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Battlefield 2In a presentation to investors, Electronic Arts mentioned several of their upcoming plans to expand in the future. Along with announcements of growing profits in spite of crashing financial markets everywhere, the session was open to questions for John Pleasants, Chief Operating Officer at EA, in which several surprises were announced. One such revelation is that DICE are developing Battlefield 3. Currently, no platform information or solid release date has been mentioned, but Pleasants noted that the game is not going to be released "this" financial year, the product slated for release at some point after March 2010. Pleasants who, has seen the game in action at DICE's Sweden offices noted that he was "highly impressed" by the title, while adding that the entire upcoming games in the series "look fantastic" - with an emphasis on moving towards a "gaming service", in a bid to compete with the incredible growth of Call of Duty. Battlefield 2 was a highly successful title from DICE and remains a highly popular game among fans of first person shooters, so it is quite certain that the third instalment in the series will be a hit when it is eventually released. As we learn more about Battlefield 3 we will be sure to let you guys know! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Quote: and moving to a service model Holy... Scary thought... BF3 is to be a subscription based MMO (trying to tie in with BF2's huge fanbase). EA has been experimenting (screwing) alot with different sales models with Battlefield: BC1 - Console only Heros - Free browser micro transactions 1943 - Small download only + inevitable muchos map packs BF3 - MMO? Would explain a little why its taking so damn long. Far fettched? I hope so!

  10. CEVAT YERLI TALKS CRYSIS 2

Crysis 2 is a reality. We know this because EA and Crytek announced the game during EA's big E3 press conference today. Unfortunately, that's about all they did. The companies aren't talking much about the game itself, even during a face-to-face interview that we had with Crytek boss Cevat Yerli and EA Partners head David DeMartini shortly before the press conference. Right now, both companies are happy to stick with the announcement. According to both Yerli and DeMartini, the deal for EA to publish Crysis 2 for the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 is an extension of their earlier deal for Crysis and Crysis Warhead. And, of course, there's the major bombshell that Crysis 2 is multiplatform and not a PC-exclusive title. Yerli explained that the very competitiveness of Crytek was at stake. He said that while Crysis was successful from a critical and commercial point of view, but it's breaking even to making some profit. "Going forward we need to be more profitable, and the only way to do that is logically to move our company toward the consoles," Yerli said. Crysis 2 is being built on the company's new CryEngine 3 technology, which it showcased at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco earlier this year. Yerli explained that the CryEngine 3 was a significant breakthrough for the company. He said that it's capable of scaling performance considerably, so he maintains that the PC version of Crysis 2 will look far better than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions. At the same time, the console games will be as state-of-the-art as possible for those platforms. Read on............... http://outpostgamez.com/news/244/cevat-yerli-talks-crysis-2/

  12. CRYTEK EA ANNOUNCEMENT CRY2 @ E3

Yeah, i agree. However you know why they are moving to 360? Its because Crysis was the number 1 pirated game on the market, though i agree its performance was just way to many problems.

  17. Gamespot posted up a video interview with Battlefield: Bad Company 2 producer, Patrick Bach. Also check out their hands-on article, new screenshots and the premier of a new trailer. Check back tomorrow for a high res version. Read on........... check out the video Battlefield: Bad Company marked the first entry in DICE's first-person shooter series to be designed solely for consoles. As part of that transition, the franchise's trademark 64-player online matches were scaled down to 24 in an effort to keep things running smoothly on trickier network configurations. Despite this, Bad Company's online multiplayer managed to preserve a lot of that chaos by way of newly destructible buildings and the remaining presence of vehicles. Now, after going hands-on with Bad Company 2 at a press event held at EA's Los Angeles offices, we've got a good idea of what to expect out of the sequel's online offerings. While the max number of players remains the same, a host of enhancements should make the combat even more frenetic. Read the rest...
  18. Call of Duty 7: vietnam?

Modern Warfare 2 is still six months away, but that doesn’t stop Treyarch from working on the seventh Call of Duty, which, if That VideoGame Blog is to be believed, is set in Vietnam: http://outpostgamez.com/story-2335-Call-of...-7-Vietnam.html
  19. Call of Duty 7: vietnam?

I really enjoy the COd series, they have an very stable engine unlike that of DICE on the Battlefield series, which i would like to see some time and hope it will be in the latest installment. But getting back to COD, i really enjoy the maps and the game play feels really nice. Thank you for the explanation on conflict series.

  23. HEROES NOT COMING TO PS3 OR 360

Hello Heroes! Contrary to rumours spreading around the internet in the weekend we have no plans to release Battlefield Heroes on either PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. Battlefield Heroes’ mixture of free download (funded by micro-transactions and advertising) and our extensive use of the web for social features means that Heroes is tailor-made for PC. Not to worry, you don't need a super-computer to play Battlefield Heroes. You can find the minimum system specs here. We're currently aiming for a minimum requirement of: * Operating System: Windows XP or Windows Vista * CPU: 1.0 GHz * RAM: 512 Mb (1Gb on Windows Vista) * Video Card: 64Mb DirectX compliant video card with at least pixel shader 2.0 support * Hard Drive space: 1Gb of space is required to install the game * Internet connection: 256kbit Cable/DSL connection Keep in mind that this may change somewhat by the time we release Battlefield Heroes. Nevertheless we are aiming for wide availability; we don't think anyone should have a super computer to be able to play and have fun. Ben Cousins
