  1. Well, in WOE/V/SF, framerates would vary from model to model but I'd say i got an average of 20 FPS in cockpit and 30-40 in external views, that is with graphics maxed out and highest resolution, WOI maxed out etc.. gives me about 5 FPS in cockpit and anything between 8-30 in external views, if I view the aircraft from directly above then it gets a healthy 40-50 FPS, I tried playing with settings, shadows made no real difference and number of objects didn't seem to make alot either, and most strange of all, i lowered resolution and got worse performance, but with settings around medium to normal and maintaining max resolution there seemed to be an improvement. new things in the graphics option seem a little odd, if you choose an option of anything less than unlimited in the object textures the aircraft texture is awfull ( I didn't want to see what it might be like at medium or low after that ), I am trying to use a prog calle Nhancer to see if it can give back some performance, it has worked a treat on some other games before. Don't get me wrong, I think the game is worth getting, I'm happy to let my hardware evolve with the third wire titles, they are simply the most addictive titles I have ever used, and in my case I have seen my machine compare badly with others of similar spec before. Oh and No the bathroom is miles from being finished. p.s. ignore the texture thing I talked about, it's actually fine, I forgot I was using a 3rd party aircraft when I looked at it, the stock stuff is still sweeeeet!
  2. Well the first thing I have noticed is the huge FPS loss on my machine, and I didn't think my comp was that much of a slouch,Win XP, 250GB SATA HD, P4 3.5 Ghz, 2Mb DDR RAM, Nvidia 7950GT. Still The game itself is not a dissapointment.
  3. Who is actual aircrew?

No the callsign we use is eithe COASTGUARD xx or RESCUE xx depending on our tasking, Our other aircraft use the callsign ATLANTIC, The WATCHDOG callsign is MAF (Fisheries protection)
  4. Who is actual aircrew?

I like aircraft like the E-2, tomcats, hornets are all fast and ponty and cool etc...etc... but thats really not the be all and end all to aviation, I think my job is great, and all I do is push a shabby old islander around at low level doing surveillance and the search part for search and rescue.
  5. I liked this screenshot so I thought I'd post it
  6. Drag Chute? Cockpit linked animations?
  7. OK Beer is in hand (Jack daniels actually), woman... well she's always at hand luckily for me
  8. No Worries, I understood your input to be constructive, I appreciate the enthusiasm my work has generated, I didn't mean to sound hostile, I just have a lack of tact sometimes, I think I'm a bit techy from the DIY work I'm doing at home to be honest , I'm re decorating my Bathroom and toilet and it's my week off work ( I should be somwhere nice with beer and women to hand  )
  9. These Games don't break the bank, Hell I'd buy 2 copies and give someone else the other just so someone won't miss out.
  10. HMMM!! look at the screens again I'm a new modder, I haven't had to endure rivet counting too often, so I am not too offended by criticism, just be aware that some others might be, and yes I agree it seems a little thick, will prob work on it (won't change it much though), I will consider the polygons side of things in balance with the rest of the pit, I wan't it all to be looking good if I can.
  11. Sparko, your little inputs often make me laugh, so I like you
  12. This confuses me, aren't all games available to download on th third wire website? presumably WOI wil;l be availlabe there too on it's release
  13. Yes I noticed that too, it's making my spine tingle with anticipation.
  14. Who is actual aircrew?

it's a phrase Iv'e used for years, but I believe it is basically what Hippopotamus translates to.
  15. Who is actual aircrew?

Well I would agree in part, indeed women sound great on the radio, but many a time when I have got to meet that sexy sounding air traffic controller, inevitably she turned out to be a Riverhorse , totally spoiling the fantasy
  16. Who is actual aircrew?

I should have opened the scope in the opening post, it's interesting to read all the other involvements with aviation there are, I guess we shouldn't forget the spanner monkeys after all , I know I like to keep on the right side of our engineers. Nicky I figured you to be a real stick and rudder type being such a fan of the Spad, get yerself off to the local flying club and do a trial lesson, you'd be doing the poor instructor a favour, they get paid s**t and are struggling to build hours to get a job so they can afford to feed themselves (speaking from experience) £50ish for a 20 minute flight.
  17. Inline VS Radial

OK I concede, I must admit I am not 100% confident in my History, the Napier Sabre was indeed a MOSNTERRRRR  (it also was very unreliable) but I guess the basis of the topic has wandered off, Radial or inline?, for me it is impossible to answer.
  18. Inline VS Radial

Tempest V was a radial engine
  19. Inline VS Radial

Are you sure inlines(water cooled) are lighter, with all the extra plumbing and then the coolant my guess is it's the other way around if not an even match, the engine doesn't often determine the dogfighting ability of an A/C, and ironically some of the fastest prop driven A/C have been radial engined (Bearcat, Sea fury, FW-190 etc), so much for the inline streamlining, in terms of reliability there have been examples of some real pigs in radials too. p.s. I hope that didn't sound hostile, it's not the intention, I just figured I would highlight the difficulty in determining a clear winner in this debate, besides the sound of a WW2 warbird is all music to me.
  20. Only using the F mk3 so no cammo, anyway the problem is fixed thanks to the rudder ini entry and the flightengine ini fix, Thanks Brain
  21. Inline VS Radial

Nicky is right, you have got to weigh the advantages and disadvantages to suit your application and you have the answer, I personally love radial engines, I fly a Boeing Stearman (or at least used to until I changed jobs) and the sound is magic, I also have about 270 hours on Tiger moths, and I like the Tiger more than the stearman but the engine isn't as nice.
  22. Odd, so in my case the fix just made it worse.
  23. Bizzarely enough I undid the ini fix and the aircraft now loads to the point I am sitting in the cockpit, but as soon as I try to take off I get a CTD
  24. If you look back through the pages of this thread there are pics I posted before
